‘He Lost His Mind,’ Trump Says After Bannon Reportedly Slammed Russian Meeting

Steve Bannon, President Trump’s former chief strategist and campaign CEO, once called a now-famous meeting among Donald Trump Jr., campaign chairman Paul Manafort, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and a group of Russians “treasonous,” according to accounts of an upcoming book.

Bannon is being quoted making the remarks in Fire and Fury, a book about the Trump White House by journalist Michael Wolff. After The Guardian cited an advance copy of the book (which is being released next week), news of Bannon’s comments quickly spread.

The meeting took place in June 2016, but it wasn’t publicly revealed until last summer. Discussing it with Wolff, Bannon reportedly said, “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s***, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

Wolff quotes Bannon as saying, “The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor — with no lawyers. They didn’t have any lawyers,” according to The Guardian.

The members of Trump’s inner circle were drawn to the meeting by the promise of damaging information about Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. They were joined at Trump Tower by Russian lawyer Natalia VeselnitskayaBritish-born businessman Rob Goldstone, Russian-American lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin, and Soviet-born American businessman Irakly “Ike” Kaveladze.

The Trump Tower meeting has been a focal point in reports about the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, who is looking into Russia’s attempts to influence last year’s U.S. election.

Discussing the president’s son and the investigation’s potential path, Bannon reportedly told Wolff, “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”

When Goldstone contacted Donald Trump Jr. about the potential for dirt on Clinton, Trump Jr. replied, “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

After news of the meeting became public, Trump Jr. said the Russians had not produced any “meaningful information.”

Rather than having a high-profile sit-down, Bannon said, according to The Guardian, the Trump group should have restricted it to “a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people.”

The Justice Department has produced evidence that Russian agents “began reaching out to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign as early as March 2016,” as NPR reported in October.

The figures from Trump’s campaign or administration who have been accused of federal crimes as a result of Mueller’s investigation range from Manafort (on money-laundering charges) to former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos (both of whom pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents).

British publicist who arranged Don Jr’s Trump Tower meeting with Russian Agents set to Squeal to Mueller

Another of the Chumph Family crime syndicate is in Mueller’s sights. Chumph Junior is under investigation for meeting with Russian “KGB” Agents to discuss their help in the election.

Publisher Rob Goldstone is set to testify before Mueller’s investigators.

Trump meeting with Emin Agalarov and Goldstone (left)

The Russian pop star identified as having arranged a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer is the son of an oligarch (Russian mob?) with ties to Vladimir Putin.

The British publicist who helped set up the fateful meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a group of Russians at Trump Tower in June 2016 is ready to meet with Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller’s office, according to several people familiar with the matter.

Rob Goldstone has been living in Bangkok, Thailand, but has been communicating with Mueller’s office through his lawyer, said a source close to Goldstone.

Goldstone’s New York lawyer, G. Robert Gage, declined to comment other than to say, “nothing is presently scheduled.”

However, sources close to Goldstone and familiar with the investigation say they expect he will travel to the United States at some point “in the near future,” as one put it.

Goldstone helped set up — and attended — the June 9, 2016, meeting at Trump Tower at which Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya says she presented information to Donald Trump Jr. and other key Trump aides. The meeting has emerged as a focus of Mueller’s investigation into whether the Trump team colluded with the Russian effort to meddle in the 2016 presidential election.

In an email that later became public, Goldstone wrote to Trump Jr. that “the Crown prosecutor of Russia … offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”

There is no office of crown prosecutor, but Goldstone appeared to be referring to the Russian prosecutor general.

He added that “this is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump — helped along by Aras and Emin,” a reference to his long-time clients, oligarch Aras Agalarov and his son, Emin, a Russian pop singer. Much of Goldstone’s publicity business involves music promotion. He also represented the Miss Universe pageant, at one time owned by President Trump.

In reply to Goldstone’s email, Trump Jr. wrote, “if it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

Trump Jr. hosted the Russians alongside Paul Manafort, then Trump’s campaign chairman, and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and adviser. Along with Veselnitskaya, the Russian delegation included Irakly “Ike” Kaveladze, who works for the Agalarov family in the U.S., and Rinat Akhmetshin, a Russian-American lobbyist engaged in trying to lift Obama administration sanctions on Russia and Russian entities.

