Teacher Attacks Black Kid for Sitting Out POA

There is no law requiring anyone to either recite the Pledge of Allegiance or stand for the flag…

Somebody needs to lock up these violent Chumph fascists.

Quite simply, faced with the Russian election of white supremacists Chumph and has selection of Sessions and their attempt to bring back Jim Crow – the is little reason to celebrate our failed Democracy.

Michigan teacher ‘violently snatches’ black 6th-grader out of chair when he refuses to stand for pledge

A Michigan teacher has been put on leave after being accused of “violently snatching” a black student from his seat because he refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

According to WDIV, 6th grader Stone Chaney was sitting in his homeroom class at East Middle School in Farmington Hills in his first week at the school when he was grabbed from behind by the teacher.

“The teacher consultant comes up behind me and snatches me out of my chair violently,” Stone explained to WDIV while demonstrating on his father how he was hoisted out of his chair. “I was so confused. I didn’t know what was going on.”

According to the 12-year-old, he was sitting during the pledge as he has done without incident since he was in the second grade.

“I don’t stand because I don’t pledge to a flag. I pledge to God and family,” the student explained, adding that the following day, another teacher yelled at him for the same offense.

The student’s father, Brian Chaney, said that the decision to not stand comes from his son and that he supports it. “It’s his choice to sit I don’t make him sit. And they should respect that,” his father explained. Stone’s parents are thinking of moving him out of the school.

According to the school, they are investigating the incident while the teacher is out on suspension.

“The District fully supports the right of each student to participate or not in the daily Pledge. The teacher allegedly involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave. At this time, the District cannot speculate about the outcome of the pending investigation,” reads a statement from the superintendent of Farmington Public Schools.

Student Who Filmed School Cop Attack Also Arrested

Unbelievable…

SC student arrested for recording school cop’s violent assault on classmate sitting in her desk

A South Carolina high school student who witnessed her classmate being physically abused by a school resource officer was arrested and held on $1,000 for filming the incident.

Niya Kenny, 18, told WLTX she was shocked and disturbed when she saw Officer Ben Fields flipping her female classmate out of her desk and pinning her to the ground for refusing to leave class.

“I was screaming ‘What the f, what the f is this really happening?’ I was praying out loud for the girl,” Kenny told WLTX. “I just couldn’t believe this was happening I was just crying and he said, since you have so much to say you are coming too. I just put my hands behind my back.”

The video, posted Monday by New York Daily News writer Shaun King, shows Fields wrapping his arms around the neck of the pony-tailed girl. He then flips her desk over backwards and throws her onto the ground, saying “put your hands behind your back.”

Kenny said her classmate is only about 5’6″ and said she never saw anything like it before.

“A man used that much force on a little girl, a big man, like 300 pounds of full muscle,” Kenny told the station. “I was like no way, no way, you can’t do that to no little girl.”

Her classmate wasn’t participating in math class at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, and was asked to leave by the teacher. The girl refused, so the teacher called an administrator, who called Fields.

Kenny’s mom, Doris Kenny, said her daughter was just standing up for the girl and said Field’s actions were excessive.

Niya Kenny was charged with “disturbing school,” which her mother questions.

“Who was really disturbing the school?” Doris Kenny asked. “Was it my daughter or the officer who came in to the classroom and did that to the young girl?”

Update – The girl who was slammed around suffered multiple injuries, and had just lost her Mom, and was placed in Foster care.

Black teen attacked by school cop has multiple injuries — and is an orphan who recently lost her mother

…Rutherford told the New York Daily News that the teen recently lost her mother and is living in a foster home. The teen’s foster mother said the girl was “devastated and emotionally traumatized by all that has happened to her,” according to the Daily News.

Rutherford said that lawmakers must tighten up restrictions on use of force by school resources officers such as Fields — who students say was “known for slamming”pregnant women and teenage girls to the ground.

