At Least 50 Dead to the NRA Altar

If you do a search of the Internet it really isn’t that hard to find parts to make an automatic weapon. Indeed, the only thing that prevents more people from owning them legally is a tangles and expensive net of Federal Regulations. Once again the guns everywhere for everyone crowd gets their desired result.

This mass murderer appeared, at least from the sound of the rounds to have had a modified AK-47 type weapon.

The victims this time were Country Music fans, a group that stereotypically would be considered pro-gun. Although any American should consider the slaughter of innocent people, doing nothing worse that partying and listening to some music – morally repugnant at any level.

Two things interesting about this – One, the Chumph is flying in tomorrow, something he didn’t do for Puerto Rico – because statistically the victims of this horrific act will be almost all white.

Second, the MSM is already “whitewashing” the killer. “He never did anything wrong.” “He never showed any indication of being troubled.” “He was your average guy” “His girlfriend and brother never suspected a thing.”

Yeah – “It  was a total and complete surprise”…If you ignore the fact that guys just like him commit mass murders with guns, every few months in this country.

And “Concealed carry”? You fucking Glockity-Glock is useless against a guy with a high powered machine gun better than 150 yards away. It is why all out soldiers carry rifles, instead of cap guns. Might as well hang a sign on your chest -“I’m too fucking stupid to shoot.”

How much you want to bet, Republican’ts in Congress don’t do a damn thing about gun laws?

And yeah, I am pro-gun…Just not pro-insanity.

 

Gunman Opens Fire on GOP Congressmen

This is breaking. No idea yet as to the what or why of this, only that one confirmed Congressman is shot (Steve Scalise), and others “are injured”.

Police claim to have a suspect in custody. No information as to motive at this point.

The Democrat-Republican Baseball game is a fun, family oriented annual event in Washington, DC – usually held at Nat’s Stadium. President Obama usually took time out to see the game.

Gunman fires on Alexandria park during GOP baseball practice; lawmaker Scalise among wounded

A gunman opened fire Wednesday morning on a baseball practice at a park in Alexandria involving Republican members of Congress, possibly injuring several including at least one lawmaker, Steve Scalise, the majority whip, according to police and a congressman.

Alexandria police would only confirm that a shooting had occurred and that one person was in custody.

Rep. Peter Kane (R-N.Y.), in an interview with The Washington Post, confirmed early details. King said Capitol Police confirmed the account to him.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told The Post that Capitol Police officers walked into the congressional gym around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and told members about the shooting and said Scalise had been shot.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer tweeted: “Both @POTUS & @VP are aware of the developing situation in Virginia. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected.”

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) Tweeted that “Shooter attacked a GOP baseball practice. Rifle. 50+ shots fired. 5 hit including Steve Scalise. I am not shot.”

The 7:30 a.m. practice in the park in the 400 block of East Monroe Street was the finally before Thursday night’s scheduled game between Republicans and Democrats at Nationals Park.

Brooks told CNN that he heard a loud “bam” behind third base.

“I see a rifle, and I see a little bit of a body and then I hear another bam and I realize there’s still an active shooter. At the same time I hear Steve Scalise over at 2nd base scream — he was shot,” he said.

Brooks said he ran to the first base side and hit behind a batting cage as gunfire continued. He estimated 50 to 100 shots were fired.

He said Scalise crawled out of the outfield leaving a trail of blood, and that he was given liquids and put pressure on a chest wound.

FBI says Austin man plotting mass shooting arrested on weapons charges

Federal officials say they might have foiled a mass shooting in Austin this month, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in U.S. Western District Court.

A confidential source told the FBI that Steven Thomas Boehle, 50, is a right-wing extremist who had planned the attack, according to the affidavit. The six-page filing does not give many specifics about the alleged plot, but does reveal that on April 12 Austin police seized three guns and about 1,100 rounds of ammunition from a North Austin residence where Boehle had been staying.

The document says the source told authorities Boehle “exhibits sovereign citizen extremism ideology.”

