Colin Powell and Current GOP “Juvenile Candidates”

Gravitas has become a foreign word in the Republican lexicon…

Colin Powell trashes GOP candidates for their ‘junior high’ antics that ‘belittle the country’

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell took time out from expressing his admiration for the late First Lady Nancy Reagan to say a few words about the rancorous fighting going on between the remaining GOP presidential candidates.

Knock it off.

Speaking with NPR’s Michel Martin on All Things Considered, Powell called their antics “junior high tricks” and compared the GOP debates to Jerry Springer’s shows.

“To stand there and do junior high school tricks on one another is belittling the country and belittling the office to which they are striving,” Powell said while remembering the “lack of any nastiness” he saw when working in the Reagan White House.

Powell referred to comments made by talk show host Jerry Springer in an interview last week, where Springer said of the debates, “Our show is a circus, but the presidency of the United States is not supposed to be a circus.”

Powell agreed, saying, “Even Jerry Springer thinks it’s gone too far, and when Jerry Springer thinks you’ve gone too far, my friends, you have gone too far.”

Powell did not specify any particular candidates in a field that has been winnowed down to businessman Donald Trump, Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Jeb Bush

Jeb Bush plummets in latest national poll

Jeb Bush’s support among Republicans nationally has plummeted to the low single digits in the latest Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday, as the former Florida governor’s campaign seeks to hit refresh with its “Jeb Can Fix It” tour.

Donald Trump and Ben Carson, meanwhile, continued to lead the field, with Carson outperforming Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical general-election matchup.

In the latest poll, conducted after last week’s third GOP debate in which Bush delivered a mediocre performance, just 4 percent of Republican and independent Republican-leaning voters said they would support Bush in their state’s primary. In the September survey, Bush earned 10 percent, trailing Trump, Carson and Carly Fiorina. And in terms of favorability, no one polled lower than Bush, at a net-negative of 33 points. Just 25 percent of all registered voters surveyed said they had a positive opinion of him, while 58 percent said they had a negative one.

I guess fixing elections for your brother is a lot easier than fixing the polls…

Donna Brazile Hammers Benghazi Crazies

What fun! She shuts down Ken “The Kook” Cucinelli like nobody’s business!

Watch Donna Brazile single-handedly shut down CNN’s Benghazi panel: ‘This has been a partisan witch hunt’

Democratic strategist Donna Brazile on Sunday lashed out at Republicans on CNN’s State of the Union for trying to defend Benghazi investigations even after they had been linked to partisan efforts to destroy Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

In an interview that aired on Sunday, Major Bradley Podliska told CNN’s Jake Tapperthat Republicans on the House Select Committee on Benghazi fired him because he was more interested in getting to the truth behind the Benghazi attack than he was in using the committee to smear Clinton.

After former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli told a CNN panel that the Benghazi committee was important because “Americans have real questions,” Brazile interrupted.

“Let me stop you,” she said. “Because we’ve had eight investigative hearings. The State Department has spent $14 million responding to congressional requests. We know the defense department has spent an insurmountable amount of man and women hours. If Mr. [Trey] Gowdy and his Select Committee was interested in getting to the truth, they would have brought witnesses throughout the year to talk to intelligence, to talk to defense, to talk to the State Department.”

“This has been a partisan witch hunt,” Brazile continued. “What are they investigating now? Where are the public hearings? $4.6 million of taxpayers’ money.”

The Democratic strategist argued that Chairman Gowdy had not called former Defense Secretaries Robert Gates or Leon Panetta to testify “because he’s not interested in getting to the truth of what happened to four Americans. He wants to take down Hillary Clinton and that has been proven.”
