Disturbing Photo of Lynching at Popular Restaraunt

Yet another one for clueless (and/or racist) white folks who flunked morality training.

One – this is a public restaurant. I really don’t want my children exposed to something as grotesque as a hanging. Goes along with why pictures of dead bodies aren’t on the kiddies flash card set.

Two – The subject in this picture was a black man. The hanging was in Texas in 1895…’Nuf said. We well know about the slim to no connection between a black man committing a crime and actually having done a crime in Texas in the late 19th Century.

One would sincerely hope that this item isn’t on the list of franchise decor distributed to all of Joe’s Crab Shack franchisees. Regardless of the racial connotations, whomever placed such in a Family Restaurant ought to be standing at the end of a long long unemployment line about now.

This photo of a black man’s public hanging decorated a Joe’s Crab Shack table

Tyrone Williams and Chauntyll Allen said they went to Joe’s Crab Shack in Roseville, Minn., on Wednesday night for a friend’s early birthday dinner when they looked down at their table and saw it: a photograph, embedded inside of the table, depicting the public hanging of a black man.

“It had a cartoon character saying, ‘All I said was “I didn’t like the gumbo,’” in a joking manner,” Williams said at a news conference Thursday.

“I’m appalled,” Allen said at the news conference, organized by the Minneapolis NAACP. “I don’t understand why they think this is some kind of joke, the trauma we endured on our black body.”

Williams snapped a photo of the image titled “Hanging at Groesbeck, Texas on April 12, 1895″ and contacted the Minneapolis chapter of the civil rights organization.

Ignite Restaurant Group, Joe’s Crab Shack’s parent company, has since apologized for what it described as an offensive photo.

“We take this matter very seriously, and the photo in question was immediately removed,” Ignite Chief Operating Officer David Catalano said in a statement, KARE reported. “We sincerely apologize to our guests who were disturbed by the image, and we look forward to continuing to serve the Roseville community.”

While pleased that the photo was removed from the Roseville restaurant, Minneapolis NAACP president Nekima Levy-Pounds said in an interview Friday that “there are broader concerns about whether that type of racist decor exists in other Joe’s Crab Shack locations.”

“We have not seen a commitment from Ignite Restaurant Group that they will examine the decor in all of its restaurants and remove racist material,” Levy-Pounds told The Washington Post.

Williams and Allen alerted the Roseville manager of the photo soon after they saw it.

“He was apologetic and understanding,” Williams said. But the pair already felt “sick, confused,” and left the restaurant.

The scene depicted in the Joe’s Crab Shack table was the public hanging of Richard Burleson, a black man, who was convicted of murdering J.G. McKinnon, a white man.

30% of Republican Want to Bomb Disney’s Alladin

I think if the Democrats/Progressives want to win in this country, then all they have to do is to pass a law requiring a minimum IQ to vote.

Poll: 30 percent of GOP voters support bombing any Arab sounding nation — even the fictional land of Aladdin

According to a new Public Policy Polling (PPP) poll, 30 percent of Republican primary voters nationally support bombing Agrabah, the made up home of Disney’s Aladdin, and 34 percent support Donald Trump for president.

Of course, Trump leads the crowded pack of GOP presidential wannabes overall with a whopping 34 percent support nationally. His nearest rival, Ted Cruz, stands at 18 percent. Of those Republicans who would like to bomb the fictional land of Aladdin, support for Trump is at 45 percent. To their credit, 57 percent of Republicans at least responded that they weren’t sure if the U.S. should bomb the Arab sounding land while 13 percent opposed a bombing campaign in the Disney created nation.

Surprisingly, self-identified Tea Party members only accounted for 16 percent of respondents of the survey conducted over two days this week while half of all respondents identified as Evangelical Christians.

More than a quarter indicated that they would like to outright ban the religion of Islam from being practiced in the U.S. That number jumped to 42 percent of Trump supporters who think Islam should be illegal. Another 46 percent of Republican voters support a national Muslim registry although for 47 percent, shutting down all mosques is a bridge too far.

54 percent of all Republican primary voters support Trump’s call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States, while 36 percent believe Trump’s claims that thousands of Muslims in New Jersey were cheering from the rooftops on 9/11.

