Typical Trump Thug…
The strangers allegedly argued about the election. Then he hit her.
A man punched a woman in the face at a popular French restaurant in Brooklyn after she expressed disappointment about the election of President-elect Donald Trump, according to reports from restaurant staff and witnesses.
On Saturday night, a 49-year-old woman who has not been publicly identified was at Bar Tabac in Boerum Hill with a female friend. According to Jonas Leon, the manager who was working that night, the two women were discussing the outcome of the election when a man at a nearby table got into an argument with them.
The man asked the manager to kick the women out of the restaurant. Instead, Leon moved the man and his dining companion to another table. The man paid for his meal and left the restaurant, Leon said, before sprinting back in and punching one of the women square in the face.
“The guy came back almost running, and he started pushing some customer and the high-chair next to him with the baby because he couldn’t reach the girl,” Leon said. “Then he punched the girl.”
Leon told DNAInfo that the assault was because of politics.
“The guy who punched the girl was pro-Trump for sure,” he said.
One witness, Katie Nave Freeman, told DNAInfo that she was dining at the eatery when she heard people yelling “call 911.” She saw a woman in the back of the restaurant with her hands over her face.
“The woman was extremely (and understandably) shaken,” Freeman said. “She grabbed me, sobbed and held the left side of her face in her hand.”
An NYPD spokesman confirmed to Gothamist that an assault occurred at the bar. The woman did not suffer any visible injuries and refused medical attention. No arrests have been made in the case.
On Monday, Bar Tabac posted a statement about the incident on Facebook.
We at Bar Tabac do not condone violence of any type or manner, especially in our own establishment; to the tough guy who assaulted a female patron of ours on Saturday night over a political conversation: Once the law is done with you, do not come back to Bar Tabac (this includes your partner). At a point in this nation when tensions are highest we need to come together now more than ever, we apologize to any customers who had to witness this vulgar outburst.
In the aftermath of Trump’s surprise election, there has been a slew of reports of racist, anti-Semitic and anti-women attacks by Trump supporters.
“Since the election, we’ve seen a big uptick in incidents of vandalism, threats, intimidation spurred by the rhetoric surrounding Mr. Trump’s election,” Richard Cohen, president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, told USA TODAY.
Advocates working to end violence against women have warned about a possible increase in violence under a Trump presidency.
Purportedly while sitting beside her two small children…
A Washington woman who was five months pregnant was shot and killed by King County Sheriff’s deputies Friday night on Muckleshoot tribal lands. Now her loved ones want to know why.
The dead woman’s former foster sister Danielle Bargala told the Seattle Times that Renee Davis, 23, had struggled with depression and mental illness before her fatal run-in with police on Friday.
“It’s really upsetting because it was a wellness check,” said Bargala, who is a Seattle University law student. “Obviously, she didn’t come out of it well.”
A relative of Davis called the sheriff’s department on Friday after receiving an alarming text from the mother of three. Police records show that officers responding to a call about a potential suicide encountered a woman with a handgun and two small children in the house when they arrived at 6:30 in the evening.
What happened next, Bargala said, is still in question, but at the end, Davis — who was an avid outdoorswoman of Native American heritage — lay dead of gunshot wounds. The children, 2 and 3 years old, were unharmed. Davis’ third child, a 5-year-old boy, was at a neighbor’s house.
Bargala said she didn’t know that Davis owned a handgun, but she did own a hunting rifle.
“She loved hunting,” she said.
Davis loved working outdoors. She participated in a fisheries training program and recently had been working as a teacher’s aide.
“She was such a soft person,” said Bargala. The two grew up in a family of seven children. Bargala’s parents had three children of their own and took in four foster children.
Seattle lawyer Ryan Dreveskracht told the Times that unfortunately, these scenarios are all too common when police interact with people struggling with mental illness.
Dreveskracht is currently representing the family of a mentally ill man who was killed by police. He said that while Seattle Police are being trained in de-escalation techniques, most police forces in the state are not.
Interesting the Tubman was selected to be the first non-white person on the $20 Bill. I would have thought it would have been MLK, or if looking for a Historical Figure from the 19th Century – Frederick Douglass.
Seems a bit like the ultimate “Two-fer”…
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew is expected to announce the changes on Wednesday after receiving fierce blowback.
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Wednesday will announce plans to both keep Alexander Hamilton on the front of the $10 bill and to knock Andrew Jackson off the front of the $20 in favor of Harriet Tubman, sources tell POLITICO.
