-resident Donald Trump has invited controversial Philippines leader Rodrigo Duterte to the White House, the Guardian is reporting.

While no date has been set between the two leaders, a readout of Saturday’s call to Duterte indicated the two discussed “the concerns of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) regarding regional security, including the threat posed by North Korea.”

Duterte is a controversial figure, encouraging vigilantes to take the law into their own hands and kill drug dealers, and he was recently accused, along with other Philippine officials, of “mass murder and crimes against humanity.”

Saturday’s report states that Trump and Duterte discussed the war on drugs, saying, “They also discussed the fact that the Philippine government is fighting very hard to rid its country of drugs, a scourge that affects many countries throughout the world.”

FBI: South Carolina man bought gun for attack “in the spirit of Dylann Roof”

Federal agents arrested a man Wednesday who they say wanted to use a gun in an attack “in the spirit of Dylann Roof,” reports CBS affiliate WBTW.

Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell, 29, is charged with felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition, according to court documents.

Federal authorities say that on January 6 McDowell posted on Facebook Messenger that he was looking for a gun and met an undercover FBI employee about a week later at an unidentified hotel in Myrtle Beach.

According to a sworn FBI statement, agents began investigating McDowell, who allegedly connected with white supremacist groups while serving previous prison sentences, after he threatened a synagogue on Facebook.

McDowell reportedly wrote that fellow white supremacists weren’t active enough: “All they wanne [sic] do is stay loaded on drugs the Jews put here to destroy white man…”

McDowell allegedly told the agent he wanted to “conduct an attack on non-whites without getting caught.”

The document says McDowell posted statements online praising Roof, but did not appear to have formulated any specific attack plans. Roof was sentenced to death for killing nine black worshippers in a Charleston church.

In one conversation, McDowell allegedly told the agent he wanted to “do something on a f****** big scale and write on the f****** building or whatever, ‘In the spirit of Dylann Roof.’”

In another alleged conversation, McDowell allegedly said “I just be plotting it out, like, I mean you just run up there on them if they back there partying, and all, with a f****** AK and rip them sumbitches down, and throw, a damn, something at them.”

Federal authorities allege McDowell bought a .40 caliber Glock and hollow point ammunition from the undercover agent on Wednesday. Agents reportedly said he was also supposed to talk about his attack plans over lunch, but the documents don’t say whether that happened. They arrested him “soon after” at the Hampton Inn on Celebrity Circle in Myrtle Beach.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Feb. 21 in Florence.

Man Who Says He Was Orlando Shooter’s Lover Calls Attack Act Of ‘Revenge’

A man who said he had a sexual relationship with Orlando shooter Omar Mateen believes Mateen’s murderous rampage at the Pulse LGBT nightclub was prompted by struggles with his sexual identity.

The man, who went by the name “Miguel” to protect his identity, told Univision in an interview out Tuesday that Mateen harbored resentment towards Puerto Rican LGBT men over his sexual relationships with them.

Mateen fatally shot 49 people and wounded 53 others during “Latin night” at Pulse. Nearly half of those killed were of Puerto Rican descent.

Federal officials have labeled the attack both a hate crime and an act of terror, as Mateen pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terrorist group in a 911 call made during the shooting.

“Miguel,” who said he first met Mateen on gay dating app Grindr, told Univision that he thinks the attack was primarily an act of “revenge” rather than terrorism. He said he believed Mateen was upset by Puerto Rican men who had rejected him and outraged to learn that one Puerto Rican man he slept with was HIV positive.

“He hate gay Puerto Ricans for all the stuff he did to him,” he said. “I believe this crazy horrible thing he did was for revenge.”

He said his “friends with benefits” relationship with Mateen lasted two months and involved 15 to 20 meetings at an Orlando hotel.

A number of regular attendees at Pulse told the press that Mateen frequently stopped by the cluband that they recognized him from gay dating sites. Though Mateen was married to his second wife, he reportedly had dating profiles on Grindr, Jack’d and Adam4Adam.

 

Another Gun Nut White Boy…Another Mass Shooting

White racist gun freaks like to quote numbers about “black on black” crime. It is a disingenuous argument for several reasons. In so called, black on black crime in terms of shooting, in vast majority occur within a limited geographic region of less than 10 miles form a major urban center. The suicide rate in almost  every part of the country is 3-8 times higher than the homicide rate. (see data from CDC, and Freakonomics here.)  In 2013 (the most recent year for which full data are available), 41,149 suicides were reported, of which over 70% were white males. That is a rate nearly four times higher than the country’s homicide rate, 7 times the black on black homicide rate, and 98 times the possibility of a white person being murdered by a black person. In 2010, the gun suicide rate was 6.3 per 100,000 people, compared with 3.6 per 100,000 for gun homicides. Any of my readers who are familiar with the science and engineering behind security, knows that the first thing you do in creating a security system is what is called a “Threat Analysis”. Ergo it is rather stupid to plan for a Tsunami if your house is in Kansas, but it would be real smart to plan for a tornado.

Making the “black on black” crime argument a shell game.

The second part of that is an analysis of what  is more likely to cause a danger or threat. Blank gangbangers quite simply rarely if ever shoot up groups of students on a suburban college campus. Recent studies reveal that most school shooters are White males, with 97 percent being male and 79 percent White. Over the last three decades, 90 percent of high school or elementary school shootings were the result of White, often upper-middle class, perpetrators.

