NJ Cops Punch and Kick Innocent Burning Man Set Afire By Car Accident

An innocent man, who was forced off the road into a car accident. NJ Police approach, do nothing to put the fire out as the man desperately rolls on the ground trying to put his burning clothes out. Then begin to kick and punch the victim. Meanwhile, the (drunk?) man who caused the accident is a mile away being apprehended after being shot at by NJ Police.

Shocking video shows New Jersey cops kicking burning victim of fiery car crash

In a new video of a blazing car accident that left a New York man seriously injured Sunday night, police officers are seen striking and pulling the man — who bystanders claim was a victim in the two-car crash — into the street. Several blocks later on Tonnelle Avenue, the fleeing driver crashed into a utility pole, sparking a fire injuring another driver in a different car.

The cellphone video, acquired by Univision and distributed to The Jersey Journal, shows the 28-year-old man exit a burning car with a portion his body on fire. The video shows him rolling around on the ground in an attempt to extinguish the flames. During this time, more than six officers, some with their guns out, circled the man.

While the police were in pursuit of the car, the driver they were chasing had been part of two separate car accidents. During the initial incident, police fired shots at the driver as he tried to position himself between two lanes of traffic. The driver continued to accelerate, the Hudson County Prosecutors Office told NJ.com.

One officer is seen in the video, kicking the man in the head and neck. Other officers at the scene appear to be stomping on parts of his body.

The man who caused the car crashes, 48-year-old Leo Pinkston, has been charged with aggravated assault and fleeing the accident. Police let off multiple shots at Pinkston, who was a mile away before the crash.

In the video, the first officer goes up and kicks the man, knocking him down. The police officers begin to drag the man off the sidewalk, away from the fire and into the middle of the road.

The victim was hospitalized with severe burns.

City officials said Wednesday that they have major concerns regarding how police conducted themselves during the pursuit in the Greenville section of New Jersey that ended with an innocent man fighting for his life.

Raymond Worrall, Director of Communications for the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office spoke to NJ.com to give an official statement on the matter.

“Our investigators have reviewed the video and we believe with certainty that this man is the bystander from West New York who suffered burns, not Leo Pinkston, the individual pursued by police,” he said. “As I previously said, we will utilize all resources available to the Prosecutor’s Office for a full and thorough investigation as we seek to bring this matter to a rightful conclusion.”

In a statement, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said, “Our investigators have reviewed the video and we believe with certainty that this man is the bystander from West New York who suffered burns, not Leo Pinkston, the individual pursued by police.”

A statement was also issued to NJ.com by a person close to the victim, though the individual asked to remain anonymous. The friend stated that the 28-year-old was driving home from work when he tried to avoid crashing with Pinkston’s fast-moving car.

“[He’s] fighting for his life,” said the friend. “[He] has multiple broken bones and second- and third-degree burns.”

Angela Rye Cuts Loose on Omarosa

The video sound is bad, but you may be able to turn the sound up enough to hear it – There is a better version on Twitter @AngelaRye.com

Angela Rye slams Omarosa to her face in scalding takedown of ‘president’s apprentice’

Angela Rye brought down the house with her fiery denunciation of Omarosa Manigault and her boss, President Donald Trump.

The CNN political commentator and former executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus spoke after the White House advisor Thursday at the National Action Network convention, reported Politico.

Manigault touted her advocacy work with the Trump administration on behalf of historically black colleges and universities, and the audience groaned when she vowed to fight on their behalf from the White House.

But Rye drew a rousing response when she scolded the Trump adviser and former “Apprentice” contestant.

“I’m going to bring the fire right now,” Rye said. “Moments ago, we were joined by your president’s apprentice. The truth is, when you tell somebody you’re going to fight for them, I’m going to tell you how not to fight for them.”

“You don’t fight for them by putting forth a tax reform plan that cuts corporate tax rates but ignores the poor,” she continued. “You don’t fight for them by cutting taxes for the rich, and ensuring that burden is going to be on the backs of the poor and ordinary black and brown people.”

The audience roared as Rye slammed the president and Manigault — including the racist “birther” conspiracy theory that brought Trump into national politics.

“How you don’t fight for [your community] is by trivializing our first black president, Barack Obama, by questioning his citizenship, by questioning his validity,” Rye said. “How you don’t fight for us is by pissing on me and telling me it’s rain.”

“Resist, y’all,” Rye said, as she walked away from the microphone.

WSJ Reports Faux News to Terminate O’Reilly

The veritable Bill Cosby of the talking head world is about to lose his ride.