Lew is expected to roll out a set of changes that also include putting leaders of the women’s suffrage movement on the back of the $10 bill, and incorporating civil rights era leaders and other important moments in American history into the $5 bill. Also, Jackson isn’t getting completely booted off the $20 bill. He’s likely to remain on the back.
Lew’s reversal comes after he announced last summer that he was considering replacing Hamilton on the $10 bill with a woman. The plan drew swift rebukes from fans of Hamilton, who helped create the Treasury Department and the modern American financial system. Critics immediately suggested Lew take Jackson off the $20 bill given the former president’s role in moving Native Americans off their land.
Yest another “mysterious death” of a black woman held in a jail…
The so called “choke hold” used in Martial Arts disciplines doesn’t produce unconsciousness by shutting of the air supply…It produces it by shutting off the blood supply to the brain. If you have ever watched MMA, check out how long it takes for these extremely well conditioned athletes to get up after being submitted with one of those holds. These holds can be lethal, which is why the referees in the sport are trained to jump in at the first sign of unconsciousness.
Using such on a child, with no threat of harm to anyone else is extreme. Yet another murder.
A staffer working at a Kentucky juvenile detention center used a martial arts hold on 16-year-old Gynnya McMillen hours before she was found dead in her cell, reports CBS.
According to a spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, the teen refused to remove her sweatshirt for a pat down search and to have her booking photo taken, leading a staffer to use an “Aikido restraint” on her in order to get her to comply.
“The staff performed an Aikido restraint hold to safely conduct a pat-down search and remove the youth’s hoodie,” spokesperson Stacy Floden stated. “The purpose of having multiple staff involved in a controlled restraint is to ensure the safety of the youth and staff.”
McMillen was found dead in her cell at the Lincoln Village Juvenile Detention Center on Jan. 11, after officials failed to check on her well-being throughout the night.
According to center policy, juvenile detainees in isolation cells must be checked on every 15 minutes by staffers.
On Thursday, Reginald Windham, a 10-year veteran of the juvenile justice department, was placed on administrative leave for failing to check on the teen.
According to the Kentucky Center for Investigative reporting, McMillen’s cold lifeless body was discovered “in a sleeping position” in a “secure” room at 9:55 a.m., after failing to respond to twice earlier when asked if she wanted to eat.
Despite her lack of communication, staffers never entered her cell to check on her.
According to the Hardin County coroner there were no obvious signs of trauma or a drug overdose, and that a toxicology report is still pending and could take two more weeks.
Juvenile justice expert Michele Deitch criticized the use of martial arts on the teen.
“I’ve never heard that phrase used in the context of a corrections setting,” Deitch said, adding refusal to remove a sweatshirt is not acceptable grounds for restraint.
“As far as I’m concerned that is a completely inappropriate use of a restraint,” Deitch said. “This goes back to not being so punitive with kids. That’s not just how you interact if you want to achieve a positive social response.”
McMillen was taken into custody after a fight at at a Shelby County residence shortly before 2 a.m. on Jan. 10, according to the Shelbyville Police Department. The teen was was charged with misdemeanor assault after leaving her victim with what were described as “minor injuries.”
The family of McMillen have asked for a full investigation into the teen’s death, and video from her cell has yet to be released.
What happens when two Brazilian film makers try and shoot a routine near an airport?
Now – aside from the point that if the two men were “terrorists” and if they had some nefarious purpose…
This is full on Donald Trump America.
Two Brazilian men said they were filming a video for their YouTube comedy channel when an irate white woman pulled over because she mistook them for terrorists.
“I was filming a sketch for youtube in front of a local airport, when a racist woman stopped her vehicle on the side of the road and started calling my friend and I terrorists,” performer Uhoh Nick wrote on Facebook. “Being that I’m an inspiring filmmaker, I pulled out my camera and started recording the incident. I honestly never thought this would happen to me.”
In the video, the woman immediately begins hurling racial insults as soon as one of the men pulls out his cell phone to begin filming.
“I said you were a scum bag, you’re child pedophilers [SIC], faggot bitches that turn into terrorists,” she rants, adding several other anti-gay slurs. “You’re turning terrorists now because you hate yourself so much. Now you’re taking pictures in front a plane to remind you of 9/11.”
“You’re American terrorists!” the woman insists after exiting her SUV. “And God told me so. God is your brain and your brain.”
Peppering her rant with homophobic slurs, the woman yells at the two men about Jesus, 9/11, hoverboards before insisting that the two Brazilian men “are Middle Eastern” and then getting back in her vehicle.