“The legislature needs to take action, and make sure our students are not the targets of rogue police officers called ‘Officer Slam’ who are going to walk in and brutalize them at a moment’s notice,” Rutherford said.

Rutherford, who serves as the Democratic Minority Leader of the South Carolina House of Representatives, also plans to represent 18-year-old Niya Kenny — who was also arrested for “disturbing school” while video recording the violent attack on her classmate.

“We passed that law several years ago, and when we did arrests of students shot through the roof,” Rutherford told the TV station. “They were getting arrested for everything because it meets with the statute. The statute is unconstitutionally broad, and everyone knows it.”

The lawmaker said he was shocked by the deputy’s actions — which he said were completely unjustified.

“I had no words because that was something that simply should not happen,” Rutherford said. “It was a classroom. We’re not talking about a roadside setting where you’re worried about the safety of an officer, we’re not talking about any setting where the officer’s safety is in jeopardy and he needs to make sure he controls the situation. It was a classroom.”

He said school resource officers are placed in schools to protect students from outsiders and threats involving guns or knives — and not to punish students for showing disrespect…

Black College Students Harassed and Arrested in DC -For Being Too Close to ATM

This one started by a call from some white folks that 3 black students were making them nervous…The kid being mauled is Jason Goolsby, a Howard University Freshman, who looks like he weighs in at about 120 lbs wet. No charges were made, and Goolsby was released.

DC Metro police are alleging the suspects ran, but no arrests were made for evasion. Their report reads, “The individual resisted, and was handcuffed while resisting after he refused to stop,” and “The person making the video was interfering with police, and was also detained while the incident was investigated.” The report concludes, “Neither individual was arrested.” Police also told local media that they offered medical attention, but that the suspect refused it and fled after being detained.

In the video, two cops assault 18-year-old Jason Goolsby as he lies on the ground writhing in pain screaming “I’m not resisting!” In the background, his friend is heard screaming, “He didn’t do nothing!”

Banking while black: College students handcuffed after ‘uncomfortable’ white customers complain

A black man identified by his Twitter name @darealbighomiee claims he and his companion were assaulted and handcuffed by District of Columbia police officers because a white couple said they made them feel “uncomfortable.”

According to WJLA, the man and his friend — both identified as Howard University students — were hanging out near a bank ATM when they were approached by police officers who were responding to a call stating a “suspicious person” had been spotted and might be trying to rob people.

According the Metro Police report, three individuals were approached and one fled, leading to a chase.

“The individual resisted, and was handcuffed while resisting after he refused to stop,” the report stated. “The person making the video was interfering with police, and was also detained while the incident was investigated.’

The report concludes, “Neither individual was arrested.”

In the video, two cops can be seen wrestling with 18-year-old Jason Goolsby on the ground, pulling his arms behind his back as he screams, telling him to stop resisting.

Goolsby’s companion, who was filming the incident, can be heard repeatedly telling the police, “He didn’t do nothing.”

After one officer screams at him to back up, a third officer shows up and threatens the cameraman with arrest before a scuffle breaks out and the video stops.

In a later tweet linked to the video, @darealbighomiee wrote: “We were approached because a white couple felt uncomfortable around me and my friend in the bank, this is how the police responded …”

Police Office Slams Teen to Ground After Schoolyard Tiff

Another Over-the-Top reaction to what could have been handled as a “Sit down son, we are going to have a serious talk” moment in more rational times.

This is the reason Police should not be used to control kids. While I am perfectly in line with the need for a teacher to be able to bop them upside the head in certain situations, this sort of “criminalization” of a child by Law Enforcement has no benefits to society, or to the relationship between the community and its Police force.

Video shows officer grabbing student’s throat, slamming him to ground

A 14-year-old high school student says a school resource officer used excessive force when he grabbed the teen by the throat after the student and another boy were involved in a scuffle at a Texas high school cafeteria.

A cellphone video taken Thursday by a third student shows the officer placing his hands around sophomore Gyasi Hughes’ throat at Round Rock High School and taking Hughes to the ground. The video was given to CBS affiliate KEYE-TV, and can be seen in the above player.