WSJ: Fox News Prepping to Cut Ties With O’Reilly

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal Tuesday night, Fox News is preparing to cut ties with  Bill O’Reilly. The news came on the heels of a number of reports suggesting that O’Reilly’s days are numbered at the cable channel. According to an earlier report from CNN, representatives for Fox and O’Reilly have started conversations about an exit for the embattled host, who has been on vacation. Sources in O’Reilly’s camp denied that this was the case, according to CNN. However, the network’s parent company, 21st Century Fox will hold a board meeting Thursday in which O’Reilly is expected to be discussed. The Murdoch family, who control 21st Century Fox, is not commenting on the matter. The recent O’Reilly problems  stem from a New York Times report that detailed undisclosed settlement payments that O’Reilly, Fox News, and 21st Century Fox paid to women who accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment and verbal abuse.

The straw which appears to have broken this despicable camel’s back…

New Accuser Says Bill O’Reilly Called Her ‘Hot Chocolate,’ Made ‘Animal Noises’

Lisa Bloom, a high-profile California feminist attorney, says she is now representing yet another woman who has phoned in a complaint of sexual and racial harassment against Bill O’Reilly to the Fox News hotline. Bloom says the new accuser is not after money. The woman, an African American who worked as a clerical worker in 2008 at Fox News, claims Bill O’Reilly engaged in a pattern of harassment that lasted for months including making animal noises at her, staring at her cleavage and calling her “hot chocolate.”

“Although she is very scared and wished to remain anonymous, she felt like she had to add her story and speak out,” Bloom said, adding that three people have backed up the woman’s story.

Bloom is also representing Wendy Walsh, who was a frequent Fox News guest. She claims that O’Reilly snowballed her chances of becoming a paid contributor when she refused to go to a hotel room with him after dinner. Bloom says Walsh raised the allegation for the first time in response to the NY Times reporter, and only first spoke publicly and notified the network via their hotline this April.

News first broke of the big O’Reilly scandal in The New York Times (which, by the way, we had an inkling was coming when LawNewz first published allegations from former anchor Juliet Huddy back in January). The newspaper confirmed that Fox News and O’Reilly had settled five separate claims of sexual harassment against the rating mega-star. Those claims do not include Walsh’s new allegations nor the anonymous woman.

A spokesperson for 21st Century Fox has declined to comment on the latest woman to come forward. However, a recent report says that both Murdoch sons have turned against Bill O’Reilly, and might even want him out of the network.

“It is outrageous that an allegation from an anonymous person about something that purportedly happened a decade ago is being treated as fact, especially when there is an obviously orchestrated campaign by activists and lawyers to destroy Mr. O’Reilly and enrich themselves through publicity driven donations,” Marc E. Kasowitz, an attorney for Bill O’Reilly told CNN.

Anatomy of a Disaster

This is the BIG problem plaguing our subway system in DC. This one does not appear to be a failing power connector. If you look closely towards the bottom left there appears to be a bit of trash, possibly tin foil caught on the insulator holding the 3rd Rail, allowing it to arc to ground and the travelling rail. 700 Volts at 6,000 Amps makes a hell of a boom when it is shorted!

Massive Fire Prompts Evacuation of Entire City in Canada

A huge wildfire in Alberta, Canada has forced the evacuation of 80,000 residents.

Back in 2005, I lost a home to fire….A total loss. It was devastating to myself and the family. So I can really sympathize with the poor folks in Fort McMurray, even though I’ve never been there, or to that part of Canada. Sad…

The fire apparently has reached some homes and businesses. Her a Super 8 Motel and a Gas Station are destroyed…

US Bans Hoverboard Imports – Hoverboards Banned

And not because of them catching fire!

The U.S. Just Banned Hoverboard Imports

And it has nothing to do with their fiery explosions.

The International Trade Commission announced Wednesday that the United States is banning imports of so-called hoverboards.

But while some brands of the auto-balancing scooters are known to spontaneously combust, the U.S.’s decision had nothing to do with safety and everything to do with a request from Segway, the hoverboard’s nerdy uncle.

Hoverboards are often described in media reports as Segways without handlebars, or a cooler Segway. But it turns out the new scooters have more in common with their Paul Blart-endorsed predecessor than meets the eye.

Segway filed a complaint with the ITC in 2014, claiming that hoverboards, the vast majority of which are manufactured in China, infringed on some of their patents and copyrights. The particular patents they listed mostly have to do with technologies that allow Segways to self-balance and read user inputs.

“In recent years, there has been an influx of low quality two-wheel personal transporters built on the intellectual property developed by DEKA and Segway,” the company, which licenses the technology from research firm DEKA, said at the time. “If this influx is allowed to continue, this iconic American product and the U.S. jobs dependent on it will be threatened.”

