French RIght Wing Terrorist Not Much Different From American Counterparts

French Nazis aren’t any different than their American counterparts… Now unlike the US where drive-bys and school shootings enabled by our out of control gun culture are an everyday occurance – this level of violence is something drastic for France, as it is in most of the world.

Sarkozy: Gunman in French shootings driven by racism

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said that the same gunman who shot dead a teacher and three children at a Jewish school in Toulouse on Monday was also responsible for the killing of three soldiers last week, apparently motivated by racism.

“We know that it is the same person and the same weapon that killed the soldiers, the children and the teacher,” Sarkozy said in a televised address, saying the terrorism alert level in France had been raised.

“This act is odious and cannot remain unpunished.”

Sarkozy also said he would suspend his campaign for France’s April-May presidential election until Wednesday.

French paper Le Point reported that French police are searching for three former paratroopers in connection with the Toulouse Jewish school shooting that left four dead.

According to the report, the paratroopers were dismissed over suspicion of being neo-Nazis in 2008. The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the report.

French police said earlier Monday that forensic evidence revealed the gun used to kill four people — a teacher, his two children and another child — at the Ozar Hatorah school was the same used to slay three French soldiers on two separate occasions nearby.

The victims in the shootings were all members of minority groups but the exact motivation of the killer is yet unknown.

The first murder linked to the gun took place on March 11. Police found the body of Imad Ibn-Ziaten, a 30-year-old staff sergeant of North African descent, dead behind a school in Toulouse. Investigators suspect the off duty serviceman was lured there by his murderer.

Last Thursday a gunman riding a scooter and wearing a black helmet opened fire on three French soldiers in uniform at a shopping mall in Montauban, a city 50 kilometers north of Toulouse. Abel Chennouf, 24, and Mohamed Legouad, 26, both of North African descent, were killed. Loic Liber, 28, of Afro-Caribbean descent, was left in a coma.

On Monday morning a motorcyclist similar in description to the gunman involved in the second attack drove up to the entrance of Ozar Hatorah in Toulouse and opened fire on a group of parents and children that gathered outside on the start of the school day.

Yonathan Sandler, a 30-year-old teacher from Jerusalem; his two children Aryeh, 6, and Gavriel, 3; and 8-year-old Miriam Monstango, the daughter of the school’s principal, died in the attack and several others were wounded.

“We are struck by the similarities between the modus operandi of today’s drama and those last week even if we have to wait to have more elements from the police to confirm this hypothesis,” said French President Nicolas Sarkozy at a press conference.

French police have launched a massive manhunt for the suspect while French Interior Minister Claude Gueant has ordered increased security at Jewish schools throughout the country.

Sarkozy, who is facing an election later this year, is personally overseeing the investigation in Toulouse. In a press conference, he vowed to find the perpetrator of the attacks…

What’s the Deal With the New Benetton Ads?

See the rest here. Benetton better have some serious insurance on their stores…

Benetton ‘Unhate’ Campaign Shows World Leaders Kissing

There’s no doubt that these are the pictures of the day. U.S. President Barack Obama kissing his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Abbas embracing Benjamin Netanyahu, and Germany’s Angela Merkel locking lips with Nicolas Sarkozy. Is this bad fan fiction? A new approach to international diplomacy?

The stunning (albeit photoshopped) images are part of a new campaign by the United Colors of Benetton. Alessandro Benetton, executive deputy chairman, who presented the ads in Paris on Wednesday, said they were meant to promote the idea of “unhate,” The Times Of India writes. “The images are very strong, but we have to send a strong message. We are not wanting to be disrespectful of the leaders … we consider them “conception figures” making a statement of brotherhood with a kiss,” he reportedly said.

Benetton hopes the campaign will contribute to the creation of a culture of tolerance and combat hatred, the group writes. It plans a series of live actions in which young people will post the images of the smooching world leaders “on the walls of locations symbolic of the desperately-needed peace process: Tel Aviv, New York, Rome, Milan, Paris.”

There have already been fierce reactions to the controversial shots. According to the Belgian news channel RTL, President of the Italian Association for Catholic Viewers Luca Borgomeo asked for the immediate withdrawal of the campaign. “Is it possible that RTL can’t think of anything better?” he said, according to a HuffPost translation.