The full poll, which features a stunning Ben Carson drop to 6 percent support nationally, illustrates just how extreme the base of the Republican party has gotten. The only area in which the Republican presidential candidates appear to be more extreme than their base is, unsurprisingly, on a specific gun control issue. 80 percent of Republican primary voters support banning individuals on the terror watch list from purchasing firearms. The Republican party, however, has staunchly opposed the effort at the directive of the NRA.

About that Dumb Assed Border Wall

Millions of illegal immigrants flooded over the border to the US because of jobs. George W Bush and the Republican Reprobates took care of that problem. Since 2007, those folks – faced with unemployment – have been going home.

Unless you expect Syrian Refugees to cut grass and hang drywall for a living…Rethugs better be building that wall to keep them here.

More Mexicans Leaving Than Coming to the U.S.

More Mexican immigrants have returned to Mexico from the U.S. than have migrated here since the end of the Great Recession, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of newly available government data from both countries. The same data sources also show the overall flow of Mexican immigrants between the two countries is at its smallest since the 1990s, mostly due to a drop in the number of Mexican immigrants coming to the U.S.

From 2009 to 2014, 1 million Mexicans and their families (including U.S.-born children) left the U.S. for Mexico, according to data from the 2014 Mexican National Survey of Demographic Dynamics (ENADID). U.S. census data for the same period show an estimated 870,000 Mexican nationals left Mexico to come to the U.S., a smaller number than the flow of families from the U.S. to Mexico.

Measuring migration flows between Mexico and the U.S. is challenging because there are no official counts of how many Mexican immigrants enter and leave the U.S. each year. This report uses the best available government data from both countries to estimate the size of these flows. The Mexican data sources — a national household survey, and two national censuses — asked comparable questions about household members’ migration to and from Mexico over the five years previous to each survey or census date. In addition, estimates of Mexican migration to the U.S. come from U.S. Census Bureau data, adjusted for undercount, on the number of Mexican immigrants who live in the U.S….Read the Rest Here

Trevor Noah – Ben Carson – Rupert Murdoch

Ow! That one is going to leave a mark!

Meanwhile uber old white guy declares Ben Carson’s authenticity as a black man…

Rupert Murdoch tweeted that Ben Carson would make a good president in a peculiar way. “Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else,” he wrote Wednesday, suggesting that President Obama is not that. The media mogul’s comments sparked a firestorm online, to which he later responded by recommending a New York magazine article asking whether Obama had done enough to support the black community.

Santorum – Stuck on Stupid

Santorum: Calif. Schools Don’t Teach US History

Rick Santorum continued hisverbal assault on higher education today by accusing California universities of failing to “even teach an American history course.” The GOP candidate slammed UC universities during a speech in Wisconsin, Mediaite reports, saying that “I think it’s seven or eight” schools that neglect US history: “Just to tell you how bad it’s gotten in this country, where we’re trying to disconnect the American people from the roots of who we are, so they have an understanding of what America should be.”

But a University of California rep emailedThinkProgress to say that all UC undergraduate programs require US history credits. According to Mediaite, only the San Francisco campus fails to offer US history courses—because it’s a medical school. Perhaps Santorum is on a roll after calling President Obama “a snob” for wanting “everybody in America to go to college.” He’s not alone among Republicans, however: Mitt Romney has taken a whack at higher education by pooh-poohing the notion of student aid.

A Real Cookie Monster!

All this over a box of Thin Mints!

Thin Mint melee lands Naples woman in jail

A Naples woman was arrested Sunday after deputies say she attacked her roommate over a box of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies.

Hersha Howard, 31, of 7050 Ambrosia Lane, Apt. #3606, was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Howard’s roommate, Jasmin Wanke, told deputies she was asleep when Howard burst into her bedroom and accused her of eating the cookies.

Orange Jumpsuit time...Over a box of cookies.

Wanke said she gave them to Howard’s kids because they were awake and hungry at 1 a.m., according to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office report.

The women began to argue, then Howard reportedly jumped on top of Wanke and struck her in the face.

The two continued to fight until Wanke’s husband separated them.

When Wanke walked out of the bedroom, Howard grabbed a pair of scissors and began chasing and threatening Wanke, the report said.

As women ran down the stairs, Howard reportedly dropped the scissors, picked up a board and struck Wanke.

