Sen. Cory Booker Under Protective Detail After Assasination Threat

White wingers…Again.

Corey Booker (l) and Va Senator Doug Jones

Sen. Cory Booker Gets Extra Security Following Death Threat

Police have beefed up security at the senator’s residence in Newark, New Jersey.

Police in Newark, New Jersey, were providing increased protection to Sen. Cory Booker(D-N.J.) after the lawmaker and his family received a death threat.

Newark police were notified by U.S. Capitol Police “regarding a threat on the life” of Booker and his family members, the city’s mayor, Ras Baraka, said on Saturday in a statement. “As a result, members of the Police Division’s Executive Protection Unit have been assigned to provide security at the Senator’s residence in Newark,” the mayor said, according to ABC News.

Baraka did not elaborate on the threat.

Booker was recently in Alabama for the special Senate election that pitted Republican Roy Moore against Democrat Doug Jones. Booker, who’d canvassed for Jones, celebrated the Democrat’s surprising victory last week.

Booker, one of President Donald Trump’s most vociferous critics in Congress, has in recent days blasted the Federal Communications Commission decision to repeal net neutrality, slammed what he called Trump’s “all-out assault on the LGBTQ community,” and called for the president to resign over accusations of sexual harassment.

Those Second Amendment Solutions to Trumpcare…

Seems tone deaf Republican efforts to push a massively unpopular bill through Congress at the expense of the public has led to some reminders of just whom they work for…

And the fact that if you screw over the public, the public’s reaction may not be kind.

Why exactly are these folks pushing legislation which is so massively unpopular? It isn’t for America.

Break-in, ‘threatening note’ at office of GOP senator considered swing vote in health-care bill

Police said a “threatening note” was found over the weekend after a break-in at the Las Vegas office of Sen. Dean Heller, a Republican who could be a critical swing vote on the GOP health-care bill.

Las Vegas police said officers responded to a call about a burglary alarm Saturday morning at Heller’s office in southwest Las Vegas. There, they discovered what they described in a statement as a “threatening note” addressed to Heller (R-Nev.) near the door to his office.

The Nevada Independent’s Jon Ralston reported that the note was related to the Senate’s upcoming vote on the GOP’s health-care bill:

A note taped to Sen. Dean Heller’s campaign office was from someone asserting that he would lose his health care if the key senator voted for the repeal bill and that he would die if that happened and would take Heller with him, a law enforcement source said.

Police said Monday that they would not disclose the contents of the note, citing an ongoing investigation. Megan Taylor, a spokeswoman for Heller, confirmed the break-in but said that she could not comment, because of the investigation.

Heller has been under pressure from the left and the right over his vote on the health-care bill. Republican lawmakers have been steadfast for years in their promise to “repeal and replace” the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama’s signature health-care measure — a pledge Donald Trump frequently invoked on the campaign trail.

However, as The Washington Post’s David Weigel pointed out, Heller is the only Senate Republican facing reelection in 2018 in a state won by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton last year. His unique position has made him the focus of several advertising campaigns trying to lobby for his vote.

Last month, Heller came out against an earlier iteration of the GOP’s health-care bill, becoming the fifth Republican senator to do so at the time. At a June 23 news conference, Heller said he was particularly concerned about potential cuts to Medicaid, as well as the impending loss of insurance for those struggling with mental-health and substance-abuse issues.

“I’m telling you right now, I cannot support a piece of legislation that takes away insurance from tens of millions of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Nevadans,” Heller said then….

The incident at Heller’s office follows similar incidents involving other GOP senators in recent weeks. Over the July Fourth recess, a protester was arrested outside the Tucson office of Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) after allegedly asking a staffer: “You know how liberals are going to solve the Republican problem? They are going to get better aim.” And an Omaha man was arrested this month after walking into an Iowa motorcycle shop and allegedly saying that he “could kill” Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who was scheduled to visit the shop the next day.

The break-in also came just three days after the Federal Election Commission ruled that House and Senate lawmakers may now use campaign funds to pay for security upgrades at their personal homes — a change from previous rulings that required lawmakers to petition the panel on a case-by-case basis. But after warnings from House and Senate security officials in the wake of the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), the FEC said that security upgrades now qualify as “ordinary and necessary expenses” lawmakers incur as part of official duties.