Also in the room was Russian-American translator Anatoli Samochornov, who had done work for the State Department and had translated previously for Veselnitskaya.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the promised assistance from the Russian government was provided, and whether it was part of what a dossier compiled by a former British intelligence officer called “a well-developed conspiracy of cooperation” between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Veselnitskaya told NBC News she first received the supposedly incriminating information she brought to Trump Tower — describing alleged tax evasion and donations to Democrats — from Glenn Simpson, the Fusion GPS owner, who had been hired to conduct research in a New York federal court case.

A source with firsthand knowledge of the matter confirmed that the firm’s research had been provided to Veselnitskaya as part of the case, which involved alleging money-laundering by a Russian company called Prevezon.

Veselnitskaya said she turned Simpson’s research over to the Russian prosecutor.

A spokesman for Mueller’s office declined to comment.

The CHumph Botches Meeting on Race With Senator Tim Scott

Senator Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate tired to talk some sense about race into the Chumph…

Didn’t work.

Think Scott got a lesson in racism.

BTW brother…You gotta do something about them socks!

Trump botches meeting on race with black Republican senator

The White House got Tim Scott’s name wrong after the senator met the president. That describes a lot

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump met with South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, the only African-American Republican serving in the upper chamber, to have a candid discuss about race relations in America. What happened should not shock anyone.

Let’s start with what happened after the meeting, when the White House misidentified him in a photograph as “Tom Scott.” Later, during a press conference, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that Scott had not expressed any displeasure with the president’s reaction to Charlottesville and had merely talked about “what we can do to bring people together, not talk about divisions within the country.”

Sanders left out a few details.

According to Scott, that Trump “tried to explain what he was trying to convey” during his controversial remarks in the aftermath of the Charlottesville riots — why he said there were bad people “on both sides.” The senator claimed that he tried to explain to the president that it was technically true that “there was an antagonist on the other side,” the more important problem was “the affirmation of hate groups who over three centuries of this country’s history have made it their mission to create upheaval in minority communities as their reason for existence,” according to the New York Times.

Scott added, “So there’s no way to find an equilibrium when you have three centuries of history versus the situation that is occurring today.”

According to the senator, Trump seemed to understand his positions and ended their get-together by suggesting that they stay in touch.

In the aftermath of the Charlottesville riots, Scott wrote an editorial for USA Todayunequivocally blaming the white supremacists. He also refused to support Trump’s position on the matter, saying that he could not “defend the indefensible.”

Last year, Scott took to the Senate floor and discussed occasions in which he had been questioned by police because of his race. Before describing several occasions in which he had personally been racially profiled, he explained that “there’s a deep divide between the black community and law enforcement — a trust gap.”

Before 2016, though, Scott had a somewhat more complicated history when it comes to race relations. In 2015 he aroused controversy when he said defended the use of the phrase “All Lives Matter” by telling CNN that “if it causes offense that I say that ‘all lives matter’ — black lives, white lives, police officers, jurists, all of us, even politicians, all of our lives matter — if that is somehow offensive to someone, that’s their issue, not mine.”

While the Chumph Kisses Putin’s Ass – Russian Hacker Attack US Nuclear Facilities

Putin’s Bitch was all smiley today. He got to meet his master Putin.

Meanwhile those Russians who “weren’t hacking” were busy trying to take down our Nuclear Plants…

Russian hackers are alleged to be targeting nuclear power plants

U.S. intelligence officials say Russia, emboldened since the 2016 presidential election, is going after new targets

Russian hackers are the chief suspects in recent efforts to meddle with the computer networks that run various nuclear power plants and other energy facilities.

If Russia is indeed responsible, it suggests that they could attempt to forcibly shut down parts of America’s power grid like they are believed to have done to Ukraine in the past, according to a report by Bloomberg.

This would also be consistent with a recent CNN report, which cites American intelligence officials describing an increase in Russian intelligence gathering activities since the 2016 presidential election. As one senior intelligence official told the site, “Russians have maintained an aggressive collection posture in the U.S., and their success in election meddling has not deterred them.”

The hackers, regardless of nationality, are believed to be responsible for breaching the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation in Kentucky among a number of other facilities since May, according to the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The New York Times confirmed the joint report with security specialists who have had to cope with the hacking attempts.

Although the report carried an urgent amber warning, which is the second-highest rating for a threat, it did not state whether the motivation for the attacks was espionage or simply creating mayhem. They also did not discuss how many energy facilities were breached by the hackers or the extent of the damage they’ve done, if any.

The report’s conclusion, however, was that the hackers were trying to map out computer networks for information they could use in future cyberattacks.

