Orange Jumpsuit Award – The ACORN Pimp

Acorn Antagonist Arrested in New Orleans

ACRON Pimp Trading His Furry Duds for and Orange Jumpsuit?

Four young men posing as telephone repairmen have been arrested for allegedly interfering with the telephones in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office in downtown New Orleans, including James O’Keefe 3rd, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos have scandalized the ACORN voter registration operation.

According to a federal affidavit unsealed Tuesday in New Orleans, O’Keefe and three others were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses to commit a felony on Monday when they told the senator’s aide they were repairmen and needed access to the main phone line at the reception desk.

O’Keefe has appeared on numerous conservative stations with his videos of ACORN operations. He is most widely known for pretending to be a pimp and secretly taping ACORN officials in several cities, where he obtained advice on tax evasion, human smuggling and child prostitution. To many he has become a conservative folk hero and has promised similar techniques to ambush other liberal organizations.

Another of the defendants, 24-year-old Robert Flanagan, was identified as the son of William Flanagan, the top federal prosecutor and acting head of the United States Attorney’s Office in Shreveport, La.

According to FBI Special Agent Stephen Rayes, O’Keefe was the first to appear in Landrieu’s reception area in the late morning Monday on the tenth floor of the Hale Boggs Federal Building. He told a member of the senator’s staff that he was “waiting for someone to arrive.”

The agent said that Flanagan and Joseph Basel, 24, then appeared in the reception area, “each dressed in blue denim pants, a blue work shirt, a light fluorescent vest, a tool belt and carrying white, construction-style hard hats.” They said they were there “to fix problems with the telephone system.”

As O’Keefe appeared to be filming them from his cell phone, Basel ”manipulated” the handset of the receptionist’s phone and Basel tried to call that number from another phone. But “he stated that he could not get through.”

Flanagan and Basel next asked for access to the telephone closet and told a General Services Administration employee on the tenth floor that they were there to repair the phone lines, Agent Rayes said. When asked for their credentials, Flanagan and Basel said they had left their identification in their vehicle.

All four men were arrested, and Agent Rayes said Flanagan and Basel admitted they were not phone repairmen and had entered Landrieu’s office under false pretenses.

The men were released Tuesday on unsecured bonds of $10,000 each.

Come on down, James III…And get your award!

The Not Quite Orange Jumpsuit – Do Not Pass Go Award

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon convicted of embezzling gift cards

After more than six days of deliberation, a jury convicted Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon of embezzlement Tuesday, sending City Hall into confusion and putting the once-bright political future of the city’s first female mayor into jeopardy.

Baltimore Mayor Shiela Dixon Announces - I'm Going to Work

The conviction was on a misdemeanor charge of “fraudulent misappropriation of a fiduciary.” It alleged that the mayor had taken for her personal use more than $600 worth of Target and Best Buy gift cards that had been donated by a prominent local developer for the use of impoverished residents.

The jury, however, acquitted Mayor Dixon of two felony theft charges and another misdemeanor charge. It did not reach a decision on another count of fraudulent misappropriation of a fiduciary.

The verdict throws Baltimore’s political structure into disarray, since it is unclear how long Dixon will be able to stay in office.

Can she stay in office?

According to the Maryland constitution, public office holders are automatically suspended if they are convicted of certain crimes. But the state attorney general has said that Dixon will not be officially “convicted” until she is sentenced – a legal step that might not happen for months, and only if the judge rejects a number of post-trial motions her lawyers have vowed to file.

Even then, legal experts give different opinions about whether her conviction fits one of the criteria for removal: that the offense be related to the office holder’s public duties and responsibilities.

On the one side, lawyers say, the gift cards came through the mayor’s office. But on the other, she could argue that they were not directly related to any of her official duties.

“The distinction might be drawn between embezzling city funds versus embezzling funds from a charity donation kitty that was never part of city funds, and never part of her duties as mayor,” says David Gray, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Law.

Baltimore politics in confusion

For the time being, then, her status is up in the air. The confusion causes particular problems for Baltimore. The city has one of the most legally powerful mayors in the country, and little municipal business goes forward without her guidance and approval.