Security upgrades at congressional district offices are handled with taxpayer funding, and Congress is preparing to spend tens of millions more dollars to protect lawmakers and their staffs. All 435 House lawmakers are receiving $25,000 in emergency funding added to their annual office allowances to be used for any security purpose — a nearly $10.9 million expense that can be used to add bulletproof windows at district offices or to hire a private security guard for public events back home. And at least $5 million is earmarked for the House sergeant at arms to pay for security upgrades at House district offices that face threats or are considered vulnerable….

Off Duty Lansing Cop Chokes Teen and Threaten to Kill Him…For Being on His Lawn

Another out of control cop. This one off duty. Black teens sit in his front yard to tend to one of them who had been injured. White cop comes out tackles one of them starts choking him and threatening to kill him.

Guess the only good thing is he didn’t have his gun so he could have shot both kids and had the County Prosecutor get him off with an all white, Trump voter jury.

Off-Duty Officer Pins Black Teen To Ground For Being On His Lawn

Another teen filmed the video and begged the officer to let them go.

Police officers in the Village of Lansing, Illinois, are investigating an incident involving an off-duty police officer who was filmed holding a black teenager to the ground and threatening his life for being on the officer’s lawn.

Another minor filmed a portion of the Saturday confrontation, which was later shared on Facebook, where it went viral. The roughly 90-second video, seen below, contains explicit language throughout.

In it, an adult man straddles the teen and puts his hand around his neck. The man can be heard scolding the teen for coming onto his property and says, “I’m going to fucking kill you.”

Andrew M. Stroth, a civil rights attorney who is representing the teen’s family, identified him as 15-year-old Jordan Brunson and identified the teen who recorded the incident only as Aaron, also 15.

Later in the video, the off-duty officer tells Brunson that he is “trying to figure out what’s going on and you guys are acting stupid.”

When Brunson tells the man that “he is not involved in this,” the man says, “I don’t give a fuck who is. Do you understand that?”

“Why are you doing this to me then?” Brunson asks, to which the man replies, “Because your friend is being a fucking idiot,” apparently referring to Aaron.

A woman named Ann Falls, who claims to be related to Brunson, shared the video Monday on Facebook. It has been viewed nearly 4 million times.

The Lansing Police Department confirmed to the Northwest Indiana Times that officials had been investigating the incident before video of the confrontation was uploaded to the internet. The confrontation was related to a larger fight that had broken out among about 30 juveniles earlier in the day, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Brunson told Chicago news station WGN-TV that he was trying to help his friend who had been injured in a fight and went to sit on the officer’s porch.

“I was examining him,” Brunson told the news station. “I was going to go tell his grandmother.” Brunson also said that the man never identified himself as a police officer.

When asked about the officer’s confrontation of the teens, a spokesperson for the Lansing police directed HuffPost to statements released Monday, which said the off-duty officer “became involved when he was approached by two other subjects involved in the fight.”

“One of the juveniles had visible minor injuries, and the other was temporarily detained for further investigation until the arrival of on-duty officers,” the statement said.

The off-duty officer had found a backpack containing a baseball hat and a BB gun in his backyard, then he saw the injured 15-year-old on his property, according to the police’s statement Tuesday. The teen told the officer that he had been in a fight with several black male juveniles.

A black 15-year-old (Brunson, who is not identified by name in the police statement) then reportedly approached the injured teen and the off-duty officer on the officer’s property. According to police, the officer told both teens to stay put until police arrived, but they refused, “resulting in the off-duty officer physically detaining one of the juveniles.”

Stroth, whose law firm investigates police brutality, called the officer’s actions unwarranted and excessive, and said the earlier fight between the teens was unrelated to the officer’s treatment of Brunson.

“The video speaks for itself. It’s yet another example of a white officer using excessive and unreasonable force against a 15-year-old black boy,” Stroth told HuffPost. “Based on eyewitness reports and the video, Jordan did nothing to provoke the unwarranted and excessive force used by the police officer.”

