North Carolina Tea Partiers prepare to ‘start killing the hell out of’ Muslims to stop Sharia law

A group of tea partiers and other conservatives riled up by Facebook conspiracy theories gathered last week at a North Carolina seafood restaurant to discuss their plans to violently oppose Sharia law.

Nearly two dozen participants, some of whom claimed membership in right-wing militia groups, expressed fears that the Muslim minority have already imposed their religious beliefs on other Americans, reported Triad City Beat.

Presenter Tom Jones sketched out a conspiracy theory involving the Muslim Brotherhood and the “progressive left” to build mosques and Islamic schools, which he warned will then be used to undermine democratic and Christian institutions.

“The Muslim Brotherhood is behind all that terrorism and violent acts, but they’re also here operating in America in a very stealthy mode,” Jones said, according to the newspaper. “They’ve infiltrated the judiciary. They have judges that are elected to the bench. These judges are expected to make rulings from the bench here in America according to Sharia law even though it’s not a Sharia court. If you’ve got a Muslim judge he’s required to try you under Sharia law. These people are in high positions of influence often behind the scenes in government, academia, medicine, the media.”

Conservative media frequently warn about Sharia law, which loosely describes both a personal moral code and the general religious law used in majority Muslim nations, and some states — including North Carolina — have moved to ban its influence on courts.

“Do you have any recommendations as to how we could stop this?” said Frank del Valle, of Winston-Salem. “Because my only recommendation is to start killing the hell out them.”

Del Valle, whose Facebook page shows he’s a Latin musician and former federal employee, said he’d watched his native Cuba fall to the communists and wasn’t willing to see the same thing happen in the U.S.

“The Muslims are doing the exact same thing, so I am very aware of that,” del Valle said. “I have been talking about that for a long time.”

Another participant, a former field director for the Koch-backed Americans For Prosperity and an activist with Faith and Freedom Coalition, told the gathering that one of the Women’s March organizers, Linda Sarsour, wanted to impose her Islamic beliefs on the U.S.

“All those women who showed up in D.C. who appear to be mainstream and supported her, raved about how she’s so great don’t realize that she’s the same one who agrees with Sharia law and will be person who stands beside them and also the same person who slices their neck,” said Robert Watkins, the conservative activist.

Jones, the presenter, warned that Muslim Brotherhood had been operating “training centers” in the U.S. since the early 1980s — which motivated a Tea Party activist from Tennessee to plot a violent attack on a New York village identified by conservative media as a terrorist training camp.

That conservative activist, 65-year-old Robert Doggart, was convicted last week on several federal charges in connection with that violent plot.

The crowd gathered at Captain Tom’s Seafood, in Kernersville, N.C., fretted about the growing number of mosques and foreign-looking doctors they’ve seen in recent years, and Jones urged them to start making preparations for what he saw as an inevitable conflict.

“I don’t know how you say ‘deep doo-doo’ in Arabic, but we’re in it,” Jones said. “We’re in deep doo-doo, ya’ll. This is serious stuff. This is not games. These people do not play. If I put a gun to your head and ask you what you believe, you may not be able to tell, but I guarantee you these people can tell you what they believe.”

Del Valle, who the newspaper pointed out was the only attendee to specifically endorse violence, took the bait.

“I’ll shoot them before they can ask me,” he said.

Anne Arundel officer suspended after Oath Keepers hat spotted in cruiser

Anne Arundel County police say an officer has been suspended for displaying a hat bearing the name of an anti-government group in a cruiser.Media outlets report that department spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure confirmed Tuesday that the officer’s police powers were suspended pending the outcome of an internal investigation. A photo of the hat, which displayed the name “Oath Keepers,” was shared with the department Monday after it was spotted in a grocery store parking lot.

The organization is made up of current and former military and police who vow to uphold the Constitution, but it has caught the attention of hate-watch groups.

Chief Timothy Altomare says the hat appears to violate the department’s policy against officers espousing political beliefs and such conduct won’t be tolerated.