Hughes, who was suspended for fighting but not charged, told KEYE-TV that the officer also pushed him.

Hughes’ father, Kashka, told KXAN-TV in Austin that what happened was “unacceptable” and that he plans to seek charges against the officer, who has not been identified.

“The police officer that was actually in this particular situation, he should have been trained well enough to know that this is a 130-pound child and that the action that was taken was totally unnecessary,” the elder Hughes said. The family didn’t immediately return messages from The Associated Press on Saturday.

Round Rock police said in a statement that a school administrator was unable to stop the two students from fighting and was forced to have police intervene. The officers were trying to calm Hughes and walk him to another part of the building, but the teen tried to circumvent the officers and continue the fight with the other student, according to the statement.

“Officers were forced to detain him for his safety and the safety of others,” police said, also noting that the incident is “under review.”

The family said the altercation was over prescription athletic eyewear that the younger Hughes had asked a friend to hold for him but didn’t return.

Gyasi Hughes told KXAN-TV that he later apologized to the officer for yelling at him.

His father said he lectured his son on how to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence.

“All of my family are teachers, my mother is a teacher, my father is a principal and was a superintendent for a long time before he retired,” Kashka Hughes said. “I’ve definitely seen how the guards in the schools as well as how my dad handled various situations when kids were in certain altercations.”

Hughes’ friend, Sebastian Vazquez told KEYE-TV that he was eating lunch when he heard the commotion.

“In the beginning, I heard people be like ooh and stuff, and it was Gyasi and this other kid, they were pushing each other around,” he told KEYE.

But Vazquez says it was never a full-blown fight, and things got more tense when the two school officers showed up. “Both cops got him in the corner, so I pulled my phone out to start recording because that seemed odd,” said Vazquez.

Black ISIS

ISIS has proved successful at trolling the Internet for recruits, right here in America. Not sure whether it is the lure of the sect…Or rejection of America.

FBI: Teen Girl ISIS Wannabe Praised Chattanooga Shooting

Before a 19-year-old girl from a small city in Mississippi was charged with attempting to travel toSyria to join ISIS, the young woman allegedly praised the Chattanooga shooting, which claimed the lives of five American servicemen.

“What makes me feel bette[r] after just watching the news is that an akhi [brother] carried out an attack against US marines in TN! Alhamdulillah [Thanks be to God], the numbers of supporters are growing,” Starkville resident Jaelyn Delshaun Young told an undercover FBI agent in a conversation online on July 17, a day after the deadly shooting, according to the FBI. Four Marines were killed in the attack and a Navy sailor later died of his wounds.

Overnight authorities unsealed a criminal complaint against Young and 22-year-old Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, another Mississippi resident. The FBI says the couple planned for months to travel to Turkey in order to slip into Syria and join ISIS.

“The only thing keeping me away is $$$ but working all of this overtime will be worth [it] when I am finally there,” Young reportedly said online.

The Vicksburg Post described Young as a high school honors student and a member of the homecoming court just two years ago. She attended Mississippi State and originally planned to become a doctor, the paper said. The FBI said she expressed interest in “giving medical aid to the injury [sic]” once she got to Syria.

According to an affidavit filed by an FBI agent, Young and Dakhlalla said they had an Islamic marriage for the purposes of traveling together to Syria. Initially, Dakhlalla allegedly said he wanted to use his computer science and media skills to help ISIS counter anti-ISIS messaging in the West, and then he would fight on ISIS’s behalf.

“I wish to be a mujahid akhi [holy warrior]. I am willing to fight. I want to be taught what it really means to have that heart in battle!” Dakhlalla allegedly told an undercover agent.

The couple appeared uninformed about many aspects of living under ISIS rule – they said they did not know much about Sharia [Islamic] law, and feared a test that was said to show if they were Sunni or not. ISIS follows an extreme version of Sunni Islam. Young also doubted Western media reports that ISIS uses sex slaves.