CBC Refuses Second Meeting with Chumph

Not sure why they even bothered to send representatives to the first meeting – but it seems they have finally recovered from their usual comatose state.

What I would like to see is some disruption, delay, and delegitimization of the entire Republican House and the Chumph.

One of the ways that could start is with a walkout until Sessions is gone. A complete refusal to participate in a process which is inherently and purposefully racist.

Jeff Sessions Busted Again on Secret Meetings With Russian Spies

After testifying that he hadn’t met with the Russians to the Senate Confirmation Committee…Turns out Jeff lied.

After being caught the first time, and supposedly putting everything on the table…Turns out there was at least one more secret meeting he lied about.

That is perjury, which speaks directly to his ability to hold a position of trust as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the US.

Time to look at removing this lying asshole.

BUSTED: Jeff Sessions had third undisclosed meeting with Russian ambassador

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is now said to have had a third undisclosed meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

During his confirmation proceedings, Sessions testified under oath that he “did not have any communications with the Russians.”

Yet now CNN is reporting there was a third undisclosed meeting that occurred on April 27, 2016 at the famed Mayflower Hotel only blocks from the White House in Washington, DC.

Close Trump confidante and son-in-law Jared Kushner is also facing investigative scrutiny for his undisclosed contacts with Ambassador Kislyak, who is rumored to be the top Russian spy in America.

The FBI is also said to be investigating the Attorney General’s undisclosed meetings with Kislyak. From CNN

Congressional investigators are examining whether Attorney General Jeff Sessions had an additional private meeting with Russia’s ambassador during the presidential campaign, according to Republican and Democratic Hill sources and intelligence officials briefed on the investigation.

Investigators on the Hill are requesting additional information, including schedules from Sessions, a source with knowledge tells CNN. They are focusing on whether such a meeting took place April 27, 2016, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, where then-candidate Donald Trump was delivering his first major foreign policy address. Prior to the speech, then-Sen. Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak attended a small VIP reception with organizers, diplomats and others.

HBCUs and Trump

Interesting interview. Not sure where, other than Leli Baskerville, Roland dug his panel up from. The woman on the right hand side of the table, who isn’t identified is a world class Auntie Tommette, lying about what President Obama did for HBCUs.

The facts…

Under the Obama Administration, 1 million more African-American and Latino students have enrolled in college. What’s more, black and Hispanic students earned more than 270,000 more undergraduate degrees in 2013-2014 than in 2008-2009. This Administration remains focused on continuing to increase the number of students who successfully complete college. To that end, the Department has worked to make new opportunities available to HBCUs.

Federal funding to HBCUs has grown each year since 2009. Through the Higher Education Act, HBCUs received a $17 million funding increase this year—the largest increase for the federal Strengthening HBCUs program in six years. And President Obama’s FY 2017 budget seeks to maintain and strengthen these opportunities for HBCUs to build their capacity. The FY 2017 budget proposes $85 million in mandatory funding to HBCUs, an increase of $5 million from FY 2016, plus an additional $244.7 million in discretionary funds for Title III.

The Administration has also fought for and won a historic commitment to fully fund Pell Grants and expand student aid for millions of low-income students. Pell Grant funding for HBCU students increased significantly between 2007 and 2014, growing from $523 million to $824 million. This year, President Obama announced a plan to make sure that Pell Grants are fully funded, including inflationary adjustments, and used strategically by students to reduce time and cost for receiving a terminal degree. The President’s 2017 budget also proposes a $30 million HBCU and Minority Serving Institution Innovation for Completion Fund, to help students from low-income backgrounds overcome challenges and persist through graduation day.

The other facts –

grad-rates-2014-hbcu

The brutal truth is, at least the bottom half of these schools either need to be shut down or no longer receive federal support and funding. I would cut everything except the top 10 or 20. Close the doors on the rest, absorb them into their respective State Junior College System…Or install a granite marker where they used to be. Investing money in the top 20 schools would likely make a difference – especially in not throwing away money at the bottom 30. Spellman, Howard, Hampton, Morehouse, and Fisk have the capability to become competitive with the very best schools in America.

Time to cut bait or fish.

All Y’all Colored Folks Know Each Other in DC!

I grew up in the DC area. I certainly know of the various high level people from the News, run into Congressmen and Senators on the street, and have even met with some in business matters.

DC, like almost any Urban area has cliques. There is nothing some black folks love more than setting up, or being a part of an “exclusive” group, which – pretty much like the Emmy’s and Academy Awards…They get to pat themselves on the back telling each other how great they are.

