150 Girls Poisoned For Going to School in Afghanistan

Sometimes I come to the conclusion that the only way to “solve” the Islamic nutcase problem in Afghanistan is to go “Roman”.

That is, like in Biblical times – go scorched earth and kill every male child over the age of 6 in the country.

Look up “chickenshit” on the Web – Shortly there will be a picture of the punk azz Afghani fathers who let the Taliban who committed this crime live afterwards.

Report: 150 Afghan schoolgirls poisoned

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan – About 150 schoolgirls were poisoned Tuesday after drinking water at their high school that was contaminated, Reuters reports. Local officials blamed the incident on radicals opposed to women attending school.

Reuters said the girls suffered headaches and vomiting, with some in critical condition.

“This is not a natural illness. It’s an intentional act to poison schoolgirls,” Haffizullah Safi, head of Takhar province’s public health department, told Reuters.

The Taliban banned education for women when it controlled Afghanistan, saying it was anti-Islamic.

Girls have gone back to school since the Taliban were toppled, but attacks against female students, teachers and school buildings have occurred, particularly in southern and eastern areas of the country, when Taliban insurgents enjoy more public support.

Do Not F*&K With Our Museum!

Now – I don’t know where these morons come from – but they are way off base.

You want to protest the Iran and Iraq Wars, then you go after the folks who lied us into them in the first place. Attacking our National Museum only accomplishes that which the same folks have tried to do over and over in Republican attacks on Public Radio and Public educational facilities around the country. Ergo – an ignorant population is a safely Republican population following to war like blind sheep. The surest way to assure ignorance is to destroy the sources of information and knowledge. Message to the October 2011 clowns – You were violating sacred ground.

You want to accomplish something – go protest at the Value Voters Summit or any of the right wing conclaves funded by the beneficiaries of the Military Industrial Complex such as the Koch brothers…

But you stay the flock away from our museums, our libraries, and our publicly funded sources of information.

Go after the Koch suckers!

Wolves in sheep’s clothing…Indeed.

Thank You for Defending Our Museum!

Air and Space Museum closes after guards clash with protesters

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum on the Mall was abruptly closed Saturday afternoon after a “large group of protesters” tried to push past security guards and enter the museum, a spokeswoman said.

At least one demonstrator was pepper-sprayed by a museum guard in the confrontation, said Smithsonian spokeswoman Linda St. Thomas. Several witnesses said that more than a dozen people were affected by the spray.

The museum was closed at about 3:15 p.m., St. Thomas said.

Some of the protesters were affiliated with the Occupy DCdemonstration that had sprung up at McPherson Square last week as an offshoot of the larger Occupy Wall Street movement in New York City, said Cody Steele, 21, an American University senior who participated in the march to the museum.

Steele said the march was planned, however, by a different but like-minded group of protesters — known as the October 2011 group — who have been camped out in Freedom Plaza since Oct. 6.

“It’s a shifting movement,” said Steele, who has spent time with both protest groups this past week. “They are separate, but it’s a common set of goals.”

The two groups’ grievances span a range of issues, including corporate power, environmental destruction and American militarism. On Saturday, they were demonstrating at the museum against the U.S. military’s use of drones in overseas wars, witnesses said.

An exhibit of military unmanned aerial vehicles is currently on view at the museum.

As many as 200 people attempted to enter the museum through doors facing the National Mall, said St. Thomas, while others gathered at the museum’s Independence Avenue entrance. The demonstrators carried large signs and other items not allowed inside the museum, she said.

When a security guard told them they could not enter, demonstrators pushed the guard outside and up against a wall, St. Thomas said. Another guard approached and pepper-sprayed one protester before D.C. police and U.S. Park Police were called, she said, and one person was arrested.

No one was seriously hurt by the pepper spray, said Pete Piringer, a spokesman for D.C. Fire and EMS. Medics treated several people at the scene, Piringer said, but everyone affected by the pepper spray refused to be taken to hospitals for further evaluation.

How the Tea Bagger Racism Kills Americans

Those old enough to remember the Vietnam War may remember one of the most divisive and bitterest incidents during the war – the visit by Jane Fonda to North Vietnam while American Troops and North Vietnamese troops were actively engaged in trying to kill each other. Go to any VFW in America, and you will find a bunch of folks who view Jane Fonda with the sort of derision usually reserved for foreign enemies like Hitler or Tojo.

Strongly opposed to the Vietnam War, “Hanoi Jane’s” picture sitting on an anti-aircraft gun utilized to shoot down American Pilots gave me a lot of heartburn. There is a Grand Canyon size distance between opposing the actions of your government, and supporting the folks shooting at your friends, brothers, fathers, and fellow Americans.

