Rapper Concert Cancelled for… “Unforeseen Incarceration”

“I’m sorry, but the concert has been cancelled due to unforseen incarceration. However, your tickets will be honored at a make-up concert as soon as we can schedule it.”

“Great! When can  I expect that to be?”

“10-20 years…”

In yet another case of Trump white boy justice being different for “some” folks…the black rapper got a 3 times longer sentence than a white child rapist.

Rapper’s concert performance cancelled due to ‘unforeseen incarceration’

Publicists for a festival in Louisiana say rapper Kevin Gates has cancelled his performance due to “an unforeseen incarceration.”

The Baton Rouge singer was sentenced Wednesday to 180 days in jail after being convicted of kicking a female fan at a Florida concert last year.

Organizers of the 2016 Voodoo Fest said in a tweet that the artist scratched his performance “due to an unforeseen incarceration.”

News outlets report a Polk County jury found Gates guilty of battery after he was captured on cellphone video kicking 19-year-old Miranda Dixon at Lakeland’s Rumors Nightclub, where he performed last August.

Dixon, who was in the crowd, testified that she tugged on Gates’ pants twice to get his attention for her friend. After the second time, she says Gates kicked her so hard that she fell back and passed out.

Gates’ attorney, Jose Baez, argued his client was battered by the woman before he kicked her and that Dixon has a financial motive in the case, saying that she had a civil lawyer.

The New Orleans Advocate reports Gates was slated to perform on Voodoo’s Pepsi Stage at 8:45 p.m. on Friday. No word yet on who, if anyone, will replace him. He has presumably also scrapped his post-fest show at the House of Blues, which was slated for later Friday night.

A Really Crappy Performance!

Poop goes the Pigeon!

Hail of Pigeon Poop Ends Concert

Musicians for centuries have faced rotten tomatoes from disapproving audiences, but never before what faced the Kings of Leon on Friday night: Taking the stage for a show in St. Louis, the band was forced off after only three songs by a barrage of poop coming from pigeons in the rafters above. “The last thing I was going to do was look up … but if that was only a couple, we must have caught them right after a big Thanksgiving dinner,” joked bassist Jared Followill.

The band had fair warning, though, notes CNN: Both opening acts came off-stage covered in doo-doo. The Kings tried to tough it out, but gave up after Followill got hit on each of the three opening songs. “We had 20 songs on the set list,” he said. “By the end of the show, I would have been covered from head to toe.” Normally, the band goes over much better with audiences.

Re Re and Condi Do a Duet For Charity

That’s right, the Queen of Soul and Condolezza Rice will be performing at a charity. Condi, among her many achievements, is a talented classical pianist – and everybody knows Aretha can sing.

Call ’em bipartisan soul sisters.

Democrat Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, is tapping her Republican pal, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, for a concert in Philadelphia next month.

The odd-couple pairing is more likely than it sounds, since Rice is a classically trained pianist and Franklin is currently working on an opera record featuring well-known arias.

“Ms. Rice is a consummate classical pianist and since I sing the arias, I thought that we could do something — a bipartisan effort for our favorite charities,” Franklin said.

At the show, set for July 27 at the Mann Center for Performing Arts, Franklin will perform a program of Handel, Mozart and her own hits.

Rice will accompany her on “Say a Little Prayer” and “Natural Woman.”

Rice will also perform a 20-minute set with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has previously appeared on a bill performing with master cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the 2002 National Medal of Arts awards ceremony.

A rep for Franklin said it’s expected that she and Rice will also appear at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Has Whitney… Lost It?

I wasn’t impressed by Whiney Houston’s performance at her free concert in New York to herald her return. Despite substantial electronic help – her voice appeared to be a shadow of it’s former strength and timbre…

Apparently her fans in Australia agree –

The Damn This Snow Blues!

BTx3 had been planning to see one of the last standing Blues legends tomorrow night – 96 year old Pinetop Perkins…

But his flight got canceled by the snowstorms!

Pinetop is 96 years old, and still performing – but at 96, you have to take any possible opportunity to see him, if you love music.

They got me checking back weekly …

For a reschedule.