While Segway is based in New Hampshire and continues to manufacture its products there, it was bought last April by Ninebot, a Chinese company that Segway actually listed as a respondent in its 2014 complaint.

The ITC’s ruling goes on to name several brands that are no longer allowed to be imported into the country, including UPTECH, U.P. Technology, U.P. Robotics, FreeGo China, Ecoboomer and Roboscooters.

Segway said it would work with both U.S. customs and the ITC to help implement the ban, although demand for these products is likely at a new low. Just last month, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced voluntary safety standards for all manufacturers, importers and retailers of self-balancing scooters due to their pesky tendency to catch on fire. Online retailer Amazon even agreed to refund all hoverboard purchases.

All of which means there might be a gaping new hole in the self-balancing scooter market. One that Segway could be poised to fill if it would only get cracking on asmaller, cooler-looking model.

The last isn’t going to happen. Segway will continue to sell vastly overpriced product now that there is no competition.

Hoverboard Fire…Again

BTx3 suggested crossing those Hoverboard things off the Christmas list a while back…If you got one of these, you may want to consider buying a loooong extension cord…To charge it outdoors.

Hoverboard fire destroys $1 million home

The Nashville Fire Department says two fires in the last three months were caused by hoverboards.

One of the fires destroyed a $1 million home early last month. According to a statement from the Fire Department, two teens living in the home hid upstairs after hearing noises from downstairs. The noise wasn’t a burglar but their FITURBO F1 hoverboard exploding into flames. A 16-year-old girl had to jump out the second-floor window into her father’s arms due to smoke and a 14-year-old boy was helped down by the dad with the use of a ladder. Both teens suffered minor injuries and the 4,000 square foot home was destroyed.

An investigation found friends of this same family also had an issue when a hoverboard purchased in the same batch caught fire after the battery compartment caught fire. Only the hoverboard was damaged during that fire.

Tennessee Commerce & Insurance Deputy Commissioner Gary West warned “consumers about so-called ‘hoverboard’ devices becoming potential fire hazards to Tennessee consumers.”

Not Just Crazy Tea Baggers — Man Sets Himself On Fire on Mall – Woman Shot After Crashing Car

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any crazier in DC.  First we get the government shut down by right wing terrorist whackjobs, masquerading as American legislators…

Then a woman shot to death after attempting to crash her car into the White House, and later the Capitol Building

Federal agents trying to stop the black Infiniti speeding between the White House and the U.S. Capitol fired seven shots at an unarmed driver with a toddler in the car as it rushed away from them, an uncommon tactic that occurred during a highly unusual chase.

A total of at least 17 shots were fired at two locations Thursday afternoon by two law enforcement agencies — the U.S. Capitol Police and the U.S. Secret Service. The final shots, near the Hart Senate Office Building, killed 34-year-old Miriam Carey of Connecticut, who police said had tried to ram through a security barrier at the White House, knocked over a uniformed Secret Service agent, hit cruisers and breached the outer security perimeter of the Capitol grounds.

And then this… A guy (with help) setting himself on fire on the National Mall.

Joggers and passerby try and extinguish flames with their shirts…

This one is somewhat reminiscent of Buddhist Monks during the Vietnam War, setting themselves afire to protest the War. To this point there doesn’t appear to be any political cause, nor have police found a motive. Unfortunately neither of the deceased appear to be from the band of terrorists holding Congress hostage. It seems that sometime after Raygun’s guns for drugs deal, treason became an un-prosecutable crime in this town for anyone above the level of first lieutenant….

Were it not so, the tarred and feathered remains of a certain Senator from Texas and his crew would be decorating the lampposts along Constitution Avenue about now.

Man sets himself on fire at National Mall, one witness says his accomplice filmed the entire ordeal: report

A man was in critical condition Friday night after he poured gasoline on his body and lit himself on fire on the National Mall.

Flames and smoke from the self-immolating man near 7th Street and Jefferson Drive, SW, were visible from the Capitol, where some staffers watched the scene from west facing windows, just a day after a car chase that ended with the shooting death of a woman just outside the Hart Senate Office Building.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday in between the Air and Space Museum and the National Gallery. Passing joggers rushed to the man’s aid, several ripping off their shirts to help beat out the flames that burned 80% of his body, ABC reports.

“I’m not aware of any signage or any articulation of any causes,” said Lt. Pamela Smith of the U.S. Park Police, which has teamed up with the D.C. police department.

Tommy Hess, a tourist visiting his brother, said he was on the Mall, “milling around, because everything is closed due to the shutdown.”

“I never expected to see anything like that,” Hess said. “It’s crazy.”