Wanke then ran to the kitchen, where Howard confronted and attacked her again, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

During the fight, Howard bit Wanke in the breast and continued to hit her until the two were separated again, the report said.

The women ran out of the house, then Howard reportedly picked up a sign and struck Wanke with it several times.

Wanke’s husband tackled Howard before deputies arrived and arrested her.

She was taken to the Naples Jail Center for booking.

Selling America Down the River

One of the most amazing, and despicable things about the current Tea Bagger “movement” is the focus on other Americans instead of issues really impacting America. It ain’t Jose or Rosita who are a threat to America…

It’s the folks who fund hating Jose and Rosita…

Who sold their own country down the river.

Now the problem here isn’t whether we can make tanks. We can make tanks – damn good ones in fact, in smaller manufacturing facilities scattered around the country. The problem here is the export of the high tech equipment to produce and manufacture electronic components – which increasingly are the heart of modern weapons systems. The only plants in the world, called foundrys,  now which can produce thse dense chips have been shipped off to China, automatically giving them the ability to produce weapons systems – from ICBMs to aircraft…

Every bit as good, and eventually better than those produced in the USA – now stuck with buying the components from China.

Republican Bush II screwed the country even further than Bush I.

The problem here is that as American corporations have increasingly shifted to importing high-tech labor and laying off Americans, and exporting R&D, the innovation level of American companies, and the ability to get new product in production has fallen through the floor.

You want to fix what is wrong with America – the first thing you have to do is deport the tea Buggers… Not Rosita and Jose. Rosita and Jose are contributing something.

You need an IQ test to get rid of the dumb assed MFs who continue to wank the national weenie on everything but that which is critical to our survival.

Industry experts: Less ‘made in USA’ puts security at risk

The decline in American manufacturing is risking the country’s security, experts will tell a congressional hearing on Wednesday.

Manufacturing industry experts will appear at a National Security Oversight Subcommittee on Capitol Hill tomorrow to examine the effects the decades-old downturn in U.S. manufacturing may have on the country’s national security.

The committee also will examine the problem of reliance on substandard and sometimes counterfeit foreign-made parts, a dependence stemming from the drop in U.S.-made products, a depleted manufacturing workforce, and outdated technology. That reliance could place the lives of American soldiers at risk, according to information released by the subcommittee.

“We have allowed our industrial base to deteriorate for the last two to three decades. As a result, just in national defense terms, our supply lines for strategic parts and materials have been stretched around the world,” said Jeff Faux, founding president and distinguished fellow of the Economic Policy Institute.

“As you watch globalization move the manufacturing base offshore, in essence you are moving the defense base offshore,” said Robert Baugh, executive director of the AFL-CIO, “This is dangerous”.

Both Faux and Baugh will testify Wednesday.

The nation’s manufacturers are being seduced by China where they can get more for their money due to an undervaluation of their currency, illegal subsidies, and a lack of enforceable laws regarding, worker rights, and environmental and health standards, Baugh told CNN.

China’s manufacturing sector is on the brink of passing that of the United States, according to a report released in June by the economic research firm IHS Global Insight. The value of goods produced by China’s factories reached about $1.6 trillion last year, compared to $1.7 trillion by U.S. manufacturers.

The nation’s capacity utilization, which compares the output of U.S. factories to their maximum potential production, fell to a record low of 68.2 percent in June of 2009, as Chrysler and GM plants essentially shut down due to the bankruptcy process at the two companies, and as other automakers and suppliers scaled back due to overall weakness in demand.

U.S. output has been increasing steadily every month since that reading, rising to 74.7 percent in August — the latest month for which data is available — but is still down from the average reading, which is about 81 percent.

The subcommittee will be looking to hear recommendations from the panel of experts to open up discussions with officials responsible for making manufacturing sector policies.

“It is critical that we focus on modernizing and improving our industrial base to improve our economy, provide better employment opportunities to Americans, and strengthen national security,” said Rep. John Tierney, D-Massachusetts, chairman of the subcommittee. “We have to start to think strategically about the industrial challenges we face and take aggressive action to fully address them.”

Said Faux, “We have a national security policy that is not connected to our economic policy and an economic policy that is not connected to our national security policy.”
