Wow! Some folks have had enough!
USA Today’s Editorial Board unloads on the Chumph.
And the chickenshit Democrats are too cowardly to stand up….Again.
A president who’d all but call a senator a whore is unfit to clean toilets in Obama’s presidential library or to shine George W. Bush’s shoes: Our view
With his latest tweet, clearly implying that a United States senator would trade sexual favors for campaign cash, President Trump has shown he is not fit for office. Rock bottom is no impediment for a president who can always find room for a new low.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday dismissed the president’s smear as a misunderstanding because he used similar language about men. Of course, words used about men and women are different. When candidate Trump said a journalist was bleeding from her “wherever,” he didn’t mean her nose.
And as is the case with all of Trump’s digital provocations, the president’s words were deliberate. He pours the gasoline of sexist language and lights the match gleefully knowing how it will burst into flame in a country reeling from the #MeToo moment.
A president who would all but call Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand a whore is not fit to clean the toilets in the Barack Obama Presidential Library or to shine the shoes of George W. Bush.
This isn’t about the policy differences we have with all presidents or our disappointment in some of their decisions. Obama and Bush both failed in many ways. They broke promises and told untruths, but the basic decency of each man was never in doubt.
Donald Trump, the man, on the other hand, is uniquely awful. His sickening behavior is corrosive to the enterprise of a shared governance based on common values and the consent of the governed.
It should surprise no one how low he went with Gillibrand. When accused during the campaign of sexually harassing or molesting women in the past, Trump’s response was to belittle the looks of his accusers. Last October, Trump suggested that he never would have groped Jessica Leeds on an airplane decades ago: “Believe me, she would not be my first choice, that I can tell you.” Trump mocked another accuser, former People reporter Natasha Stoynoff, “Check out her Facebook, you’ll understand.” Other celebrities and politicians have denied accusations, but none has stooped as low as suggesting that their accusers weren’t attractive enough to be honored with their gropes.
If recent history is any guide, the unique awfulness of the Trump era in U.S. politics is only going to get worse. Trump’s utter lack of morality, ethics and simple humanity has been underscored during his 11 months in office. Let us count the ways:
- He is enthusiastically supporting Alabama’s Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused of pursuing — and in one case molesting and in another assaulting — teenagers as young as 14 when Moore was a county prosecutor in his 30s. On Tuesday, Trump summed up his willingness to support a man accused of criminal conduct: “Roy Moore will always vote with us.”
- Trump apparently is going for some sort of record for lying while in office. As of mid-November, he had made 1,628 misleading or false statements in 298 days in office. That’s 5.5 false claims per day, according to a count kept by The Washington Post’s fact-checkers.
- Trump takes advantage of any occasion — even Monday’s failed terrorist attack in New York — to stir racial, religious or ethnic strife. Congress “must end chain migration,” he said Monday, because the terror suspect “entered our country through extended-family chain migration, which is incompatible with national security.” So because one man — 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. who came from Bangladesh on a family immigrant visa in 2011 — is accused of attacking America, all immigrants brought to this country by family are suspect? Trump might have some credibility if his criticism of immigrants was solely about terrorists. It isn’t. It makes no difference to him if an immigrant is a terrorist or a federal judge. He once smeared an Indiana-born judge whose parents emigrated from Mexico. It’s all the same to this president.
- A man who clearly wants to put his stamp on the government, Trump hasn’t even done his job when it comes to filling key government positions that require Senate confirmation. As of last week, Trump had failed to nominate anyone for 60% of 1,200 key positions he can fill to keep the government running smoothly.
- Trump has shown contempt for ethical strictures that have bound every president in recent memory. He has refused to release his tax returns, with the absurd excuse that it’s because he is under audit. He has refused to put his multibillion dollar business interests in a blind trust and peddles the fiction that putting them in the hands of his sons does the same thing.
Not to mention calling white supremacists “very fine people,” pardoning a lawless sheriff, firing a respected FBI director, and pushing the Justice Department to investigate his political foes.
It is a shock that only six Democratic senators are calling for our unstable president to resign.
The nation doesn’t seek nor expect perfect presidents, and some have certainly been deeply flawed. But a president who shows such disrespect for the truth, for ethics, for the basic duties of the job and for decency toward others fails at the very essence of what has always made America great.
In a blatant attempt at Nepotism/cronyism, the Chumph nominated a guy with only 3 years of law experience, and no judicial experience to the Federal Bench in Alabama…
It turns out that the nomination wasn’t only political payback but outright nepotism.