“You want little Middle Eastern boys like you to get raped and go to hell!” she yells as she drives away.
Uhoh Nick lamented on his personal Facebook page that people “like her need to be shunned out of society, because that’s the mentality that keeps us from progressing.”
Raw Story requested clarification from Uhoh Monkey about whether this encounter was part of a comedy routine, but the performers did not respond by the time of publication.
One heck of a right cross! A woman minding her own business, looking at a motor bike was accosted by a man, pinching her behind. What happens next as reported by the Morocco World News.
Here we go again…
A black woman who was punched and tackled to the ground by two white Jacksonville policemen for filming the arrest of her husband claims the cops stole her phone with a recording on the incident, reports NewsJax4.
According to Kelli Wilson, she went down to a local convenience store to record the arrest of her husband and retrieve their car when she was assaulted by the two cops who demanded her name and told her to put her phone away and stop recording.
“I was beaten, and then falsely arrested, my phone was stolen, my car was taken. It was a traumatic experience. It was definitely an experience you never think you would be going through,” said Wilson.
Although police confiscated her phone, video of her arrest was captured by surveillance cameras that showed the unarmed woman talking to the police before they charged, attempting to grab her phone with one officer seen punching her while the other one held her arms.
According to Wilson, one of the policemen demanded she stop filming and she asked him “why?”
“He asked for it, he demanded it again, and I gave him the same, ‘Why do you want my phone? What do you need my phone for?’ He told me he would punch me in my face,”Wilson explained. “I eventually got punched and beaten and the sergeant that was on the scene joined in the beating.”
According to the police report, officers at the scene said Wilson repeatedly refused to identify herself and she was arrested for interfering with the arrest, although in the video she can be seen backing away from the officers. The officers admitted that they kneed and punched her as they made the arrest. The report also states the arresting officers believed she was reaching for a weapon after they had her face down on the ground. No weapon was discovered.
According to Wilson, the police confiscated and still have her phone that contains the video that she feels will exonerate her.
Her lawyers believe that the surveillance video should be enough to prove that she did nothing wrong.
“She was lucky for that video, because without it, I don’t think a judge or jury would believe her against three police officers,” said her attorney, Dexter Van Davis.
Geez…Virginia resident Karen Cooper described why she joined the Virginia Flaggers, a group that defends the rebel flag against those who “worship ignorance, historical revisionism and political correctness.”
Apparently, Cain’s characterization of the women who filed claims against him as President of the National Restaurant Association for sexual harassment…
Has pissed off one of them.
Now the REAL problem with this type of thing, is where there is one – there are very likely a whole bunch more…
One of the women who accused GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment wants to tell her side of the story but is barred by a confidentiality agreement, her attorney in Washington said Tuesday.
Lawyer Joel P. Bennett called on the National Restaurant Association, where the woman and Cain worked in the late 1990s, to release the woman from her written promise not to talk about the allegations or disparage the trade group.
“It is just frustrating that Herman Cain is going around bad-mouthing the two complainants, and my client is blocked by a confidentiality agreement,” Bennett said. “The National Restaurant Association ought to release them and allow them to respond. ”
The association, which Cain headed from 1996 to 1999, has remained mum since the story broke in Politico on Sunday evening, citing a long-standing policy not to comment on personnel issues. Cain denied the sexual harassment allegations, saying they were “totally baseless and totally false.”
Bennett represents one of the two women, who attended an Ivy League school and now works for the federal government. She has avoided the limelight since the allegations were aired, and she is staying with relatives while the media stakes out her home in suburban Maryland, Bennett said.
If she is released from the confidentiality ban, “then it is whole new ballgame,” Bennett said.
“If we didn’t have a written settlement agreement that says confidential and no disparagement, I think she’d be very comfortable coming forward,” the attorney told The Post on Tuesday. “Not because she would be so hellbent on doing something to Herman Cain — I don’t know that.
“For all practical purposes, Herman Cain has already done that” — waived confidentiality, Bennett said. “But legally that might not constitute a waiver.”
Because the case is more than a dozen years old, Bennett said he no longer has the file nor the confidentiality agreement. He said his client is sending it to him for review to determine how she might speak publicly.
Bennett, who has practiced employment law for four decades since graduating from Georgetown University, said that he disagrees with Cain’s statements that the settlement agreement with his client was only for severance.