Three Men Charged With Plotting Attack On Somali Immigrants In Kansas

Three men have been arrested and charged with planning to use a weapon of mass destruction in a terrorist attack on a mosque and housing complex in a western Kansas town where Somali immigrants live and worship,according to the U.S. Justice Department.

The men were part of a militia group whose members called themselves “The Crusaders,” Acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said at a news conference. They had conspired to detonate a bomb at an apartment complex in Garden City, Kan., which houses about 120 people, many of whom are Muslim.

The defendants had allegedly conducted surveillance of the housing complex, stockpiled firearms and bomb-making materials and had even written a manifesto that was to be published in conjunction with the attack, which was scheduled for Nov. 9, the day after the presidential election.

“One of [the defendants] said the bombing would ‘wake people up,’ ” Beall said.

The arrests come after an eight-month investigation of the three men, identified as Curtis Allen, 49, Gavin Wright, 49, and Patrick Eugene Stein, 47. During that time, investigators say, the men considered a number of targets, including churches and public officials who supported Somali immigrants, as well as landlords who rented to Somalis.

They allegedly settled on the apartment complex. Some local people call the complex “Somali Town,” says Garden Valley Church pastor Steve Ensz.

Ensz’s church is about a mile from the apartment complex and helps refugees acclimate to life in western Kansas. He tells NPR he was “saddened, but not surprised” to hear the news and says that most people in Garden City are “good moral people, welcoming to refugees.”

When told that the defendants allegedly wanted to “wake people up,” Ensz said, “They’re the ones that need to be woken up.”

If convicted, the three men would face up to life in federal prison.

Trump campaign co-chair arrested for conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States

Jerry Delemus, the husband of a New Hampshire Republican lawmaker and co-chair of the state’s “Veterans for Trump” coalition, was arrested Thursday for his role in the armed standoff nearly two years ago at the Bundy ranch.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Delemus on nine federal charges — including conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, threatening a federal law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, attempting to impede or injure a federal law enforcement officer and several firearms charges, reported Portsmouth Patch.

The Tea Party activist and outspoken Donald Trump supporter traveled cross-country in 2014 to take part in the armed standoff between Bureau of Land Management agents and Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his militia supporters in a dispute over unpaid grazing fees.

He was apparently the security team member who asked Jerad and Amanda Miller toleave the Bundy ranch just weeks before they gunned down two Las Vegas police officers.

Delemus also traveled to Oregon in January to take part in the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Preserve.

His wife, state Rep. Susan Delemus (R-Rochester) announced the arrest to the former chairman of New Hampshire’s Republican Party — who issued a call on Facebook for “all NH patriots to come together ASAP” to ”protest this tyranny in the most visible way possible.”

“She said that the FBI just rolled up with lots of vehicles and Agents who were in tactical gear,” posted Jack Kimball, the former GOP chair. ”They forced their way into Jerry Delemus and Sue’s condo with weapons drawn and arrested Jerry and took him away.”

Delemus and his wife have been quoted multiple times by local and national media about their support for Trump.

Susan Delemus gained a measure of fame after she declared every politician but Trump was lying to her through the television.

“We’ve got people in positions of power who I know for a fact are liars. Liars!” Delemus said. “I watch the TV — My president comes on the TV and he lies to me! I know he’s lying. He lies all the time.”

She also made news four years ago, when she angrily confronted state officials in an attempt to keep Obama off the ballot in New Hampshire, causing the assistant secretary of state to fear for his safety.

Most recently, Susan Delemus made news for siding with Trump in his feud with Pope Francis.

“The Pope is the anti-Christ,” Susan Delemus posted on her own Facebook page. “Do your research.”

Jerry DeLemus switched over in July from Sen. Ted Cruz’s leadership team in New Hampshire, and instead backed Trump because he’s an “anti-politician.”

The failed candidate for “constitutional candidate” also organized the infamous rally where Trump failed to correct a man who called Obama a Muslim.