Boehle is charged with making a false statement in connection with the attempted acquisition of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He is banned from purchasing firearms because of a 1993 misdemeanor assault conviction in Connecticut. The victim in that incident was an intimate partner of Boehle’s.

Boehle on three occasions had attempted to buy a firearm from an Austin-area retailer, according to the affidavit, but was denied each time. Boehle responded “no” each time to a question asking if he had ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. His most recent attempt came in December 2016 at Central Texas Gun Works on Ben White Boulevard.

A search warrant based on a narcotics investigation was executed April 12 at 615 W. St. John’s Avenue, the affidavit says. Police found the guns and ammunition in a closet along with some of Boehle’s belongings. A witness with whom Boehle was living became “visibly upset” when police told her about the guns. There is no mention in the affidavit about police finding drugs or why they had been investigating the location for narcotics.

 

“Domestic Terror” Attack Leaves 20 Dead, 42 Injured At Florida Nightclub

A horrific attack this morning at an Orlando nightclub has led to approximately 20 dead, and 42 hospitalized. A lone gunman entered the club early this morning and opened fire on the people in the club before engaging local police in an extended gun battle. Police have announced no motive at this point, but have classified the attack as “Domestic Terror”.

Approximately 20 people are dead inside Pulse, a gay nightclub, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said Sunday morning, just hours after a shooter opened fire in the club. At least 42 people have been transported for medical treatment, he said.

Police have shot and killed the gunman, Mina told reporters.

“It’s appears he was organized and well-prepared,” the chief said, adding that the shooter had an assault-type weapon, a handgun and “some type of (other) device on him.” Law enforcement sources told CNN that the device, which was strapped to the suspect, was possibly explosive, but authorities don’t know if it was real or not.

A canine unit indicated there were explosives inside the suspect’s car as well, the sources said.

At least nine officers were involved in the shootout, Mina said. Several coroner vans were seen traveling toward the nightclub.

One officer suffered an eye injury when a bullet struck his Kevlar helmet, said Danny Banks, special agent in charge of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Orlando bureau. The helmet saved the officer’s life, Banks said.

 

Mass Shooting at San Bernardino Social Services Center – 20 Shot/12 Dead

There appear to be at lest 3 shooters, dressed in Military Style gear with semiautomatic weapons.

As many as 20 people have been shot near a California hospital.

Police are seeking three heavily armed men — who were wearing masks, military-style clothing and possibly body armor — at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.

Up to 12 people were killed in the shooting, and at least eight others were wounded. Emergency crews were called about 11:30 a.m. local time to the shooting scene in the 1300 block of South Waterman Avenue.

A bomb squad was sent to dismantle a possible explosive device, and a SWAT team is seeking the gunmen.

The shooting happened several blocks away from a Planned Parenthood clinic, although employees there said the clinic was not a target.

The Inland Regional Center serves the developmentally disabled.

A spokeswoman for the medical center said the shooting took place in a conference room that had been rented Wednesday to an outside group, but she was not sure what organization was in the room.

Police were reportedly conducting a training exercise nearby and were able to respond quickly.

The gunmen may have fled the scene in a black SUV, according to reports.

 

Another Gun Nut White Boy…Another Mass Shooting

White racist gun freaks like to quote numbers about “black on black” crime. It is a disingenuous argument for several reasons. In so called, black on black crime in terms of shooting, in vast majority occur within a limited geographic region of less than 10 miles form a major urban center. The suicide rate in almost  every part of the country is 3-8 times higher than the homicide rate. (see data from CDC, and Freakonomics here.)  In 2013 (the most recent year for which full data are available), 41,149 suicides were reported, of which over 70% were white males. That is a rate nearly four times higher than the country’s homicide rate, 7 times the black on black homicide rate, and 98 times the possibility of a white person being murdered by a black person. In 2010, the gun suicide rate was 6.3 per 100,000 people, compared with 3.6 per 100,000 for gun homicides. Any of my readers who are familiar with the science and engineering behind security, knows that the first thing you do in creating a security system is what is called a “Threat Analysis”. Ergo it is rather stupid to plan for a Tsunami if your house is in Kansas, but it would be real smart to plan for a tornado.