I have never attended a CBC Cabaret, and generally, unless roped into it, avoid such throw downs. I do, and have attended major charity events, and political fundraisers for specific politicians…Life in the City.

Now, the way things work in this city, is the most powerful clique in the city surrounds the President and Congress. When the President wants to meet with someone in Congress, he tells his staff to make a call. The  old “My people will be in contact with your people”.Under most circumstances the underlings coordinate schedules, set up time and place, and mark calendars – with the unwritten understanding that said invited Congressmen and Senators will make room on heir schedules to resolve conflicts.

Asking a reporter from a news organization is out of line. Not only that, but it is an insult to the CBC, in that somehow they don’t belong in the group of other Congressmen and Senators at the President’s beck and call – and thus need to be treated as an outside organization. The racial implications of that are equally horrendous in that it goes back to the old “All y’all look alike” racist syndrome.

BLM and Wichita Police Hold a Cookout

This is a big difference from what we see on the racist Faux News, where ex-cops are paid to berate the BLM Movement, call them murders and terrorists…

Never mind that many of the ex-cops Faux News pays to appear are ex-Cops because of their own criminal activities. Drag in a few paid Lawn Jockeys, and you have the universe of Fox News racism.

The Wichita Police took what I would call and “adult” way to approach things. Why not invite the BLM protesters to a cookout, where Cops and the community could sit down and hold an honest conversation. For a lot of black folks, especially in Urban areas, this provides an opportunity to meet and get to know local Police on a personal level – instead of when they have you pulled over for something. For Police, it is an opportunity to meet the ordinary folks who make up the majority of people in the community.

Black Lives Matter protesters have friendly cookout with Wichita police

When a group of Kansas police officers spotted members of the Black Lives Matter movement protesting near a highway last week, they didn’t try to put a stop to it.

Instead, the Wichita officers suggested holding a cookout, where members of the community and cops could gather for food, dance and an open discussion. The Black Lives Matter protesters happily agreed.

Now the city is being praised for its response — with many people suggesting communities across the country should follow their example.

Conlee Borchard, whose fiancé is in the Wichita Police Academy, said protesters stood in line on Sunday and waited patiently to ask officials, including Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay, questions.

“They asked hard questions, such as, ‘What are you doing to make sure our officers are held accountable?’ ‘What do we do if we have a complaint against an officer?'” Borchard told CBS News.

When the Q&A ended, the dancing began, and Borchard captured an inspiring sight on camera. A video of an energetic officer doing the “Cha Cha Slide” with Wichita residents went viral with more than 14 million views on Facebook.

Some applauded the heartwarming video as a welcome alternative to the tensions escalating between communities and police across the U.S.

“Other states are rioting, and killing…Were eating BBQ and dancing with the police!” one Facebook user commented.

“So proud of our hometown for making a ‘slide’ in the right direction,” another replied.

Borchard said it was a productive event.Image result for BLM Wichita Police

“It felt like coming into the future,” she explained. “In such a short amount of time there was so much restoration. Everyone walked away with hope.”

In a Facebook Live video posted on Monday, Chief Ramsay thanked everyone for making the “First Steps Community Cookout” a success.

“I really want to thank those who came out and were a part of this; it can’t just be the police that make these changes,” Ramsay said in the video. “It takes two parties to make a healthy relationship.”

Diner in Blanc

Heard about this. Unfortunately was too busy to deal with the drill. A couple of my staff who are foodies did. Sounds like it was a blast!

D.C.’s Snobbery-Free ‘Diner en Blanc’ Showed Washington at Its Partying Best

White people are crazy.

Let me rephrase: People who dress entirely in white—from head to toe—and schlep white tablecloths, white chairs, and white plates and napkins to the middle of a city to eat cold food with thousands of strangers, also dressed entirely in white, and who pay for this form of social masochism, are crazy.

I reached this conclusion weeks before I donned a pair of white linen drawstring pants, a white Guayabera shirt, and a pair of white espadrilles (which look good on no man) to join 2,000 strangers for Diner en Blanc, the foodie flash-mob franchise that rolled into Washington on Saturday night.

I was a guest, but my fellow diners (“dinerers”?) had paid upwards of $100 per couple to join this culinary club.

The Washington event sold out weeks earlier. Weeks!

The attendees were told to meet in groups at pre-assigned locations around the city.