“The mayor basically holds all the cards,” says Donald Norris, chair of the Department of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. “This really could mean gridlock … and it will probably mean that everybody is going to be walking around on eggshells until this thing is revolved.”

If Dixon is removed from office, the city council president – Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, also an African-American woman with a strong political background – will serve as interim mayor.

At City Hall, council members expressed sadness today, giving praise to the embattled Dixon, who has been under investigation for more than four years. For her part, Dixon insisted in a statement that she would remain focused on “keeping Baltimore on course in these trying economic times.”

“The city will still continue to move forward,” she said on the courthouse steps after the verdict. “This city will continue to run…. We won’t miss a step.”

Asked by a reporter whether Dixon was headed home or to City Hall, the mayor pulled her suit sleeve back to check her watch.

“I’m going to City Hall,” she said.

Much of the prosecutor’s case revolved around Dixon’s romantic relationship with wealthy developer Ronald Lipscomb, a married man whom lavished her with gifts, including (according to her lawyers) gift cards sent anonymously, expensive  flowers, a $560 pair of shoes, and $4,000 after a Chicago “shopping trip” together…

She still faces trial for Perjury related to not reporting the gifts from Lipscomb.

Orange Jumpsuit Award! “Dollar Bill” Jefferson gets 13 Years

Ex-lawmaker gets 13 years in prison for bribery

Official Orange Jumpsuit

Former Democratic U.S. Representative William Jefferson, who hid $90,000 in cash in his freezer, was sentenced on Friday to 13 years in prison for bribery, racketeering and money laundering.

Jefferson, who lost re-election last year in Louisiana, was accused in 2007 of soliciting millions of dollars in bribes from companies while using his office to broker business deals in Africa. He was convicted in August on 11 of 16 counts.

The case became particularly well-known because FBI agents said they found $90,000 in cash wrapped in foil and hidden inside various frozen food containers in his freezer.

Prosecutors recommended to the judge that Jefferson, 62, be sentenced to at least 27 years in prison. Defense lawyers asked for leniency, citing Jefferson’s long public service, and said he should get less than 10 years.

A Justice Department spokesman said Jefferson received a 13-year prison sentence, followed by three years of probation. He was also ordered to forfeit $470,000.

“Mr. Jefferson is well-known for the $90,000 found in his freezer. It is our hope that he will now be well-known for the tough sentence handed down today, showing that no one — including our elected officials — are above the law,” Neil MacBride, the U.S. attorney in Virginia, said in a statement.

Can’t say I feel bad about this one, having been one of the folks who Dollar Bill tried to put the squeeze on some years ago to get the right to talk to “the right people”.

Orange Jumpsuit Awards – Senators Ensign, DeMint, and Coburn

Turns out Senator John Ensign (R – NV) may have broken several laws in his attempts to cover up boffing one of his staffers, while paying off her pim… uhhhh,  husband, who also worked for Ensign – and apparently was aware of what was going on.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Where Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) of “C Street Crew” fame gets involved is knowing that what Ensign was doing was illegal, facilitating it by negotiating “payment” for nookie.

Second up, is the even more serious case of Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), who has been talking with the Government of Honduras, who our State Department and the Obama Administration has declared as a “Rogue State”. The issue here is that DeMint is encouraging the “Rogue State” to resist the US Government’s efforts to restore the legitimate government of Honduras…

This is Treason, with a capital “T”, under the Logan Act. While unlikely, there is the possibility that the US Government, in concert with other South and Latin American allies could send US troops into the country to restore order…

So we got a US Senator, telling the other side to “stand strong”…

And possibly kill our soldiers?

This SOB needs to be impeached, tried for treason…

And locked up in the general population of a Federal prison, where he can learn the real meaning of patriotism.

Racism will not only make you stupid…

It now appears it will make you a Traitor.

Orange Jumpsuit Award – The Fried Chicken Defense

Hat Tip, NewsOne on this one!

The Leading Suspect

The Leading Suspect

Comedian Flip Wilson’s most famous line was “The Devil Made Me Do It”. In this strange case, the Devil, apparently was Fried Chicken…

Bronx synagogue bumblers bribed by fried chicken charge account – attorney

A lawyer for one of four men accused of plotting to bomb Bronx synagogues complained on Thursday that a government informant plied the suspects with food.

