The Murdochs hoped firing Bill O’Reilly would signal a changing culture at Fox News. “We want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect,” Rupert and his sons, James and Lachlan, wrote in a memo to Fox News employees on Wednesday. But the dismissal of Fox News’s highest rated host isn’t going to end the crisis at the network. The toxic culture, fostered for 20 years by former CEO Roger Ailes, is proving far more difficult to remedy.

Next week, according to sources, seven black Fox News employees plan to join a racial discrimination suit filed last month by two colleagues. The original lawsuit alleged that Fox News’s longtime comptroller, Judy Slater, subjected members of Fox’s payroll staff to racial insults for years. (Fox News fired Slater in February after those employees began litigation against the network.)

Lawyers representing the payroll employees are demanding that Fox’s accounting director, Tammy Efinger, also be removed from supervising an employee because she allegedly participated in Slater’s racist behavior. In a letter to the network’s lawyers obtained by New York, the attorneys state: “Not once did Ms. Efinger step in or attempt to interfere with Ms. Slater’s outrageous conduct.” The letter adds, instead, “Ms. Efinger chose to laugh or giggle following Ms. Slater’s vitriol.”

The letter also includes new allegations of racism in Fox News’s accounting department. According to the plaintiffs’ attorneys, Slater demanded that black employees hold “arm wrestling matches’” with white female employees in her office, just down the hall from Ailes’s office on the 2nd floor of Fox headquarters. “Forcing a black woman employee to ‘fight’ for the amusement and pleasure of her white superiors is horrifying. This highly offensive and humiliating act is reminiscent of Jim Crow era battle royals,” the letter says, referring to the practice of paying black men to fight blindfolded at carnivals for white spectators’ entertainment. The lawyers argue that Efinger bragged about wanting to “fight” a black employee.

The new claims, if true, reveal not just the failures of the legal and HR departments to deal with problematic managers but also just how deep the culture of discrimination and harassment may have run during Ailes’s reign.

Reached for comment, an attorney representing the employees, Jeanne Christensen, said, “There will be more complaints forthcoming in the next few days.”

A Fox News spokesperson said: “We can’t comment on a lawsuit that we haven’t seen yet.”

‘Trump Place’ Apartments Ditch Their Name After Residents Protest

A petition got hundreds of signatures.

Three New York City apartment buildings are removing Donald Trump’s name from their exteriors after residents started a “Dump the Trump” petition.

Workers were seen taking down the big gold “Trump Place” letters from one of the three buildings on the Upper West Side of Manhattan Wednesday morning.

The “Dump the Trump Name” petition, while not confirmed as the direct cause of the change, gathered 677 signatures after it was launched about a month ago.

“It’s nuts that we’re now living in a place that is advertising values that none of us believe in,” petition co-author Linda Gottlieb told CNBC. The petition cited Trump’s “appalling treatment of women, his history of racism, his attacks on immigrants, his mockery of the disabled, his tax avoidance, his outright lying,” that the name insults many of the minorities and immigrants who work in the building, and that the naming deal increases Trump’s net worth.

The three buildings were under contract to bear Trump’s name for a time, but that contract has ended, according to Marty McKenna, a spokesman for the buildings’ landlord, Equity Residential. The buildings will now be called simply by their Riverside Drive street addresses instead.

“Assuming a more neutral building identity will appeal to all current and future residents,” McKenna told HuffPost.

Fewer than 1 in 4 women would buy clothes from Ivanka Trump after her father’s toxic campaign

Donald Trump’s name is so toxic that it has harmed his own businesses or hotelsfor whom he has leased his name. But now that Trump name is beginning to have a huge impact on the rest of the family.

Just last month, the social media app FourSquare revealed data showing the decrease in foot traffic at Trump-named properties. The numbers were even lower for women, who are avoiding Trump brands in larger numbers.

This weekend, Raw Story explained how one woman’s boycott of Ivanka Trump’s fashion line and accessories has promoted other woman to respond in kind.

But that boycott has been turned into actual numbers. According to a Fortune report, fewer than one in four women would buy anything from Ivanka Trump’s brand. It’s unclear whether the boycott was the culprit or the bad press over the last year, but women don’t want Trump, whether for president or to wear on their bodies.

The national survey asked 1,983 voters if they would consider purchasing clothing from a Trump line and 57 percent said they would not. Only 23 percent said that they would with the remainder saying they weren’t sure. Those numbers are even worse when looking at a partisan breakdown. An overwhelming 75 percent of Democratic women refuse to buy the GOP candidate’s daughter’s products. Only 11 percent said they would.

“Ain’t Gonna Stay There, No” Customers Bail on Trump Properties

Seems that there is an unofficial boycott going on. Trump properties are dropping in value like a cannonball off a tall building. Customers are fleeing en masse, as he exposes his ass on national TV every day. Considering that many of his supporters come from the dregs of American society, it is unlikely many can fork over $500 or better a night for a hotel room.

Trump Hotel bookings plunge online as other companies enjoy growth

Donald Trump promises to “make America great again” if he’s elected president — but he might have a problem making Americans want to stay at his hotels again after his obnoxious campaign is over.

The presumed Republican presidential nominee has slapped his name onto all sorts of products and buildings — but it appears that Trump’s hateful campaign rhetoric may be damaging the Trump business brand, reported Priceonomics.

The website found that bookings at Trump Hotels’ most popular destinations have declined by 59 percent compared to last year.

Priceonomics analyzed hotel data from Hipmunk, one of the website’s customers and a travel search engine, and found that Trump Hotels’ six most-popular locations had been exempt from the overall increase in hotel bookings compared to last year.

“It seems that customers willing to spend $500 a night on a Trump Hotel room may not be fans of Trump the political candidate,” the website reported.

Trump Hotels made up 1.7 percent of all Hipmunk bookings last year in the major cities where they are located, but customers have been staying away in droves over the past three months, compared with the same three-month period last year.

His hotels in New York City and Las Vegas have seen their share of each city’s total bookings drop by more than 70 percent, and the Trump Hotel in Toronto has seen its share drop by 47 percent, while the one in Chicago has dropped by 31 percent.

Even in Atlantic City, where Trump Hotels have the highest percentage of a city’s total bookings, the Trump Taj Mahal has lost 17 percent of its market share.

Hipmunk’s customers tend to be younger and more urban than other customers, and Trump hasn’t fared especially well among that demographic.

But for now, at least, it appears Trump the politician might not be helping Trump the businessman.
