ANOTHER Fox News Lawsuit Grows – Racial Harassment of Black Employees

What has been obvious to a lot of observers for a long time, with the Faux News Network constant stream of on-air racism and vitriol is that it had serious problems, Not just with its on-air personalities, buy down in the very structure of the company.

Bigots hire bigots…and sexual molester stick together.

Bill O’Reilly Is Gone, But Fox News’s Legal Nightmare Continues

The Murdochs hoped firing Bill O’Reilly would signal a changing culture at Fox News. “We want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect,” Rupert and his sons, James and Lachlan, wrote in a memo to Fox News employees on Wednesday. But the dismissal of Fox News’s highest rated host isn’t going to end the crisis at the network. The toxic culture, fostered for 20 years by former CEO Roger Ailes, is proving far more difficult to remedy.

Next week, according to sources, seven black Fox News employees plan to join a racial discrimination suit filed last month by two colleagues. The original lawsuit alleged that Fox News’s longtime comptroller, Judy Slater, subjected members of Fox’s payroll staff to racial insults for years. (Fox News fired Slater in February after those employees began litigation against the network.)

Lawyers representing the payroll employees are demanding that Fox’s accounting director, Tammy Efinger, also be removed from supervising an employee because she allegedly participated in Slater’s racist behavior. In a letter to the network’s lawyers obtained by New York, the attorneys state: “Not once did Ms. Efinger step in or attempt to interfere with Ms. Slater’s outrageous conduct.” The letter adds, instead, “Ms. Efinger chose to laugh or giggle following Ms. Slater’s vitriol.”

The letter also includes new allegations of racism in Fox News’s accounting department. According to the plaintiffs’ attorneys, Slater demanded that black employees hold “arm wrestling matches’” with white female employees in her office, just down the hall from Ailes’s office on the 2nd floor of Fox headquarters. “Forcing a black woman employee to ‘fight’ for the amusement and pleasure of her white superiors is horrifying. This highly offensive and humiliating act is reminiscent of Jim Crow era battle royals,” the letter says, referring to the practice of paying black men to fight blindfolded at carnivals for white spectators’ entertainment. The lawyers argue that Efinger bragged about wanting to “fight” a black employee.

The new claims, if true, reveal not just the failures of the legal and HR departments to deal with problematic managers but also just how deep the culture of discrimination and harassment may have run during Ailes’s reign.

Reached for comment, an attorney representing the employees, Jeanne Christensen, said, “There will be more complaints forthcoming in the next few days.”

A Fox News spokesperson said: “We can’t comment on a lawsuit that we haven’t seen yet.”

Faux News Sued for Racial Harassment

Fox has been on the receiving (and losing) end of a number of lawsuits relative to sexual harassment. Hard to believe that that cesspool isn’t also a hotbed of racism.

As to “taking complaints seriously”…Go see the guy in HR, You will know his office by the confederate flag on the wall.

Two black women hit Fox News with lawsuit claiming ‘top-down racial harassment’

Two black women filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Fox News for racial discrimination they experienced while working at the news network, the New York Times reports.

Tichaona Brown and Tabrese Wright, who managed and coordinated the payroll department, accused Fox’s former comptroller, Judith Slater, of “top-down racial harassment.” Brown and Wright allege in their case that Slater made comments calling black men “women beaters” and about black people wanting to cause physical harm to white people.

The women filed the suit in State Supreme Court in the Bronx. Their lawyers, Douglas H. Wigdor and Jeanne Christensen, said, “We are confident that the good men and women of the Bronx will hold Fox accountable for what we believe to be its abhorrent racist conduct, reminiscent of the Jim Crow era.”

In a statement to Mediaite, Fox News said, “We take any complaint of this nature very seriously and took the appropriate action in investigating and firing Ms. Slater within two weeks of this being brought to our attention. There is no place for abhorrent behavior like this at Fox News.” Slater was fired on Feb. 28.

A Fox news spokesperson issued the following statement to Raw Story:

We take complaints of this nature very seriously and took prompt and effective remedial action before Ms. Brown and Ms. Wright sued in court and even before Ms. Wright complained through her lawyer. There is no place for inappropriate verbal remarks like this at Fox News. We are disappointed that this needless litigation has been filed.

The lawsuit was filed the same day host Bill O’Reilly made a racist and sexist comment about California Rep. Maxine Waters’ hair, calling it her “James Brown wig.”

This not the first time Fox News has faced a discrimination lawsuit in the last year. The network’s former CEO Roger Ailes was ousted in July, 2016 over a sexual harassment lawsuit. O’Reilly was accused of similar harassment.

Racial Harassment Cause of Hartford Shootings?

There is always a back story of why whackjobs justify mass murder. At least this one didn’t get his marching orders from Glenn Beck – which is scant consolation…

Hartford Distributors Shooting: "He's Never Been Violent," Says Gunman's Ex-Girlfriend

Omar Thornton, the alleged shooter of multiple co-workers at Hartford Distributor

Report: alleged Hartford Distributors shooter claimed racial harassment

Nine people are dead in a workplace shooting in a Manchester, Ct., beer-distribution warehouse, and an unknown number are wounded.

On Tuesday morning, Omar Thornton, a driver for Hartford Distributors, went on a shooting rampage during a morning shift change, and then killed himself, police say.

Mr. Thornton, who had worked for the company for a couple of years, had been called in for a disciplinary hearing, according to reports, and was on his way there this morning. It was unclear whether the meeting had taken place before he started shooting.

According to Brett Hollander, the director of marketing at the company, between 50 and 70 people were in the warehouse when Thornton opened fire around 7 a.m. A fire in the warehouse – which has been put out – added to the chaos. Thornton eventually turned his semiautomatic rifle on himself as police approached.

Mr. Hollander, whose family owns the company, says his cousin, who was shot in the face and arm, was among the wounded. Hollander thinks his cousin will be OK.

“There was a guy that was supposed to, was asked to resign, to come in to resign and chose not to and shot my cousin and my co-workers,” Hollander told the Associated Press.

It’s still unclear why Thornton was being disciplined, though a source told the Hartford Courant that he had been suspected of stealing from the company. Joanne Hannah, a former neighbor of Thornton whose daughter had dated him, also told the Courant that Thornton, who is black, had complained about racial harassment at work and that his superiors had refused to address his complaint.

The shooting is the deadliest in the US since 13 people were shot and killed at Fort Hood, Texas, last November.

The shooting “was a senseless act of violence that has left us all shaken and reminds us just how precious and fragile life truly is,” said Connecticut Gov. Jodi Rell in a statement of condolence to the victims’ families.

More –

Joanne Hannah, who said she was the mother of Thornton’s girlfriend, told ABC Thornton had called his mother this morning, apologizing for what he had done and saying goodbye.

Hannah said Thornton had complained for a long time about racial harassment, and claimed he had pictures in his cell phone of the N-word and a hangman’s noose scrawled on a bathroom wall at Hartford Distributors.