Making the “black on black” crime argument a shell game.

The second part of that is an analysis of what  is more likely to cause a danger or threat. Blank gangbangers quite simply rarely if ever shoot up groups of students on a suburban college campus. Recent studies reveal that most school shooters are White males, with 97 percent being male and 79 percent White. Over the last three decades, 90 percent of high school or elementary school shootings were the result of White, often upper-middle class, perpetrators.

So…If I were setting up security for a major University or suburban/rural college – or primary and secondary school, then my Threat Index is going to be off the charts for disaffected white boys with guns, and real low for black inner city drug dealers.

Indeed, I am going to raise red flags for guys who look just like the following…

The fact that almost nobody does, is an indication of just how deep in denial America is.

Northern Arizona University student opens fire during campus fight, kills 1, wounds 3

One Northern Arizona University student was killed and three more were wounded when a student fight ended with gunfire — rocking the nation again before an Oregon college had time to bury the victims of its own gun massacre.

Police took suspected gunman Steven Jones, an 18-year-old NAU freshman, into custody after he killed fellow student Colin Brough and wounded Nicholas Prato, Kyle Zientek and Nicholas Piring, police said.

Two separate groups of students were arguing in a parking lot next to Mountain View Hall when Jones pulled out a gun and started shooting, NAU Police Chief Greg Fowler said at a Friday morning press conference.

A glitch in the university’s emergency alert system meant only a limited number of students got the first message reporting the shooting, the school said in a statement. The entire campus got a later alert after Jones was in custody that said the campus was all clear.

Fowler said Arizona school protocol prohibits anyone from carrying a gun on campus, however, students are allowed keep weapons in locked compartments of their cars parked on campus.

The injured students’ conditions and their relationship to the gunman are unclear.

The Arizona shooting came just hours before President Obama is set to visit Roseburg, Ore., where nine people were slaughtered on the Umpqua Community College campus on Oct. 1.

Funerals for the Oregon victims started Thursday. More are planned for the weekend and next week.

Arizona students heard sirens echoing across campus about 1:30 a.m. Friday and learned about the shooting from Mountain View residents who reported shots fired on social media, NAU freshman Mackenzie Cutrone told the Daily News. Thanks to the alert glitch, she didn’t get the university’s messages about the attack until after the gunman was already in custody.

10 dead, 20 reportedly injured in shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon

At the moment, little is known about the circumstances surrounding a school shooting in Roseburg, Oregon. Authorities have confirmed that at least 10 people — and possibly as many as 15 — have been killed, including the gunman, with another 20 wounded at Umpqua Community College.

The first 911 calls reportedly were received at 10:38 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. David Jaques of the Roseburg Beacon told CNN that the shooting was confined to a single classroom, and that the shooter was male. Subsequent reports contradict Jaques’ report, however, saying that the shooter moved between multiple rooms before being “neutralized.” It’s unclear what “neutralized” means, although CNN’s Jake Tapper reported that the shooter is allegedly dead.

CNN is reporting that police told dispatchers that they had exchanged shots with a male on the south side of Snyder Hall. They obtained a transcript of the conversation between police and dispatchers via Douglas County officials.

A report from the Oregonian that the shooter posted a “warning” on social media earlier this morning. It is also possible that the shooter started this thread Wednesday night, but at the moment that can’t be confirmed — although CNN reports that “authorities believe it to authentic.”

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) said in a news conference Thursday afternoon that the suspect was a 20-year-old male who is now deceased.

According to CNN, 3,300 full-time and over 13,000 part-time students attend what is largely a vocational college. The average age of students is 38, meaning that this college caters to older, part-time students.

CNN is reporting that Douglas County Commissioner Chris Boice said that the shooter has been detained, although authorities are still saying that the scene has not yet been secured. It is, however, no longer an active shooting situation. The campus is still in lockdown, although at least two school buses containing students who have been searched have left the campus.