The FBI said authorities waited until the couple had their passports and plane tickets to Turkey before picking them up in a small Mississippi airport, where they allegedly confessed their plans. The couple has been formally charged with attempting to support a terrorist organization.

SJSU – Hate Crime on Campus As Student Abused

Read this one with a bit of disbelief at first.  Then, I thought about it. This is the logical outgrowth of the racist policies promoted by Ward Connerly, and the Prop 209 he promoted.

Although highly criticized by conservative whites, one of the functions of the Black Student Union back in the 60’s and 70’s was self protection. White conservatives didn’t like the idea that they couldn’t just round up a few of their neo-confederate buddies and beat the hell out of some black kid, without winding up in a donnybrook. The segregated California University system has apparently put that type of behavior back in play.

San Jose State students accused of tormenting black roommate are charged with hate crimes

First, his white roommates nicknamed him “Three-fifths,” referring to the way the government once counted blacks as just a fraction of a person. When he protested, they dubbed him “Fraction.”

Then they outfitted the four-bedroom dormitory suite they shared with a Confederate flag. They locked him in his room. They wrote the “N-word” on a dry-erase board in the living room. They fastened a bicycle lock around his neck and told him they lost the keys, then tried it again a few weeks later.

It may sound like something out of the civil rights struggles of the 1960s. But police reports indicate it happened last month in the Obama era to a black student at San Jose State University, a liberal campus boasting statues of Olympic athletes making a black power salute.

Late Wednesday, prosecutors filed misdemeanor hate-crime and battery charges against three of the student’s roommates over the alleged hazing, which has sparked anger in the community and on the diverse campus. The men are Logan Beaschler, 18, of Bakersfield; Joseph Bomgardner, 19, of Clovis; and Colin Warren, 18, of Woodacre (Marin County).

“This is outrageous,” said the Rev. Jethroe Moore II, president of the San Jose/Silicon Valley chapter of the NAACP. “This form of bullying cannot be tolerated.”

The students were not available for comment and it was unclear late Wednesday whether they had legal representation. They could face penalties ranging from probation to a year in jail if convicted, as well as university discipline.

University spokeswoman Pat Lopes Harris said the incident is still under investigation, and no decision has been made yet on whether the students will be sanctioned.

The alleged harassment began in late August when the freshman and seven other young white men — all assigned to live together — moved into the four-bedroom, on-campus suite. Eight weeks later, in mid-October, the freshman’s parents noticed a Confederate flag draped over a cardboard cutout of Elvis in the living room of the suite and a dry-erase board with the “N-word” scrawled on it, and reported it via housing officials to campus police. Two of the young men were immediately transferred to a different dorm.

But at least two residential assistants were aware before then that one of the roommates had tacked a Confederate flag to a bedroom window. They asked the young men to take it down “so it could not be seen by the general public,” but did not investigate any further, according to university police reports and campus-housing department memos.

The freshman, now 18, said in a brief telephone interview that he’s never experienced this kind of mistreatment, even though he was one of only a few black students at his high school in Santa Cruz. This newspaper is not naming him at his parents’ request because of the ongoing campus investigation.

“I’m still in shock,” he said, noting he tried not to spend much time in the suite and didn’t report the situation to campus police in hopes the conduct would stop. “I tried not to dwell on this. But my family is upset and I’m upset.”

He told university police he always locked his door at night because he was scared of most of the other students living in the four-bedroom suite. He also didn’t feel safe studying in his own room and believes his grades weren’t as good as they could be as a result.

The young men acknowledged during police interviews that they incessantly harassed the then-17-year-old, according to the reports. But they downplayed the incidents as mere “pranks” and “jokes,” denying their actions were racist.

University police, however, recommended that District Attorney Jeff Rosen file the case as a hate crime.

Prosecutor Erin West emphatically agreed, saying, “The District Attorney’s Office has no tolerance for those who criminally prey on others because they are different.”

