Harry Reid – Yellowback Donkey Award of the Year

Once again the Democrats fold and run…

Assault weapons ban dropped from gun bill

Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid on Tuesday declared politically dead the effort to ban military-style assault weapons, a setback for President Obama and gun-control advocates who are pushing the Senate to move quickly on bills to limit gun violence.

Reid (D-Nev.) is preparing to move ahead with debate on a series of gun-control proposals when the Senate returns from a two-week Easter recess in early April. Although he has vowed to hold votes on measures introduced after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn., in December, Reid told reporters Tuesday that the proposed assault-weapons ban isn’t holding up against Senate rules that require at least 60 votes to end debate and move to final passage.

The proposed ban, “using the most optimistic numbers, has less than 40 votes. That’s not 60,” Reid said.

Still up for consideration are three other bills approved last week by the Senate Judiciary Committee: bipartisan legislation to make gun trafficking a federal crime, a bipartisan measure to expand a Justice Department grant program that provides funding for school security, and a Democratic proposal to expand the nation’s gun background check program.

Step right on up, Harry – and get your “Yellowback Donkey Award” for legislative cowardice.

Yet Another Policeman Killed By Gunfire

Just last week 11 Policemen were shot, and several were killed in shootouts with criminals, or in the case of Detroit, an attack.

Looks like things are not getting better, with this report of a Florida Corrections Officer shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a murderer.

Police: Fla. officer, murder suspect die in shootout

A Florida corrections officer and a man wanted for killing his parents were killed in a gunbattle on Wednesday, authorities said.

Jackson County Sheriff’s officials said a homeowner confronted Wade Andrew Williams in the woods Wednesday morning. Williams, 35, tried to shoot the homeowner, but missed. Williams fled, setting off a massive manhunt that ended in the shootout.

Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger says the corrections officer killed was from Holmes County. Local media reported that he worked on the Holmes Correctional Institution canine team. His name was not immediately released.

It was unclear how Williams was killed. Police earlier had reported that he was arrested, the Jackson County Floridan reported.

Williams’ parents, Bruce and Sharon Williams, were found dead in their two-story home in Cottondale last Wednesday.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Williams was killed “escaping”…

Texas Capital Goes Wild West With Guns

Once upon a time there was an Arms Race between the United States and the old Soviet Union…

Now, in certain parts of this country there is an arms race – just to be well enough armed to be safe to see your congressman or, for that matter Jesus in a Church.

Gun permit allows quick access to Texas Capitol

Everyone from lobbyists to lawyers and journalists is rushing to get permits to carry guns inside the Texas Capitol, where legislators already often tote pistols in boots and purses or stow them away inside their desks.

A unique loophole in a new security procedure means a gun permit is like a special-access pass into the domed building, allowing people who are certified to carry a gun to bypass lines at the metal detectors that were set up after a shooting incident earlier this year.

“Nobody wants to be the one standing in line behind three hundred kids wearing the same colored T-shirt,” said University of Texas political scientist Jim Henson. “If you’re trying to get in and out really quick and there’s going to be choke points, well, people don’t want to have to deal with that.”

There’s now a frenzy for folks to get trained and licensed to carry a firearm, especially before the legislative session begins in January. It’s not required that people have a gun to enter the Capitol through the express lane. Merely holding a valid permit, and presenting it at the entrance, will get them expedited entry.

“Everybody is doing it or is planning to do it,” said lobbyist Bill Miller, who has taken the required training and is waiting for his license to arrive in the mail. Read the rest of this entry »

"Machco" Gun Nut Needs Locked and Loaded Colt Automatic to Face Down 9 Year Old Holding a Sign

As a gun owner – this is an embarrassment. Grown man needs Colt 45 to face down a bunch of elementary school kids carrying signs.

Which is about what this particular “argument” is all about. This is about a bunch of cowards needing a penis substitute in the form of a gun to crawl out of their holes every morning to face the world on even terms. These are the sort of febrile minded right wingers who need 4 tabs of Viagra so they can find their “manhood” to take a piss.

Those of you who frequent my site, certainly know that I am certainly not anti-Gun…

But I am anti-stupidity.

If you need a gun to go to Church, a PTA meeting, a High School Basketball game, or to get a cup of coffee – you don’t need a gun…

You need to be in a freakin’ psych ward.

Starbucks sticks to its guns

Starbucks is asking nicely: Could we please, please stop talking about guns?

The Seattle-based coffee giant was thrust in the middle of a gun-control debate it never wanted to have when it refused a request from gun-control groups to ban guns in its stores this winter.

The company gave short, curt statements as the issue gained traction over the past several weeks. On Wednesday, as gun-control advocates prepared a Seattle news conference in view of the original Starbucks store, the company spoke loud and clear: We’ve made our decision. Can we please move on? Exercising Freedom? Hardly. Arrest the Gun Toters!

Here is a video of the moron who brought an assault rifle to a Town Hall Meeting attended by President Obama. This was a publicity stunt, coordinated with local police.

What is being missed here, is several Laws which have to do with the President. The first is – wherever the President is, is Federal Land temporarily during his presence. This is done such that the Federal Protective Services and the Secret Service have jurisdiction, and the authority to operate in the State. It also gives them precedence over State authorities in a protective zone around the President.

As such, the applicable law here is Federal… Not State.

The Secret Service is perfectly within the Law to arrest and lock up the bozos, and try them for violations of Federal Law.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The second group of laws allows the Secret Service to establish “Free Speech Zones” around the President. This was done extensively during the Bushit Administration to hide and suppress protesters. Now, there is a lot of argument about the Constitutionality of such, especially if it is utilized as the Bushit Administration did to suppress political opponents rights to Free Speech. And I agree, the sort of suppression of Free Speech done during the Bushit Administration more closely resembled a Fascist or Communist dictatorial regime than American ideals.

BUT… A valid argument can also be made that when a person brings a gun to a Public Meeting, that such is an actual threat against the Free Speech of people who disagree with them. A cornerstone of Law Enforcement Authority in this country is the implied threat of an Officer carrying a weapon. As such, a protester carrying a loaded gun to a Town Hall style meeting of opposing viewpoints is inherently doing so to suppress the Free Speech Rights of those speaking out against that person’s position.

As such, serving the Constitutional guarantee of Free Speech would be either arresting and charging these bozos illegally carrying guns under Federal Law, or locking them away in “Free Speech Zones” out of possible range of physically threatening or harming other protesters.

Unarmed protesters should be allowed to yell at each other to their heart’s content, and should not be subject to cloister or suppression by placing them in isolated Free Speech Zones as the Bushit Administration did.
