Re Re and Ms Patti Battle of the Pumpkin Pies

Things are getting ready to get deliciously interesting here as Aretha Franklin enters into the food market that Patti La belle has done very well in. Now, Ms Patti is getting a lot of accolades for her pies sold through Walmart – but her Barbeque sauce will titillate your tongue and get your toes wriggling!

I hungrily look forward to this competition…

Aretha Franklin: ‘Ms. Patti Is Gonna Have To Move That Pie To The Side!’

It appears Aretha Franklin wants a piece of Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pie success. Well, sort of.

During an interview with Detroit’s WDIV Local 4 news on Wednesday, Franklin was asked by a correspondent if she tried LaBelle’s popular Wal-Mart sweet potato pie.

“No, I haven’t, but Ms. Patti’s gonna have to move that pie to the side,” Franklin said before sharing that she is currently working with a Phoenix-based food group to launch her very own line of food products.

The Queen of Soul says her line of products will include chili, gumbo and baked chicken.

Franklin’s forthcoming food venture will add to the pair’s alleged rivalry, which made headlines in 2014 following a rumored fist fight between the two in Atlanta. Despite the reports, Franklin later dismissed the encounter in a statement to USA Today.

“I’ve never heard anything crazier — regarding myself and Patti allegedly fighting on March 20, in Atlanta,” she said. “Patti and I are cool and we always have been. I enjoyed her at the White House. Classic Patti.”

Wishing the Queen Of Soul a Healthy Recovery – ReRe Has Surgery

Back when Re Re was the Queen –

Aretha Franklin recovering from ‘highly successful surgery’

Aretha Franklin is doing well after undergoing a mystery surgery on Thursday.

“The surgery was highly successful,” Franklin, 68, said in a statement. “God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. God bless you all for your prayers!”

She underwent the procedure about 5 a.m. Thursday at a Detroit hospital.

The reason for the surgery was not revealed. In November, her publicist announced that she had canceled all her performances through May.

Re Re and Condi Do a Duet For Charity

That’s right, the Queen of Soul and Condolezza Rice will be performing at a charity. Condi, among her many achievements, is a talented classical pianist – and everybody knows Aretha can sing.

Call ’em bipartisan soul sisters.

Democrat Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, is tapping her Republican pal, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, for a concert in Philadelphia next month.

The odd-couple pairing is more likely than it sounds, since Rice is a classically trained pianist and Franklin is currently working on an opera record featuring well-known arias.

“Ms. Rice is a consummate classical pianist and since I sing the arias, I thought that we could do something — a bipartisan effort for our favorite charities,” Franklin said.

At the show, set for July 27 at the Mann Center for Performing Arts, Franklin will perform a program of Handel, Mozart and her own hits.

Rice will accompany her on “Say a Little Prayer” and “Natural Woman.”

Rice will also perform a 20-minute set with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has previously appeared on a bill performing with master cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the 2002 National Medal of Arts awards ceremony.

A rep for Franklin said it’s expected that she and Rice will also appear at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and at Carnegie Hall in New York.