Yet another unqualified POS from the Chumph.
This is the reason the Chumph not only has to come down – but he has to come down in a way that invalidates every nomination and decision he has made, Nailing him for the collusion with the Russians is the best way to do that in that it would invalidate his election.
Brett J. Talley was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve in a federal judgeship in Alabama, despite never having tried a case in his life. Now it’s being revealed that the appointment might be another example of the president’s failure to “drain the swamp.”
According to the New York Times, Talley is married to Ann Donaldson, the chief of staff to the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn. Talley also never disclosed it on documents available to members of Congress who are weighing confirmation.
Talley was required to answer whether any family members or others would be “likely to present potential conflicts of interest.” He didn’t think to mention his spouse. He also didn’t mention her during his frequent contact with the White House lawyers during his nomination process.
The American Bar Association has already labeled Talley “not qualified” in a rare denouncing of the 2007 Harvard grad’s candidacy.
“Mr. Talley served as deputy solicitor general for the state of Alabama, currently serves in the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy and was recommended by Alabama’s U.S. senators,” said Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary. “He is more than qualified to serve in the federal judiciary.”
The Times notes that McGahn has been influential in the nomination of young conservatives to fill judicial appointments. Still, a White House official said Donaldson had nothing to do with the process of Talley’s nomination by the White House.
It was revealed recently Donaldson was a witness for special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether Trump obstructed justice in the firing of former FBI director James Comey. She reportedly kept detailed notes about her conversations with McGhan during the time the decision was made to fire Comey, according to two sources briefed on the matter.
Talley was passed out of the Judicial Committee on a party-line vote and is expected to come up for a full vote in the U.S. Senate this week.
The Chumph’s Energy Secretary is as dumb as a rcok…
Even worse – this new found desire to prevent sexual assaults is rather questionable…
More liars and incompetents…
Another of President Donald Trump’s nominees has been caught fudging their academic and professional bonafides, according to The Hill.
Joseph Otting — Trump’s nominee for the U.S. Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency — reportedly lied when he said on his resume that he holds a degree from the “School of Credit and Financial Management at Dartmouth College.”
Dartmouth — an Ivy League university that was founded in Hanover, New Hampshire in 1769 — has never had a school of credit and financial management, nor does any such college operate out of any Dartmouth facility.
“Joseph Otting is not a Dartmouth graduate,” said university spokeswoman Diana Lawrence to New England Cable News on Wednesday. “Dartmouth does not have a school of credit and financial management.”
The only program bearing the name “School of Credit and Financial Management” associated with Dartmouth was a four-week certificate program spread over two years that was provided by National Association of Credit Management, a Maryland-based nonprofit that provides credit and financial professionals with continuing education opportunities. For a short time, the course was offered on the Dartmouth College campus.
Otting has a bachelor’s degree and The Hill reported that if nominated, he will be the first U.S. comptroller in decades not to hold an advanced degree.
The White House confirmed Otting’s “error” on Friday, saying that “Bloomberg’s characterization of Mr. Otting’s credentials is correct.”
Bloomberg News said Friday, “Records from the program, which is run for two weeks each year by the National Association of Credit Management, confirm that Otting graduated in 1992 when he was a mid-level manager at Union Bank in Beverly Hills, California.”
In addition to Otting, Trump’s nominees for other posts have been felled due to plagiarism our outright lies about their qualifications. Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee whiffed a nomination to the Department of Homeland Security of plagiarized passages in his master’s thesis.
Former Fox News personality Monica Crowley was forced to step down from a post as Trump’s deputy national security adviser after it was revealed that she plagiarized portions of her Ph.D. dissertation in 2000. Crowley was also ordered to retroactively register as a foreign agent of Ukrainian interests operating in the United States earlier this year.
Former Breitbart.com terrorism “expert” and suspected neo-Nazi Sebastian Gorka’s insistence on being referred to as “Dr. Gorka” in press appearance became ultimately risible when a real terrorism expert revealed this spring that Gorka was awarded his doctorate for what was essentially a lengthy blog post he dubbed his “dissertation.”
That work was, in turn, was adjudicated by a committee of his political allies and cronies in Hungary, who then conferred upon Gorka his Ph.D.
Lawn Jockey of the week and future Orange Jumpsuit wearer…Lynne Patton
She claims a Yale Degree, and never attended the school and a Law Degree she was never awarded.