Ammon Bundy Arrested, Follower Killed, During Confrontation With Law Enforcement In Oregon

Ammon Bundy, leader of the month-long militant occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns, Oregon, was arrested Tuesday in a highway confrontation with law enforcement that killed one of his followers and wounded another, according to the FBI.

Bundy and four followers were arrested in a traffic stop in which shots were fired, the FBI said in a statement.

The FBI said the shootings happened when agents, along with Oregon state troopers, stopped a vehicle to arrest people involved in the armed occupation on charges of conspiracy to impede federal officials from discharging their duties.

“During that arrest, there were shots fired,” the FBI said. “One individual who was a subject of a federal probable cause arrest is deceased. … One individual suffered non-life threatening injuries.”

A sixth person involved in the occupation was arrested about 90 minutes later in Burns, the FBI said.

“We have been informed that Ammon was taken in to custody while outside the refuge and that shots were fired, but confirmation of these details is still lacking,” the Bundy Ranch said on its Facebook page.

First Bundy Oregon Militia Member Arrested

On Friday afternoon, the Oregon State Police reportedly made their first arrest of a member of Ammon Bundy’s militia who’ve occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge since January 2. Kenneth Medenbach, 62, was nabbed by police after allegedly driving a federal vehicle to a local Safeway supermarket. The Crescent, Ore., resident has been charged with theft of two federal vehicles—both of which have reportedly been impounded. Mendenbach has previously been cited as a member of the Oregon militia.

The “Snatch Man” Returning Federal Property

The agency said police recovered two U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service vehicles “previously reported” as stolen to the sheriff’s office.

A spokesman at law enforcement’s joint information center told NewsChannel 21 “the vehicles were reported stolen after the situation started” at the refuge.

OSP troopers and deputies from several county sheriff’s offices called in to help patrol the area responded to the scene.

“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is grateful for the quick actions from law enforcement,” said USFWS spokeswoman Megan Nagel. “We will continue to work with law enforcement to recover vehicles bought and paid for by the American people to care for their national wildlife refuge.”

A March 2014 article in The Bulletin said a La Pine-area property on U.S. Highway 97 had Medenbach, “known locally as the wood carver,” as its longtime tenant but had recently vacated the property.

He operates Chainsaw Creations in Crescent, according to a Website devoted to his work, including various carvings and cabins.

A 2002 book by Robert L. Snow called “Terrorists Among Us: The Militia Threat,” also included Medenbach, referring to him as “a member of the Oregon Militia” who had a number of confrontations with county officials regarding building codes on his five-acre property near La Pine. The book said Medenbach was building his dream home out of discarded refrigerators, water heaters and other such material.

“A ‘code’ is only a suggestion. It’s not a law,” he was quoted as saying, adding, “He subscribes to the legal theory that the courts have no authority over him because all judges belong to the state bar association, which he believes is unconstitutional.”

“I’m willing to pay the price for my convictions,” said Medenbach. “Someday, when the laws become too stringent, people will start waking up.”

Meanwhile, the community the group planned Friday night in Burns has been canceled after county officials denied them permission to hold it at the county-owned fairgrounds.

Travis Williams of the Harney County Safety Committee announced the cancellation Friday morning: “There is no meeting tonight.”

A spokesman for the group, Arizona rancher Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, said they are hoping to reset the meeting for Monday, if they can find a place to hold it.

Finicum acknowledged Friday that not everybody in Harney County wants the group there, adding, “But it’s not about the masses. It’s about the individual.”

Two weeks in, the group’s motives are unwavering: “This land must never be returned to the federal government,” Finicum told NewsChannel 21 during an interview Friday…More…

Anti-Obama march organizer fatally shoots right-wing militant buddy in drunken dispute over gun

Planning for a cross-country march to “restore America” — which is related to the Oregon nature preserve standoff — appears to have hit a snag when one of its organizers shot the other co-founder Monday afternoon during a drunken argument over a gun.