Many of them had taken the Metro from the hinterlands of the D.C. suburbs. They flocked like little white lemmings, hiking their hemlines up from the dirty street corners, and waited patiently until 6 p.m.

Only then were they informed of the soirée’s secret locale, and they set out en masse.

I’d been tipped off to the venue early.

I stood outside the Carnegie Library in downtown Washington, just across from the city’s convention center, and watched streams of crisply dressed revelers, looking very hungry, hauling folded tables and chairs, linens, and baskets towards the library’s handsome lawn.

Some carried their gear in Rubbermaid bins strapped to luggage carts. Plenty towed roll-aboard suitcases filled with cutlery and cold salads. One woman pushed her supplies in a wheelchair.

Again, I reminded myself, people had paid for this privilege. Why? Washington is lousy with public parks and open green spaces. Did these revelers require instruction to enjoy themselves? When did they become allergic to spontaneity?

The city has been transformed over the past two decades into an urban consumer playground that can accommodate both the very wealthy who can afford to live there and the multitudes that come to shop, to eat, and—apparently, as “Diner” proved—to commune with total strangers.

The evening’s attendees had religiously adhered to the Diner en Blanc International-enforced dress code, helpfully emailed to patrons a few days prior. “Wear White. Please no ivory, cream, off white, a dress with a black belt, light khaki pants, or any other color.”

I realized my espadrilles were ecru and became anxious at the thought of a “Diner” enforcer confronting me with an ultimatum: Either the espadrilles went or I did. I wasn’t sure which outcome I’d prefer.

“Dress Elegantly or Very Elegantly,” the email said. Dangerous advice. More than a few women wore wedding dresses. Mens’ white jackets flirted with Zoot suitterritory. I did spot one man in a cream dinner jacket. I guessed he’d made it past the color guards.

“Very Elegant” also meant guests could wear a “mask, gloves, wig, or fascinator.”

For inspiration, guests were encouraged to consider Marie Antoinette, and to feel free to imitate her, provided that their wigs were “original” and of “high-quality” and, perhaps it went without saying, but it was said, “white.”

Washington is rather late to this white social craze. Diner en Blanc began nearly 30 years ago in Paris when, the story goes, a group of friends met up for a picnic in the Bois de Boulogne, a large public park on the western edge of Paris, and wore white so they could find each other.

I put aside for the moment why friends would fail to identify each other without dressing like Mr. Roarke from Fantasy Island. Perhaps they weren’t very good friends.

In any event, the founders clearly tapped into some thwarted social longing.

Thousands of people had been waiting to join this white army. The concept became contagion, and ‘Diner’ has now spread to Paris, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Abidjan, Cape Town, Canberra, Auckland, Vilnius, Moscow, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and now Washington. ...Read the rest here…

Whose Freedom?

Officer Wesley Cheeks of the Fairfax County Police Department has a run in with a Tea Bagger at the recent Town Hall Meeting in Reston, Virginia hosted by Representative Jim Moran.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This one is one of the latest attempts by the right to characterize opposition to their efforts to disrupt Town Hall meetings as “Freedom of Speech”.

Now, to be honest, I know the Officer involved. I’ve met him several times in social situations. He’s been with the Fairfax Police 18 or 20 years, and has been an exemplary officer to my knowledge.

I’m not going to get into the legal basis of who is right or wrong here – but I am going to get into something else – Patriotism.

During the Vietnam protest era, one of the favorite bumper stickers of the right was “My Country, right or wrong”, a second was “America – Love it or leave it”.  Indeed, one of the most bitter and cutting criticisms of the actions of some of the War protesters is how they derided, and disrespected American institutions, members of the Armed Forces, and our government.

Starting with the Raygun ascendancy, Republicans turned that bitterness into political hay, making Vietnam Vets who were bitter about their mistreatment by the “left” into a functional arm of the Republican Party. The Republican Party would claim the Patriotism high ground for the next 20 years when George W. Bush’s attempts at jingoism, and plastic patriotism in to hide the fact he had lied the country into the Iraq Invasion became painfully apparent to even the most red, white, and blue soul.

Under the American core belief structure of Freedom, Fair Play, and honsesty – what the Bushits did wasn’t anything a Patriot could be proud of – perhaps leading to Michelle Obama’s much maligned comment about her pride being restored in the country.

The point being, patriotism has moved fully to the other side of the political coin. As such, some folks – particularly minority folks aren’t going to be too thrilled about seeing their President defamed…

Did I mention “Love it or leave it”?