Stroth told HuffPost that police had not filed any charges against either boy. Lansing police have not released the name of the officer, who is still on active duty, Police Chief Dennis Murrin told the Northwest Indiana Times.

Brunson’s family has not pressed any charges against the officer, though Stroth’s law firm is conducting its own investigation into the incident.

Iowa Dem Quits Race After White Wing Attacks

More white wing thuggery. Not surprising Steve King has rallied the bigots, thugs, and criminals to his defense. Hope someone steps up to the plate and runs against him so the decent people of Iowa can take this bastard out of office.

Fearing for her life, Iowa Democrat abandons race to unseat GOP Rep. Steve King

The Democratic candidate running against anti-immigrant Republican Congressman Steve King (IA) announced Saturday that she is dropping out of the race for her own safety.

In a Facebook post published Saturday night, Kim Weaver wrote, “Over the last several weeks, I have been evaluating personal circumstances along with the political climate regarding this campaign. After much deliberation, I have determined that the best decision for me is to withdraw my candidacy for the US House race in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.”

She explained that beginning during her 2016 campaign, she has been receiving threats of physical violence and murder, and said that “recent events at my home” were forcing her to re-evaluate her decision to run against King.

“While some may say enduring threats are just a part of running for office, my personal safety has increasingly become a concern,” Weaver said.

Furthermore, she explained, she cannot currently risk losing her health coverage, which would disappear if she quit her current job to campaign full time. Added to that, Weaver said her mother is in poor health in Des Moines.

“I feel that it’s necessary to be more available to support her. Considering this, along with the time and energy it takes to succeed as a candidate, I realize that I can’t fully commit to both,” Weaver wrote. “With all this in mind, I have made the difficult decision to end my campaign, and to move out of the district and back to Des Moines where I grew up.”

Weaver thanked her campaign staff, family and friends and urged them to stay active.

“I humbly ask for your support and understanding during this difficult time, as well as your continued support with the effort to unseat Steve King,” she wrote.

King is notoriously anti-immigrant and has made a number of embarrassingly tone-deaf statements about Latino immigrants and people of color during his time in office.

Black Professor Forced to Cancel Tour After Faux News Inspired Death Threats

Faux New riling up the crazies against black folks…Again.

Professor forced to cancel book tour after Fox News fans threaten to lynch her for ripping Trump

A black professor was forced to cancel the rest of her book tour after a Fox News report prompted dozens of death threats against her — and she accuses the conservative network of inciting its viewers to violence.

Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor delivered the commencement address last month at Hampshire College, and Fox News aired a portion of the 20-minute speech Sunday that called attention to her criticism of President Donald Trump, reported The Stranger.

Taylor, a Princeton University professor of African-American studies, described the president as a “racist, sexist, megalomaniac,” and the Fox News report suggested that she was encouraging activists to lawlessly thwart the Trump agenda.

After the report on her “Anti-POTUS tirade” aired, Taylor said she has received more than 50 hateful and threatening emails — some of which were issued with such specificity that she canceled portions of a tour to promote her new book, “From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation.”

“Shortly after the Fox story and video were published, my work email was inundated with vile and violent statements. I have been repeatedly called ‘n****r,’ ‘b*tch,’ ‘c*nt,’ ‘dyke,’ ‘she-male,’ and ‘coon’ — a clear reminder that racial violence is closely aligned with gender and sexual violence,” Taylor said. “I have been threatened with lynching and having the bullet from a .44 Magnum put in my head.”

She accused the conservative network of airing the report in an attempt to silence her and other Trump critics.

“I am not a newsworthy person,” Taylor said. “Fox did not run this story because it was ‘news,’ but to incite and unleash the mob-like mentality of its fringe audience, anticipating that they would respond with a deluge of hate-filled emails — or worse. The threat of violence, whether it is implied or acted on, is intended to intimidate and to silence.”

Taylor placed the threats into context with recent violent acts by white supremacists, including the fatal stabbings of two men on a commuter train in Portland, Oregon.

“Their side uses the threat of violence and intimidation because they cannot compete in the field of politics, ideas, and organizing,” she said. “The true strength of our side has not yet been expressed in its size and breadth, and so they believe they are winning. We have to change this dynamic and begin to build a massive movement against racism, sexism, and bigotry in this country. I remain undaunted in my commitment to that project.”