Yet another full time Chumph incompetent, unqualified, criminal and liar, this time selected solely on the basis of her race.
She’s arranged tournaments at Trump golf courses, served as the liaison to the Trump family during his presidential campaign, and even arranged Eric Trump’s wedding.
Now President Trump has appointed longtime loyalist Lynne Patton — who has zero housing experience and claims a law degree the school says she never earned — to run the office that oversees federal housing programs in New York.
Patton was appointed Wednesday to head up the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Region II, which includes New York and New Jersey, where she’ll oversee distribution of billions of taxpayer dollars.
Patton’s tight relationship with the Trump clan dates back to 2009, when she began serving as the family’s “event planner.”
“Responsible for organizing, executing and assisting with upscale events and celebrity golf tournaments,” her LinkedIn profile says. “Handle celebrity talent acquisition for various marketing projects, philanthropic events and golf tournaments.”
From 2011 through January, she also helped run the Eric Trump Foundation, a charity that’s now under investigation by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
She also claims on her LinkedIn page to have obtained a juris doctorate degree in 2000 from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut. Next to the J.D. notation is written (N/A) without explanation.
On Thursday school registrar Jim Benson said Patton attended for two semesters but did not graduate.
She also listed Yale University but HUD officials couldn’t explain why that was there. Patton, who begins her Region II job July 5, did not return calls seeking comment.
As head of the biggest HUD regional office in the U.S., Patton will oversee distribution of billions in cash to public housing authorities — including NYCHA — as well as tens of thousands of rental vouchers and block grants that fund housing inspections and senior citizen programs.
Patton is one of the handful of African Americans within Trump’s inner circle and a passionate Trump promoter. Last year she made a video entitled “I’m proof Donald Trump isn’t a bigot.”
Trump first placed her as a White House liaison at HUD in February. While there, she’s fired off multiple flamethrowing tweets for him and his family…
Patton has also had to defend her role as former vice president at Eric Trump’s foundation. Forbes last week reported the charity steered money to the Trump empire by holding events at Trump golf courses while she was there. She said nothing untoward happened at the charity.
Note – She is now under investigation by the FBI for fraud at that charity.
In what has become a rapidly escalating situation, more and more Republicans have come to recognize either the Chumph’s incompetence to hold office, his basic and utter corruption, and stupidity posing an existential threat to America and American Democracy.
It isn’t just the fact that Putin’s Bitch is a traitor…It is that he is incompetent.
Republicans have been slow to come out against President Donald Trump but conservative strategist Karl Rove is done.
In a blistering op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Rove said, “Trump lacks the focus or self-discipline to do the basic work required of a president.”
Rove began explaining why Trump’s tweeting doesn’t remove the media barrier between Trump and the citizenry, it consistently undermines his administration and his political agenda. Citing Trump’s tweets calling his executive order a “travel ban,” Rove said the legal strategy defending the ban “lies in tatters.”
He went on to say that Trump’s tweets that followed were “even more hazardous.”
“We are EXTREME VETTING people coming into the U.S.,” Trump wrote.
“The second executive order says its rationale for suspending visas for 90 days was that conditions in the six nations ‘present heightened threats,’” Rove explained. “The Department of Homeland Security was given 20 days to ‘conduct a worldwide review’ and determine what ‘additional information will be needed’ to vet visitors properly. Those countries would then have 50 days to ‘begin providing’ the requested information. If any refused, no visas would be issued for their citizens to enter the U.S.”
Rove said that the 90-day timeline died Monday, and along with it went Trump’s credibility for the executive order.
“Trump insists that ‘extreme vetting’ is already taking place. So why is his administration still seeking judicial approval to halt visas temporarily for these six countries?” Rove wondered.
Government lawyers are wasting their breath defending an executive order that the president thinks isn’t even needed.
While Trump can reach his supporters directly on Twitter, his inability to fact-check has left him in a position where there are “considerable doubts Americans have about his competence and trustworthiness,” Rove wrote.
He went on to wonder why Trump was questioning the motives of other countries for entering into the Paris Climate Accord at a time that the U.S. needs international support for the war against ISIS. Instead, Trump should have touted American success and leadership on fighting climate change without the Paris Climate Accord.
“Increasingly it appears Mr. Trump lacks the focus or self-discipline to do the basic work required of a president,” he closed. “His chronic impulsiveness is apparently unstoppable and clearly self-defeating. Mr. Trump may have mastered the modes of communication, but not the substance, thereby sabotaging his own agenda.”