Sheriff’s deputies in Grayson County, Texas, have not released details about the fatal shooting, but social media posts by right-wing “patriots” associated with militants occupying an Oregon nature preserve identified the victim and shooter as the organizers of the Paul Revere 2016 Final March To Restore America.

“Dear friends it’s my dearest regrets to have to share this heart breaking new (sic) with you tonight. That OUR fellow patriot and brother Charles Carter is no longer with us. He gone to be with Jesus. Today killed by a fellow patriot Vincent Smith. Who was suppose (sic) to be his brother in arms and friend,” posted online radio host Keith Williams, who described himself as the victim’s next of kin.

Bill Williamson, another right-wing “patriot” associated with the Oregon militants, said in a Facebook post that Smith shot Carter in a drunken dispute over a gun.

Williamson, an organizer of the failed 2 Million Bikers 2 DC rally, said he had been communicating with Carter through Facebook messages minutes before his friend attacked Smith.

He said Carter was intoxicated and pulled Smith’s gun from its holster, but Smith drew a “spare gun” and shot his friend in the head.

Locals Rally Against Militants In Oregon: ‘Knock This Crap Off’

The vast majority at a community meeting indicated they wanted the armed protesters to peacefully leave.

BURNS, Ore. — Hundreds of locals from Harney County, Oregon, packed a fairgrounds building on a freezing Wednesday evening to urge armed militants occupying a federal building to go home.

But even though the attendees disagreed with the occupiers’ aggressive tactics, some said they were grateful to them for drawing attention to the community’s economic struggles.

“Let’s just knock this crap off and go back to being friends and neighbors,” said lifelong resident Jesse Svejcar. He said he disagreed with the protesters, but added: “I will thank them, if nothing else, they gave a lot of good people in this county a voice.”

The meeting, hosted by Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward, opened with a prayer. The sheriff walked to the front of the room to resounding applause, with some boos in the back. He told the crowd that his deputies had been followed home, and his parents were tailed. He said someone flattened a tire on his wife’s car, and she had left town due to stress.

“When I wake up tomorrow, I want to have pleasant thoughts about you — that you did the right thing, that you packed your bags and you went home,” Ward said of the anti-government protesters.

The militants, led by the sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, have been holed up at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, about 30 miles from Burns, since Saturday.

“They are desecrating one of our sacred traditional cultural properties,” Charlotte Rodrique, chair of the Burns Paiute Tribal Council, said at an earlier meeting on Wednesday. “They are endangering our children and the safety of our community.”

The occupiers claim the federal land belongs to the mostly white population of eastern Oregon, but Harney County was largely Paiute territory prior to white settlement.

Ward asked people at Wednesday night’s meeting to raise their hands if they wanted the occupiers to peacefully leave. The vast majority did, with a rogue shout of “Let them stay!” Some attendees asked the sheriff to personally pass the message to the occupiers.

“I heard a rancher come in today and say, ‘We’ll send a hundred guys on horseback,'” said one man.

But the community seemed to have a complicated relationship with the Bundy brothers. Some shared the protesters’ concerns about federal land access, and the imprisonment of two local ranchers. And ranchers seeking federal grazing permits and leases see the government as blocking their efforts to make a living.

“I don’t agree with the way that this has all turned out,” said Bill Winn, who said his family had lived in the area since the 1800s. “I do appreciate this being put before America. … I’m glad those guys did it,” he added.

Leader of armed protesters in Oregon took out $530,000 federal loan

Ammon Bundy, a leader of the armed protesters who took over a federal building in Oregon, and his family are known for battling the federal government.

But Bundy told CNN on Tuesday that he’s not opposed to government and said that taking a six-figure loan from theSmall Business Administration doesn’t conflict with his political philosophy.

Bundy borrowed $530,000 in 2010 for his company, Valet Fleet Service LLC, according to public records on usaspending.gov. Valet Fleet Service is a truck maintenance company in Arizona.