“The White House has a longstanding policy disapproving of the use of the president’s name and likeness for commercial purposes,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz told The Huffington Post.

Benetton is known for its controversial ads, including one of a young nun kissing a priest.

Sarkozy – Out With La Marseillaise, and … in with… Making Whoopee!

Oh My! Quit your grinnin’…

And drop your flag…Indeed! Can you imagine the fake moral outrage in this country by conservatives if the President of the United States let on that he was having sex… With his wife!

Sarkozy & wife made a head of state wait while they were having sex

In a new book to be released next week, The Promise: President Obama, Year One, Jonathan Alter “reveals that, during a visit to the US, France’s first lady, former supermodel-turned-singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, bragged to her American counterpart Michelle Obama how she and French president Nicolas Sarkozy had made a head of state wait while they were having sex,ABC News reports.

Writes Alter: “Bruni wanted to know if, like the Sarkozys, Michelle and the President had ever kept anyone waiting that way. Michelle laughed nervously and said no.”

France – Bus Fare for Rachida Dati

Could you imagine the uproar in the US if the next time Joe Biden sticks his foot in his mouth…

Obama would take away his perks of office?

Rachida Dati

I mean – back to riding Amtrak every day, Joe! On your own dime!

Nicolas Sarkozy, the French Prime Minister, who apparently hasn’t met a good-looking French woman of color he couldn’t appoint to a cabinet position…

At least now that he is married.

And with Rachida Dati, Rama Yade, and newly appointed Jeannette Bougrab, Sarkozy has a lock on the most attractive women of color on the “continent”.

Such charm doesn’t come without a cost apparently – as Rachida has “stepped in it” –

Ex-French minister Dati loses perks: report

Jeannette Bougrab

France’s ex-justice minister Rachida Dati has lost her chauffeur-driven limousine and bodyguards after annoying President Nicolas Sarkozy with a recent TV appearance, reports said Wednesday.

Dati, who fell out of favour with Sarkozy last year and now serves as a member of the European parliament, turned up on national television this month to comment on regional elections in which Sarkozy’s party was roundly defeated.

After spotting Dati on the screen and complaining that she had been absent from the campaign trail, Sarkozy called the head of national police and asked that she be stripped of her limousine, chauffeur and security detail, the Canard Enchaine satirical weekly reported.

Rama Yummy..errrr...Yade

Aides to Dati confirmed some aspects of the report.

“We are talking essentially about three police officers who were told to end their assignment on March 14”, the night that Dati went on television, said the official.

“It’s not clear that it was a decision taken by the president,” he said. “What is certain is that it was a decision by the interior minister.”

The interior ministry said former ministers are allowed to keep their limousines and security detail for six months after they leave the government and that Dati’s time had expired.

The 44-year-old Dati became the first French Arab woman to hold a powerful post in government when she was named justice minister in 2007 after Sarkozy’s election.

A fixture of celebrity magazines, Dati has recently been seen once again in Sarkozy’s entourage, fuelling speculation that she could return from political exile in the Strasbourg assembly.

Damn… this is a hell of a lot more fun than ugly-assed Republicans…

France – Rachida Dati Runs for Mayor of Paris

A new challenge for Rachida Dati – Mayor of Paris?

I’ll probably start in international war with this on the scale of Freedom Fries – but until recently I never conflated the words French Woman…

And hot. I guess I was too young for the Bridgette Bardot school.

Rachida Dati

Rachida Dati (left), French First Lady Carla Bruni Sarkozy (right)

Even when admiring the fairer skinned beauties. Up North, Yeah! Italy? Yeah! Paris? Hmmmmmm…

I mean Thomas Jefferson saw fit to bring Sally Hemmings.

And yeah, I’ve been to Paris, Marseilles, and Nice several times.

Then along comes their new President Sarkozy, who added …

Some tan to the situation, along with what had to have been one of the best looking Cabinets in the world – which apparently he’s already fired…

French Secretary of State for Sports, Rama Yade

French Secretary of State for Sports, Rama Yade

And then goes and marries quite possibly the second most attractive First Lady in the world (behind Michelle, of course). Read the rest of this entry »