So…If I were setting up security for a major University or suburban/rural college – or primary and secondary school, then my Threat Index is going to be off the charts for disaffected white boys with guns, and real low for black inner city drug dealers.

Indeed, I am going to raise red flags for guys who look just like the following…

The fact that almost nobody does, is an indication of just how deep in denial America is.

Northern Arizona University student opens fire during campus fight, kills 1, wounds 3

One Northern Arizona University student was killed and three more were wounded when a student fight ended with gunfire — rocking the nation again before an Oregon college had time to bury the victims of its own gun massacre.

Police took suspected gunman Steven Jones, an 18-year-old NAU freshman, into custody after he killed fellow student Colin Brough and wounded Nicholas Prato, Kyle Zientek and Nicholas Piring, police said.

Two separate groups of students were arguing in a parking lot next to Mountain View Hall when Jones pulled out a gun and started shooting, NAU Police Chief Greg Fowler said at a Friday morning press conference.

A glitch in the university’s emergency alert system meant only a limited number of students got the first message reporting the shooting, the school said in a statement. The entire campus got a later alert after Jones was in custody that said the campus was all clear.

Fowler said Arizona school protocol prohibits anyone from carrying a gun on campus, however, students are allowed keep weapons in locked compartments of their cars parked on campus.

The injured students’ conditions and their relationship to the gunman are unclear.

The Arizona shooting came just hours before President Obama is set to visit Roseburg, Ore., where nine people were slaughtered on the Umpqua Community College campus on Oct. 1.

Funerals for the Oregon victims started Thursday. More are planned for the weekend and next week.

Arizona students heard sirens echoing across campus about 1:30 a.m. Friday and learned about the shooting from Mountain View residents who reported shots fired on social media, NAU freshman Mackenzie Cutrone told the Daily News. Thanks to the alert glitch, she didn’t get the university’s messages about the attack until after the gunman was already in custody.

George Zimmerman, the killer of Trayvon Martin who was last seen hawking paintings of the Confederate battle flag that praised the Second Amendment, took to Twitter in the wake of yesterday’s shootings of Alison Parker and Adam Ward to condemn the “Black [piece of shit]” who murdered them and the “Ignorant Baboon” in the White House who mentioned gun control in his comments about their murders.

Presumably because he knows a thing or two about killing people in cold blood, Zimmerman expounded at Twitter-length on the murders of Parker and Ward, writing first that:

“Pansy” is, of course, a reference to the fact that the shooter, Vester Flanagan II, was a homosexual, which is relevant here because Zimmerman inexplicably chose to make it so. Flanagan’s motivations, at least as they were communicated in his 23-page-long manifesto, were based on a combination of a personal grudge against Ward and his feelings about the massacre in Charleston, South Carolina earlier this year. But Zimmerman felt it necessary to denigrate his sexuality anyway, as well as complain about what to him was the lack of timely manner in which President Barack Obama addressed the murders:

Serial Killer Stalking in Detroit, Leesburg, Va., and Toledo

A serial stabber, apparently attacking black men has stabbed 20 people, 5 of whom have died, since May.

Police in Virginia, Michigan suspect link in stabbing attacks

Police in Leesburg, Virginia, and Genesee County, Michigan, suspect three recent attacks in Leesburg are linked to the stabbing deaths of five people and injuries to 10 others in the Flint area.

Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton confirmed in a news conference Monday that Michigan authorities have been in contact with police in Virginia, saying “there are some similarities” between the assaults in both states.

Leyton said the Virginia victims’ description of the suspect as well as their description of the suspect’s vehicle led authorities to make the possible connection.

Elsewhere, police in Toledo, Ohio, said Monday that a stabbing there fits the pattern of the Michigan attacks and could be linked to the same suspect as well.

The suspect is described by Michigan authorities as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s. All of the Michigan victims but one are black, leading authorities to consider a possible racial motive. Two of the three Virginia attacks involved black victims as well, Leyton said.

Leesburg police told CNN they have established a $5,000 reward for anyone providing information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

“We have no information at this point to say he’s either still here or he has fled,” Leesburg Police Chief Joe Price told a news conference. “We are continuing our operations as if he is still here.”

Price called the suspect “very desperate and very dangerous.”

The FBI is assisting in the investigation, Leesburg and Genesee County officials said.

Leyton said the timing of the attacks in Virginia “is such that it could be the same individual.”

The Michigan attacks began May 24. The most recent was August 2.

Previously, only 13 stabbings were believed related in the Flint area.

“We now believe there are 15 stabbings potentially attributed to the same suspect,” Leyton announced Monday.

The three attacks in Leesburg occurred August 3, 5 and 6.

The stabbing in Ohio occurred August 7, according to Sgt. Bill Wauford of the Toledo Police Department.

Officials in Michigan say the attacker is believed to be driving a Chevy Blazer or GMC Jimmy, model years 1995-2005, with a two-tone green top over a beige or gold bottom. Virginia authorities provided a similar description: an older model 1995-2000 Chevy S-10 Blazer with a dark green upper and a lighter tan or beige color on the lower panels.

The suspect is described as a stocky, unshaven white man usually wearing a baseball cap.