Trumpazoid Death Threats to Woman Congressional Candidate

Another Trumpazoid…Another Hate Crime

Washington man charged with cyberstalking after texting racist death threats to House candidate

Sharlaine LaClair (Facebook)

Charlaine LaClair started receiving racist death threats via text message from an unknown number in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election, the Bellingham Herald reports.

LaClair, a member of the Lummi Tribe, was a Democratic candidate running for the Washington State House of Representatives. She ultimately lost to the Republican incumbent, Luanne Van Werven.

She reported the text messages to police in late October and the FBI identified Skip Edward Saunders of Lynden as the sender.

The text messages that Saunders allegedly sent to LaClair included the following:

“Eat (expletive) and die you inbred piece of (n-word) (expletive) And vote Hillary Rodham Clinton :-)”

“I’m voting Hillary: but if Donald (Trump) wins your (n-word) ass is going into an oven!”

The sender followed up in another message that read, “Legally.”

“You people (expletive) little boys in the smokehouse ceremonies. I was in the group with one of your (n-word) relatives.”

The sender also referred to LaClair’s son as a “dumb piece of (n-word) (expletive),” and mentioned by name people that she knew and accused them of acting violently toward women.

Saunders was confronted by the FBI on November 2 and was charged with two felonies for cyberstalking and malicious harassment.

Last Thursday, he pleaded “not guilty” and was placed on bail for $10,000 but remains in jail. This is not the first time Saunders has engaged in similar activities.

LaClair said she hopes that Saunders gets help moving forward and spoke out against Donald Trump’s victory. She said, “I think it emboldened people who were already racist. It made those people feel like it’s okay to say these things, in public.”

KKK Lawyer Makes Death Threat at Los Angeles City Council Meeting

Another case of Trumpazoid whack jobs…

Los Angeles lawyer who wears KKK hoods to city meetings threatens to lynch black councilman

A white Encino lawyer known for showing up at Los Angeles City government meetings in a Ku Klux Klan hood is facing criminal charges for threatening a black Los Angeles City Councilman, ABC7 reports.

An attorney from the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Encino submitted a speaker card on Wednesday night directed at Council president Herb Wesson, who is African-American, covered with racist language and imagery.

Police arrested Wayne Spindler for a felony count of making criminal threats and using hate speech. The 46-year-old is free after posting $75,000 bail and set to appear in court on June 10.

Spindler is no stranger to L.A. City Hall, and Wesson told reporters he no longer feels safe while on the premises, telling KTLA he has become so concerned that he and his staff don’t walk through City Hall alone.

On the speaker card, Spindler calls himself “Wayne from Encino.” In what appears to be bright blue marker, he drew a burning cross, a man hanging from a tree and a crude picture of a KKK member holding a noose and a sign that reads “Herb = N***er.”

a

The card was submitted to the May 11 meeting of the Rules, Elections, Intergovernmental Relations and Neighborhoods Committee, of which Wesson is chair. Wesson is also the first African-American City Council president.

The California State Bar lists Spindler as a currently-licensed attorney with no record of professional discipline.

“Criticism comes with the job and I can usually blow it off as part of the job,” Wesson told the Los Angeles Sentinel. “But the often harassing and threatening comments made by Mr. Spindler have become increasingly worse over time. It has risen to the point that I have serious concerns about my safety, my family’s safety, my staff’s safety and the safety of my colleagues on the city council.”

The Sentinel reports Spindler has directed racist attacks at other black City Council members, and uses swear words during his public comments.

“When there are kids attending the Council meeting, he will use the F word every-other-word. He gets some sick joy out of traumatizing kids,” Councilwoman Nury Martinez told the Sentinel. “On a day when the Council recognized Denim Day to fight rape, Mr. Spindler made disgusting and sexist language that promotes rape culture. When Mr. Spindler calls me and other women ‘cunt’ or ‘bitch,’ he is not advancing constructive dialogue. He is abusive and sexist. His only goal seems to be to disrupt meetings and offend everyone in the room.”