“I am not anti-government,” he said when asked about the loan while standing outside the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, adding that he thinks “there is a role for government and that the federal government’s role is to protect the states from the outside world.”

“And the state’s role is to protect the counties from the federal government — and the county’s role is to protect the people from the state so the people can go about freely using their lands and resources and their rights. … So there’s a role, but all government’s role is to serve the people. Whenever those governments step out, then that’s when we step in.”

Bundy denied he was being hypocritical about the loan because it “was an effort in assisting the people in using their rights.”

The motivating factor here is greed, not race. The group, many of the same people who came out to support Cliven Bundy last year who owed more than $1 million in lease fees for grazing his cattle on our Federal Land want to farm or graze Federal Land for free. In other words they want to be able to use the land, while the rest of us who pay the upkeep, pay for the Fire Department to go out to put out fires they have started, an they hunt illegally – all in the cause of their “freedom”.

The Malheur is a nesting and migratory area for hundreds of bird species, including these whooping cranes.

Gunmen Seize Federal Building In Oregon

The men include at least two sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and have said they’ll stay for “years.”

A group of gunmen seized control of an empty federal building in remote Burns, Oregon, on Saturday, announced they planned to occupy the facility for “years” and called for “patriots” to join them — and bring more guns. The men now occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building include at least two sons of Cliven Bundy, the rancher whose legal battle with the government over grazing rights culminated in an armed standoff with federal authorities near Bunkerville, Nevada, in 2014.

“We’re planning on staying here for several years,” Ammon Bundy said in a videoposted to Facebook Saturday. “We’re calling people to come out here and stand…. We have a place for you to stay warm. We have food planned and prepared. We need you to bring your arms. And we need you to come to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.” His brother Ryan Bundy told The Oregonian’s Ian Kullgren the militiamen are “willing to kill and be killed if necessary,” Kullgren tweeted Saturday.

The Bundys and other militia members have gathered in Burns in recent weeks to protest the return to prison of Dwight Hammond Jr. and his son Steven, two local ranchers who were convicted in 2012 of arson, imprisoned, released and given new, harsher sentences last year. But there’s no evidence the Hammonds are involved in the occupation of the federal building, and they told The Oregonian through their attorneys on Sunday that they plan to return to prison on Monday as ordered. “Neither Ammon Bundy nor anyone within his group/organization speak for the Hammond Family,” W. Alan Schroeder, a lawyer for the family, wrote to Burns Sheriff David Ward, CBS News reported Sunday.

Nor does the local community support the militia’s actions. “The majority of Burns does not want him here,” Sarah Spurlock, a Burns resident who interviewed Ammon Bundy on Saturday, told The Huffington Post via Facebook message. “There are a handful that do, but they are few compared to those that don’t.” At a community meeting Friday night, Burns residents told militia members who had traveled there to support the Hammonds they worried confrontation with the government could lead to violence. “We are not coming into your town to shoot it up,” Brandon Curtiss, an Idaho militia leader, promised, according to The Oregonian’s Les Zaitz. “We won’t fire anything unless we’re fired upon.” Curtiss told The Oregonian Sunday he “knew nothing” about the occupation of the federal facility.

In recent statements, the Bundys have de-emphasized the Hammonds, instead focusing on their plan to restore eastern Oregon’s economy by forcing the federal government to hand over federal lands to local ranchers, miners and loggers.

The federal lands that the Bundys and their compatriots argue should be “returned” to the local, overwhelmingly white population were once part of a reservationestablished by President Ulysses S. Grant for the Northern Paiute, an American Indian tribe. The Northern Paiute still live on a now much-smaller reservation north of Burns.