“You can’t watch the tapes that you don’t see eating going on,” said Marilyn Reader, lawyer for accused would-be terrorist Laguerre Payen.

“The [confidential informant] is paying for all these meals.”

At a pretrial hearing in White Plains Federal Court, Reader charged that the informant had a charge account at a Crown Chicken on Broadway and let Payen eat for free.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Leibowitz said he would investigate whether the informant offered inducements – of the chicken variety or otherwise – to the suspects.

“I’m going to inquire as to whether there was a Crown Chicken relationship,” he said.

Defense lawyers are arguing that their clients were entrapped and paid to take part in the plot uncovered in May.

They also claimed that prosecutors did not turn over a tape of a conversation on April 23 that supposedly captured the suspects hatching the plot.

“No recording was ever made,” Leibowitz said.

The four men are set to stand trial on June 14.

Orange Jumpsuit Award! NY Driver Gets 56 Tickets… In 13 Minutes

That’s right… 56 Tickets! Today’s Orange Jumpsuit Award goes to Joshua Bracci, a resident of upstate New York who decided to run from police – because he was drunk, speeding, and driving without a license…

Police: Driver hit 111 mph, receives 56 tickets

A Greece (New York) man was arrested after allegedly driving more than 100 mph though the town to elude police last night.

Joshua M. Bracci, 21, of 199 Mill Road, was arrested on Jade Creek Drive after turning onto the dead end street at 8:37 p.m.

The pursuit was begun by New York State Police on Route 390 at 8:24 p.m.

“The driver was clocked at 111 mph on 390,” said acting Lt. Hank Kula of the Greece Police Department. “He was definitely doing over 100 mph on the streets of Greece.”

Bracci is accused of driving into a parked car on Ballad during the 13-minute pursuit and backing into a patrol vehicle on Jade Creek Drive just before he was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Kula said Bracci also allegedly turned off lights on the sedan he was driving in an effort to lose police while in and around the Widgedon Landing neighborhood. Police said neighbors in the area pitched in by pointing out the directions he was traveling.

Bracci today is in police custody and faces 56 charges from Greece Police and State Police, Kula said. They include first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both felonies, and driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, unlawfully fleeing police, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident.

Bracci was arraigned in Greece Town Court this morning and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or bond, according to Greece court documents. He is slated to return to court for his preliminary hearing at 3 p.m. Friday.

Can you say… Here Comes the Judge!

Orange Jumpsuit Award – Black Man Convicted for Impersonating the Klan

Black Man Pleads Guilty Of Impersonating White Supremacist On Facebook

An African-American man has pleaded guilty after being accused of impersonating a white supremacist in a fictitious Facebook account to make death threats against an African-American university student.

Dyron L. Hart, 20, of Poplarville, Mississippi, pleaded guilty Wednesday before U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to one count of communicating threats in interstate commerce, according to a Department of Justice statement.

Hart admitted creating the fictitious account in November, pretending to be a white supremacist outraged by the election of Barack Obama as the nation’s first African-American president, the statement said.

He then transmitted a death threat via Facebook to an African-American student at Nicholls State University in Louisiana, saying he wanted to kill African-Americans because of Obama’s election, according to the statement.

A court document provided by the U.S. attorney’s office said Hart told an FBI interviewer that he intended the threat to be a prank “to get a reaction.”

So… I can’t wait for the trials of some of the Black conservative race pimp types (as differentiated from those which are simply confused)…

For Impersonating Black People.

The Jury has reccommended that Jefferson forfeit the proceeds of his criminal activity.

  • 1,500,000 shares of stock in W2-IBBS, Limited
  • 600 shares of stock in Multi-Media Broad Band Services, Inc.

The total dollar amount is $470,653.47.