Katy Scheflen, a furloughed civil rights attorney in the Justice Department, said she stopped because she saw “a guy with a tripod set up.”

Scheflen said another man, who she thought the tripod with a camera was filming, then took a red can of gasoline, poured it over his head.

“At that point we didn’t know what was going, maybe it was some sort of stage protest,” Scheflen said. “And then he set himself on fire and went up in flames,” she said. “Whoosh.”

The man, who has yet to be identified, died later of his injuries.

Mayor Cory Booker… Hero!

New reports this morning that Mayor Cory Booker of Newark ran into a burning house to rescue a woman trapped in a bedroom.

Kudos Mr. Mayor!

Newark mayor rescues neighbor from burning house, is treated at hospital for smoke inhalation

The mayor of New Jersey’s largest city said Friday he thought he might die when he dashed through a burning, smoky kitchen to find and rescue a neighbor from her second-floor bedroom.

“I felt fear. I really didn’t think we were going to get out of there,” Mayor Cory Booker, his burned right hand still bandaged, told a news conference in front of the boarded-up home.

The 42-year-old mayor said it was very difficult to breathe as he looked for the woman, Zina Hodge, 47, whose mother had screamed she was still trapped inside the burning house.

As he got to the bedroom, Booker said he could hear, “I’m here, I’m here, help I’m here.”

The mayor, who was coughing heavily after the rescue, was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation and second-degree burns after the rescue late Thursday night.

Booker downplayed his actions, saying he just did what any neighbor would do, “which is jump into action to help a friend.”

“I didn’t feel bravery, I felt terror,” he said. “It was a moment I felt very religious, let me put it that way.”

Hodge remains in stable condition at a hospital, suffering from second-degree burns.

“I think he’s a super mayor — and should become president,” said her mother, Jacqualine Williams.

Fire officials said she and the mayor were apparently burned as embers fell from the ceiling, with the woman slung over the mayor’s shoulder. The officials said the fire likely started in the kitchen.

Two members of the mayor’s security detail had already taken several members of the family from the home when the mayor arrived and heard the mother screaming that her daughter was still inside.

His security detail tried to drag him away, but Booker told them that the woman was going to die, Detective Alex Rodriguez said.

“Without thinking twice, he ran into the flames and rescued this young lady,” Rodriguez said in an interview earlier in the day with “CBS This Morning.”

Booker, an up-and-coming Democratic politician who has been mentioned as a possible future candidate for statewide office, said Rodriquez also helped him take Hodge down the stairwell. Once they were outside, “we both just collapsed,” he said.

“I had my proverbial come-to-Jesus moment in my life,” he said.

The mayor said he did not feel heroic. “It all happened very, very quickly,” he said.

He planned to go take a nap after the news conference.

Booker, who is 6-foot-3, was a tight end for the varsity football team at Stanford University, where he got his undergraduate and master’s degrees. He got a law degree from Yale University and as a Rhodes scholar also got a degree from Oxford.

Despite his past as an athlete, he said is now “somewhat out of shape.”

The mayor said he now has an even more profound respect for firefighters.

Booker is known for his hands-on assistance to his constituents, even shoveling snow during a blizzard that snarled his city and the Northeast in 2010.

A prolific social media user, he tweeted late Thursday that he was fine and thanked his followers for their well-wishes.

“Thanks 2 all who are concerned. Just suffering smoke inhalation,” Booker tweeted. “We got the woman out of the house. We are both off to hospital. I will b ok.”

He then posted a tweet early Friday morning that read: “Thanks everyone, my injuries were relatively minor. Thanks to Det. Alex Rodriguez who helped get all of the people out of the house.”

Woman Burns Oldest Tree in Florida to Light Crack Pipe

Unbelievable!

“The Senator”, Fire Destroys Historic Tree

A woman on Tuesday was charged with setting a fire that burned The Senator, one of the world’s oldest cypress trees — and she told authorities she did it because she was wanted light to see the drugs she was doing, investigators said.

Two witnesses identified Sara Barnes, 26, as the person who set the fire, authorities said.

Barnes took photos of the flames with her cellphone and told one of the witnesses that she started it, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Servicessaid.

“She did not call the Fire Department or 911 to report the fire,” said Sterling Ivey, an agriculture-department spokesman.

Suspect - Sarah Barnes

The tree, which had twigs and branches piled at the base, burned quickly.

“It’s a great fuel source,” Ivey said. “Unfortunately.”

Investigators searched Barnes’ apartment near Winter Park Tuesday and confiscated her cellphone and laptop computer. Authorities found methamphetamine, a glass pipe and other drug paraphernalia, they said.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office arrested Barnes late Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. Another woman with Barnes at the apartment was arrested on charges of drug and paraphernalia possession.