Police reports, separate documents prepared by housing officials and photographs document the freshman’s ordeal. The events allegedly occurred after everyone in the suite attended a two-day orientation session this past summer that included sensitivity training.

After the nicknames, there followed a series of coercive incidents, including barring the freshman’s bedroom door with furniture several times to prevent him from coming out.

The first time they wrestled him to the ground, they succeeded in getting the metal bike lock around his neck, the suspects themselves told police. The second time, he managed to evade them, but he told police he got slightly banged up in the process.

One time, they removed the doorknob from inside a closet, and knowing that the freshman was claustrophobic, tried to induce him via a series of post-it messages around the suite to step inside it. One note referred to the closet as “the enrichment center,” and included a homophobic slur and the insult, “Eat —- and die.”

Investigators also found Nazi symbols in the apartment, including a picture of Adolf Hitler, the “SS” lightning bolt symbol and a swastika. They also discovered pictures of pentagrams, apparently intended to alarm the freshman, who is Christian.

After the freshman’s father talked to the roommates and reported the matter, the freshman received what police characterized as a “sarcastic apology note,” signed only “The Residents.” The note mentions “the Beloved Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr.” and urges the freshman to let bygones be bygones. It also contains a warning of sorts in the postscript: “The Residents have welcomed you, it is not advised to ignore the call of The Residents.”

Remember…”There is no racism in America!”

One can only wonder when Hannity will have the 4 boys on his show as the right’s new “victimized heroes”, and the local Tea Party will put out a national call for donations to the boy’s defense fund..

Cambridge University’s “first” Black Student

This is the story of an American, a black American who attended Cambridge University before the end of slavery in the United States.

What is interesting here is the phrase “first recorded black student”. It appears there were other black students at the University before Crummell, who were conveniently “forgotten” in the books. Considering that there is recent evidence of black folks being in England as early as the 13th Century, that is an interesting point to explore.

Cambridge University’s ‘first’ black student pioneer

Alexander CrummellThe story of Cambridge University’s first officially recorded black student is being told as part of the university’s Festival of Ideas.

Alexander Crummell was an American minister and the son of a freed slave who studied at Queens’ College, Cambridge, in the late 1840s.

While it appears he was not the first black student at Cambridge, he is the first for whom official records exist.

Cambridge lecturer Sarah Meek said he was seen as an “object of curiosity”.

She continued: “One of his servants, when she was dismissed by his wife Sarah, called the Crummells ‘black devils’, so they were obviously not immune to the kind of prejudice we might imagine.”

But at the same time he was a mature student who “was a respected, grown-up figure”.

During his university vacations he toured the country delivering anti-slavery lectures, and as a minister gave sermons in local churches.

Slavery had been abolished on British soil in the early 1800s, and in British colonies in the 1830s.

The anti-slavery campaigners Thomas Clarkson and William Wilberforce were both Cambridge graduates and the university was seen as an important centre for the abolitionist movement.

Writing in 1847 Crummell said: “Perhaps no seat of learning in the world… has done more for human liberty and human well-being than this institution.”

Crummell grew up in New York. His father was a freed slave and his mother a free-born woman from Long Island.

He attended one of the African Free Schools set up by New York abolitionists to educate the children of freed slaves.

But while slavery had been abolished in the northern United States, prejudice continued.

When Crummell and two of his New York classmates were awarded places at a secondary school in New Hampshire, they were driven away by an outraged local community.

Alexander CrummellHe continued his studies in New York, and was eventually ordained in the Episcopal church, which is connected with the Church of England.

It was this membership of the Episcopal church which would later allow him to study at Cambridge. If he had been a Methodist or Presbyterian, Jewish or Roman Catholic, he would not have been able to take up a place at Cambridge until 1871.

After graduating Crummell spent 20 years in the freed slave colony of Liberia before returning to New York.

Dr Meek said: “Back in the United States he was a leader and writer who influenced many subsequent writers.”