Original Post –

It appears that “Cold Cash” will be headed to the “cooler” with Former Congressman William Jefferson’s conviction by Jury yesterday –

In the event you feel a tear coming on for Congressman Jefferson – think of it in these terms…

Most, if not all of the victims of his extortion and bribery schemes were small black American owned companies seeking to do business in Africa. His corruption was pretty much common knowledge in the Minority business community around the DC Beltway – so his arrest wasn’t really a surprise. Whatever good this man may have done for his constituents is vastly outweighed by the fact he let them down.

Come on down, Cold Cash – and collect your Award! Read the rest of this entry »

Rodell Vereen: SC Man Charged With Having Sex With Horse

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina man was charged with having sex with a horse after the animal’s owner caught the act on videotape, then staked out the stable and caught him at shotgun point, authorities said Wednesday.

But this wasn’t the first time Rodell Vereen has been charged with buggery. He pleaded guilty last year to having sex with the same horse after owner Barbara Kenley found him in the same stable and was sentenced to probation and placed on the state’s sex offender list.

Kenley said she noticed several weeks ago her 21-year-old horse Sugar was acting strange and getting infections again. She noticed things in the barn had been moved around – dirt piled up and bales of hay stacked near the horse’s stall at her Lazy B Stables in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach. Orange JumpSuit Award – “Dollar Bill” Jefferson

The corruption trial of former Congressman William “Dollar Bill” Jefferson begins today in Federal Court…

Fmr. Congressman William Jefferson

Fmr. Congressman William Jefferson

This one will be interesting – not so much from the standpoint that the Feds have him dead to rights…

But from the standpoint of whether Justice Department Prosecutors can actually successfully prosecute a high ranking government official, and second – if they win a conviction what sort of punishment will be meted out.

Nearly four years after federal agents found $90,000 in alleged bribe money in his freezer, former congressman William Jefferson goes to trial Tuesday on charges he sought money, stock and payments to his relatives in exchange for his help in landing African business deals for U.S. companies.

Orange Jumpsuit of the Week Award

The Orange jumpsuit of the week award goes to Karl Rove, who arguably is guilty of treason in the outing of a CIA operative, guilty of lying to every Congressional and Judicial meeting he’s every been in front of, and whose Capital crimes include most of the stratgic work behind the Bushit and the Dick stealing the Presidency.

Orange Jupsuit Awardee - Karl Rove

Yeah, I know that none of the criminal conspiracy forming the former Administration has been brought to their just desserts yet, incorporating long jail terms after fair trials and conviction but we can hope! 5 or 10 years in the General Population of a Federal Prison would vastly imrpove the “Hip Hop Republican’s” dance steps…

Orange Tapdance Award! Tom Delay Investigation Dropped

Tom Delay on Dancing With The Stars

The Obama Administration Justice Department prosecution of Republican political crime bosses has led to the need for the creation of a new type of orange finery beyond the normal orange jumpsuit these guys should have been wearing…

Tom DeLay cleared in federal probe, but Texas charges loom

After a six-year investigation, the Justice Department ended its probe into former House majority leader Tom DeLay’s relations with convicted ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff, without bringing criminal charges. The announcement did not come from the Justice Department, which typically does not comment on investigations that do not result in charges, but from Mr. DeLay’s legal team, as reported by Politico. “Six years is a long time, and I’m sure he wishes it had happened years ago,” Richard Cullen, attorney for the former Texas Republican lawmaker, told Politico Monday. The broad investigation of Mr. Abramoff and his connections stirred up a storm of allegations and led to convictions or charges for some 20 House staff, former lobbyists, and Bush administration officials. One member of Congress, Rep. Robert Ney (R) of Ohio, former chair of the House Administration Committee, was convicted for doing official favors for Mr. Abramoff in exchange for campaign contributions, trips, gifts, sports tickets, and meals. House Democrats used such allegations as Exhibit A in their successful bid to take back the House in 2006. Other members of Congress, including former Sen. Conrad Burns (R) of Montana, Rep. J. D. Hayworth (R) of Arizona, and Rep. Richard Pombo (R) of California lost their 2006 reelection bids in the midst of allegations of involvement in such pay-to-play schemes, but, like DeLay, were not subsequently charged with a crime.

So what was Tom using to Tango away from the Justice Department?