Her Facebook page, which describes her as a model who attended Winter Park High School, contained several profanity-laced comments late Tuesday. One decried her for “destroying a global treasure,”Pictures: The Senator, the fire and historical photos

The Senator, which stood at Big Tree Park north of Longwood, burned a little after 5:30 a.m. Jan. 16. Known as “The Big Tree,” it was thought to have been more than 3,500 years old. With a height of 118 feet and a diameter of nearly 18 feet, the tree was a tourist attraction long before Walt Disney World.

A tip to Crimeline Jan. 17 led to Barnes’ arrest. She is being held in the Seminole County Jail.

Another person was with Barnes when the interior of the tree was set on fire, Ivey said. That person has not been publicly identified or charged.

Seminole County will spend nearly $30,000 to install fencing at Big Tree Park near the site where The Senator stood, county commissioners decided today. The fence is designed to prevent someone from stealing the remains of the tree or damaging Lady Liberty, another cypress tree that is an estimated 2,000 years old.

President Obama – Fighting Words!

“I think it’s fair to say that I have gone out of my way in every instance — sometimes at my own political peril and to the frustration of Democrats — to work with Republicans to find common ground to move this country forward. Each time, what we’ve seen in games-playing, a preference to try to score political points rather than actually get something done.” – President Obama

McCain Blames “Illegal Immigrants” For Arizona Fires

Hate to say it, but somehow I haven’t felt one hell of a lot of sympathy for Arizona lately…

Not cheering the disaster which has befallen the state…

But I just find it real hard to work up much sympathy for a bunch of Republicans who have made racism and intolerance the key to their actions. I mean – if Jan Brewer and her merry bunch of bigots and racist burns in the Arizona hellfire…

I really can’t say the country is worse off.

Probably should have listened to the preacher this AM a bit more on that forgiveness and tolerance part.

McCain blames some Arizona wildfires on illegal immigrants

U.S. Sen. John McCain is blaming illegal immigrants for starting some of the wildfires that have scorched hundreds of thousands of acres in Arizona.
“There is substantial evidence that some of these fires have been caused by people who have crossed our border illegally,” McCain, R-Arizona, said Saturday at a press conference. “The answer to that part of the problem is to get a secure border.”
The Arizona senator, however, did not say what the evidence is, prompting a swift rebuke from Latino civil rights advocates.
“It’s easier to fan the flames of intolerance, especially in Arizona,” said Randy Parraz, a civil rights advocate who ran unsuccessfully against McCain as a Democratic candidate in 2010.
Parraz called McCain’s remarks “careless and reckless” but not entirely surprising given the political climate in Arizona. The Latino advocate is co-founder of Citizens for a Better Arizona, a group trying the recall the legislator who authored the state’s controversial anti-illegal immigration law.
Parraz said McCain “should know better” than to make such an accusation without presenting any facts.
McCain said that illegal immigrants set such fires either to send signals, keep warm or distract law enforcement agents. But he did not specify which fires allegedly had been started by illegal immigrants, nor did he identify his sources or provide details of the “substantial” evidence he cited.
Firefighters are currently battling five wildfires that have burned a combined 732,427 acres in Arizona, according to InciWeb, an online interagency database that tracks fires, floods and other disasters. The fires are under investigation and suspects have not been named. However, local media outlets have reported anecdotal cases of fires breaking out in areas where illegal immigrants have been known to cross the border.
Parraz said it is particularly distressing that immigrants are being blamed for destructive fires at a time when many are also being targeted given the state’s unemployment, foreclosure and other economic issues.
“People are looking for someone to blame,” he said, claiming it is too easy and convenient to target what he called one of Arizona’s “most vulnerable populations.”
Angelo Falcon, the president of the National Institute for Latino Policy, criticized McCain for what he called “increasingly blatant” political opportunism.

That’s not “political opportunism” Mr Falcon… That’s just plain old conservative lynch mob racism.

Burn Baby, Burn… Indeed.

McCrystal’s Example of Self Career Limiting

President Obama needs to cut this stupid SOB loose. The issue here is that this isn’t about major policy issues – it’s about a personality contest between McCrystal and everyone else as to who has the longest weenie. A guy like that in the leadership chain destroys the leadership below him by factionalizing the leadership into Kool-aid drinkers and folks who want to get the job done.

McCrystal needs to be put in charge of one of those WWII era “Supply” bases in the Aleutian Islands, with a large staff of Gooney Birds, damn few enlisted men,  and a wonderful view of the Aurora Borealis.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