This most recent incident is only the latest confrontation between the federal government and the militia movement, which gained popularity among conservative ideologues in the aftermath of the 1992 Ruby Ridge incident and the 1993 Waco siege, two of the most infamous and deadly standoffs involving federal agents in U.S. history. During the tense Ruby Ridge standoff in northern Idaho, three people died, including a deputy U.S. marshal, as authorities attempted to apprehend a white separatist for failing to appear in court for selling illegal sawed-off shotguns. In Waco, Texas, 76 people died during a 51-day siege after federal officials stormed a fortified religious compound led by David Koresh and his group of Branch Davidian Seventh Day Adventists in an attempt to apprehend Koresh for stockpiling weapons. Both incidents prompted congressional inquiries into use of force by federal officials.

Who’s occupying the building?

We don’t know much about who’s occupying the building. The Bundys initially claimed they had around 150 people there, but a reporter who managed to get close spotted about a dozen. Videos from the scene have depicted Ammon Bundy. Ryan Bundy has spoken to reporters about the occupation. Militia leader Blaine Cooper and Ryan Payne, an Iraq war vet, are both involved in the occupation, according to The Oregonian. Both men have said they were involved in the 2014 Bundy ranch standoff. Last year, the Missoula Independent published an extensive profile of Payne.

Jon Ritzheimer, another militia member, posted a video to YouTube calling people to come to Burns and “take a stand.”

“I am 100 percent willing to lay my life down to defend against tyranny in this country,” Ritzheimer said. “We need real men here… Americans who have the intestinal fortitude to come here and take a stand and say enough is enough…. To my family, just know that I stood for something. Don’t let it be in vain. I love you.”

How are local, state, and federal authorities responding?

The building the gunmen seized is closed for the holiday weekend. So far, law enforcement is staying away. One Oregon State Police car was spotted idling outside Burns, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting. An FBI spokeswoman told HuffPost the agency was aware of the situation. A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokesperson told CNN that federal officials, including the Bureau of Land Management, are monitoring the situation….More Here…

Christian American Patriots Militia leader: We now have authority to shoot Obama

An apparent threat made against President Barack Obama’s life posted on Facebook has caught the attention of the Secret Service.

Agents declined to comment on the post, which has been removed but was preserved in screen captures by Social News Daily, made Tuesday by Everest Wilhelmen, leader of the Christian American Patriots Militia.

“We now have authority to shoot Obama, i.e., to kill him,” Wilhelmsen posted on hisFacebook page. “His willful violations and alienation of our Constitution, constant disregard for our peaceful protests and corruption of all the three branches of government, (i.e., rogue and illegitimate government), reveal the dictator that he is. Obama and his co-conspirators disrespect our Constitution (constitutional rule of law) and abuse the American people.”

The post was made the same day as a gathering of right-wing cranks, conspiracy theorists and gun advocates met at a park across from the White House demanding that Obama voluntarily leave office.

Wilhelmsen does not refer specifically to theReclaim America Now rally, but he does circle the date as he attempts to constitutionally justify his apparent call for the president’s murder.

“The authority to kill Obama comes from the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution: He is levying war on the United States and aiding and comforting our foreign enemies – the 2nd Amendment gives us the right and duty (authority) to engage an enemy of the United States that does so with the design to reduce us under absolute Despotism. I would be very surprised, if Obama does not leave Washington DC today (Nov. 19th) … never to return, if he is not dead within the month,” Wilhelmsen posted.

Wilhelmsen is listed as the group administrator of the Christian American Patriots Militia’s Facebook page, which claims more than 1,400 members who operate as a “closed group” and cites a hodgepodge of Bible verses to justify armed rebellion against the U.S. government.

“God judges time morally and He will use whatever He sees fit to accomplish His ends,” the group says in its social media description. “So be prepared to wage war. And this is in fact why Obama has labelled Christians and other patriots as ‘terrorists,’ a lie to his army. Obama knows God may lead us to wage violent war in the defense of our Constitution.”

Wilhelmsen posts a variety of anti-Obama and anti-Muslim messages on his own Facebook page and Twitter account, including multiple links to a blog post that attempts to argue that military personnel are duty-bound by their oath to remove Obama from office as a criminal.