Which brings us to the situation today. If Hanoi Jane was a traitor – then so too are the small legion of Tea Baggers currently putting our troops in the Middle East at risk so that they can promote ethnic racism. The Peter Kings, Alan Wests, Herman Cains, Michelle Bachmans et al are traitors too. In the case of Bachman, King, and West – they are even lower level scum because they are elected officials of the US Government, and as such are briefed on what happens to American personnel when crap like their Muslim baiting hits the press.

My position is that these scumbags should be impeached and convicted by their peers – and suffer the legal consequences.

I’m not sure if any Americans were killed in this one – but this is the logical conclusion of the sort of ethnic and religious racism and extremism promote by the Tea Baggers.

How many of our soldiers have died because of these treasonous, racist scum?

UN staff killed during protest in northern Afghanistan

Protesters outside the Blue Mosque in Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan (1 April 2011)At least eight foreign UN workers and four others have been killed in an attack on a UN compound in the Afghan city of Mazar-e Sharif, officials say.

The violence happened during a protest over the burning of the Koran in a US church last month.

Witnesses said hundreds of people were protesting peacefully in the city when the scene suddenly turned violent.

A local police spokesman told the BBC the city was now under control and a number of people had been arrested.

The UN has confirmed its workers were killed but has not said how many – it said the situation remained “confusing”.

“We are currently working to ascertain all the facts and take care of all our staff,” said spokesman Dan McNorton.

UN officials quoted by Reuters warned that the death toll could rise and added that those killed included foreign and local staff, UN guards and Nepalese Gurkha soldiers hired to protect the compound.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described it as “an outrageous and cowardly attack”.

US President Barack Obama also condemned the attack “in the strongest possible terms”, saying the work of the UN “is essential to building a stronger Afghanistan”.

F*** condemning the attack, President Obama. What you need to be doing is offering the choice of a rope or a bullet to the right wing American scum whoring our people’s lives for political points.

War! What Is It Good For?… Minerals

Was in a discussion the other day with one of the ill informed (a conservative), where I jokingly said the best way to solve Afghanistan was to go “Red Army” and kill off all the Poppy crop, and level the mountains…

Turns out that’s just what we are going to do.

Turns Outh There's Lithium Under Dem Thar Rocks!

US Finds $1T Worth of Minerals in Afghanistan

Vast deposits of iron, copper, gold, and lithium have been discovered throughout Afghanistan by US geologists, a find estimated to be worth $1 trillion. The discovery of such huge natural resources could turn Afghanistan into one of the world’s most important mining centers—and could have a profound impact on a country whose economy is based largely on illicit opium production and foreign aid, reports the New York Times. Afghanistan, a country with no mining industry or infrastructure, could become the “Saudi Arabia of lithium,” according to a Pentagon memo, and international competition for mining rights was strong even before the discovery was announced: China is seen as a major player and is accused of making a $30 million bribe to obtain contracts last year. The potential wealth could also prove a powerful incentive for the Taliban to continue fighting for regional control. Read the full article.

New Fungus Destroying Afghan Opium Crops

If the US Government didn’t spread this fungus – then they need to get a sample and start growing it, and spray it on every single field…

And kill it all.

The "Opium ball" is formed after the plant flowers, and contains the opium...

Fungus hits Afghan opium poppies

A serious disease is affecting opium poppies in Afghanistan, Antonio Maria Costa, the head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has said.

Mr Costa told the BBC that this year’s opium production could be reduced by a quarter, compared with last year.

He said the disease – a fungus – is thought to have infected about half of the country’s poppy crop. Afghanistan produces 92% of the world’s opium.

Mr Costa said opium prices had gone up by around 50% in the region.

That could have an impact on revenues for insurgent groups like the Taliban which have large stockpiles of opium, he told the BBC’s Bethany Bell.

The fungus attacks the root of the plant, climbs up the stem and makes the opium capsule wither away.

It was affecting poppies in the provinces of Helmand and Kandahar, the heartland of opium cultivation and the insurgency in Afghanistan, he said. Read the rest of this entry »

Obama on 60 Minutes: The Full Video

President Obama on 60 Minutes. Notice that while President Obama is charming as always – he is direct and taking no prisoners. I believe the virulence and racism of his detractors has grown old with him. He plainly states he is tired of trivialization by the press and unfair criticism.

I think we are seeing a new President Obama, who is comfortable in his role as President – and isn’t going to be taking any prisoners anymore in dealing with the .