“If there hadn’t been [sexual harassment] claims, there wouldn’t have been a settlement,” Bennett said…
Dang! It’s tough out there for a crooner! Usher, more used to them screaming and falling down when he hits those high notes…
Gets a beat-down from a woman for illegal parking on his way to the show!
Obviously this woman isn’t a fan… Or maybe Usher should have taken his shirt off?
Usher was planning to engage in an early Halloween celebration but instead of partaking in the festivities in a positive light, the R&B crooner was met with negativity by a woman who attacked him for parking in a handicapped spot in an Atlanta lot.
TMZ reports that the ‘Raymond v. Raymond’ creator arrived to the Little Points Halloween Parade, where he parked his black SUV into a spot that was reserved for those with a handicap. Usher was met by a screaming woman, who grabbed at his shirt and tried several times to swing her arms at him. Bystanders dressed in costume — an Elvis impersonator was among them — helped to prevent the woman from getting close to the singer.
According to the video, the woman is taped screaming and attempting to accost the ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love’ performer in front of her child. “You don’t belong here!” the woman screams at Usher. Sources tell TMZ that she was eventually lead away from the fracas by her husband.
This case has rocked France, and much of the world. A French mother is found to have first had, then murdered 8 babies and buried them in the back yard. And this is the fifth time in the last 7 years cases of this have been discovered in France.
With the number of women, right here in the US of A killing their babies – this is hardly a “French Problem” – but I am not sure I buy the psychological explanation provided in the following article…
But I guess it beats Demonic possession.
As to the husband, who was apparently busy enough to make 10 babies not knowing something wasn’t right…
I am waiting for the first Burqua/Burka Murder, where an Islamic woman kills her Mullah for making her go around in an 8th century outfit…
Probably some enterprising Dr. Phil shrink will chalk it up to “style deprivation”.
The question is as horrifying as it is important to ask: Why are a rising number of French women killing their newborn babies? Finding the answer has become a matter of urgency following the discovery on Wednesday of eight infants allegedly smothered to death and buried by their mother in northern France. And with that case marking at least the fifth instance of multiple infanticide reported in France since 2003, it has become vital for the nation to confront the phenomenon that appears to be behind it all: a mental condition known as pregnancy denial.
This latest case of newborn murder in France was uncovered in the northern town of Villiers-au-Tertre, after eight tiny bodies were found buried in the gardens of two separate homes. Six of the cadavers were unearthed on July 29 by police at the house of Dominique Cottrez, 45, and her husband Pierre-Marie, 47. Investigators searched their home after the resident of a house previously owned by Dominique’s parents turned up two tiny bodies on July 24 while digging a pool in the backyard. According to the French prosecutor leading the inquiry in the town, a short distance south of Lille, Dominique has admitted to hiding her pregnancies — and the killings of her babies — from her husband, whom police describe as being “dumbstruck” by the revelations. Dominique was charged for the murders; Pierre-Marie has been cleared of wrongdoing and released but could yet become a subject of investigation.
The case in Villiers-au-Tertre is only the most recent example of a father of slain babies being apparently unaware of his wife’s pregnancies. Four other such cases since 2003 include that of Véronique Courjault, 42, who was convicted in June 2009 of killing three of her newborns — two of whom she hid in a freezer and were later discovered by her husband. And this past March, Céline Lesage, 38, was found guilty of murdering six of her babies after she hid her pregnancies from the men who had fathered them. Both women were sentenced to prison — Courjault for eight years and Lesage for 15. Read the rest of this entry »
This supposed example of “Police brutality” is flying across the WWW. To be brutally honest this officer would have been well within his rights to light these two up with a taser. As to the woman who got punched in the face – Shoving an officer trying to make an arrest?
There certainly are some cops out there who are out of control… Not sure this is one of them.
Seattle police are investigating two teenagers for allegedly assaulting an officer—even though a much-publicized video has surfaced in which said officer punches one of them, 17-year-old Angel Rosenthal, in the face. The incident, caught on the tape above, happened after officer Ian Walsh stopped Rosenthal and three other women for jaywalking. They were “verbally antagonistic towards the officer,” according to the official report, and one, 19-year-old Marilyn Levias, tried walking away.
Walsh tried to drag her back to the car, and, well, you can watch what happened next in the Komo News video above. Levias and Rosenthal were both arrested. Initially, Seattle police said the officer had acted appropriately, but after the video got widespread local media play, the department said it was not only reviewing the incident, but department training procedures, the Seattle Times reports. Officers are taught punching as an official tactic, one sergeant noted.
Yeah – that overhand right was a little weak…