His social media accounts frequently compare to Obama to Hitler and warn against impending genocide, particularly against Christians and conservatives.

Two other apparent threats against Obama’s life drew the Secret Service’s attention in recent weeks.

A University of Connecticut student, 32-year-old Joshua Klimas, underwent psychiatric evaluation after agents said he admitted to sending threatening emails to the White House.

“If you do not resign by the end of the year I will kill you! You are a traitor and it is my duty under the United States Constitution to end your life for crimes against the American people,” one email read. “There will not be any more warnings only bullets flying in your direction from drones I built for the sole purpose of removing you from the office you stole from this country.”

An 81-year-old Wisconsin man, Elwyn Nels Fossedal, was ordered held last week by a magistrate after prosecutors said he told neighbors he would shoot and kill the president if he suddenly appeared in front of him at the post office.

Witnesses reported the incident, and Secret Service agents said Fossedal repeated the threat after they met with him to investigate.

If convicted of the threat, Fossedal could face up to five years in prison.

According to sworn testimony Thursday during federal court proceedings in Alaska, two close associates of former Governor Sarah Palin — Joe Miller, a staunch political ally of Palin’s whom she supported in his failed bid for the U.S. Senate; and Palin’s former director of boards and commissions Frank Bailey, more commonly known in Alaska as Palin’s “hatchet man” — were responsible for introducing FBI Informant William “Drop Zone” Fulton to Schaeffer Cox, the leader of the so-called Alaska Peacekeeper Militia.

Cox and two other Fairbanks-based militiamen have been charged with conspiring to kidnap and murder Alaska judges and law enforcement authorities. They have also been charged with violating various federal weapons laws for owning or attempting to purchase machine guns, silencers, hand grenades and other combat-type weapons.

It’s an only-in-Alaska story.

The surreptitious meeting between Fulton, Cox and Palin’s associates took place a scant six months before Palin was selected by John McCain to serve as his running mate on the GOP ticket. Cox, a supporter of Palin’s, was then a Republican candidate for the Alaska House of Representatives, District 7. He finished with 36 percent of the votes.

Cox’s trial, now in its third week, has revealed the bizarre cultural and political milieu in which Palin came to power in Alaska and which eventually catapulted her to a national stage.

The biggest danger from terrorism in this country is from Domestic terrorism.  In today’s political climate that in vast majority means right wing terrorism, wherein Militias and various fringe groups look to kill their fellow Americans.

The weird thing about this one… Is these guys should be old enough to know better.

Four North Georgia men arrested in alleged covert militia plot

Four North Georgia men accused of being members of a fringe militia group were arrested Tuesday by federal authorities for planning to make the deadly toxin ricin and obtain explosives, federal authorities said.

Authorities said that, beginning in March, the men held clandestine militia meetings and discussed using toxic agents and assassinations in an effort to undermine federal and state government and advance their interests.

The four men taken into federal custody are: Frederick Thomas, 73, of Cleveland, and Toccoa residents Dan Roberts, 67; Ray H. Adams, 65; and Samuel J. Crump, 68. They are charged with

“These defendants, who are alleged to be part of a fringe militia group, are charged with planning attacks against their own fellow citizens and government,” U.S. Attorney Sally Yates said. “To carry out their agenda, two of the defendants allegedly purchased purported explosives and a silencer, while the other two defendants took steps to attempt to produce a deadly biological toxin.”

According to federal authorities, Thomas, Roberts, Adams and others who attended the meetings discussed targeting various government officials, including employees of the IRS. The meetings were monitored and tape recorded by a confidential source for the FBI, authorities said.

Complaints unsealed Tuesday allege that Roberts knew a man who had manufactured the biological toxin, ricin, and had access to the castor beans used to make it.

During one of the group’s meetings in September, which was recorded by the confidential source, Crump said he would like to make 10 pounds of ricin and disperse it in various U.S. cities, including Atlanta, the complaints said. Crump said ricin could be blown from a car traveling on the interstates.
