Haven’t published on the Blog in quite a while. I at least part have been immersed in the area of writing books. My focus is on Science Fiction an Historical Fantasy. I am in the process of publishing my seventh book.
My latest is a 2(+?) book set “The Ghosts of Pirate Black Mary”, the second of which will release this summer. It is “Historical “because a number of the events which happen to the families that makes up the central protagonists are true. It really did happen that way 200-300 years ago in America. They were a mixed race family which at various times operated freely and at others were jailed as “escaped slaves”. They sometimes had to fight, violently for their freedom. Their lineage included white, black, and Native American. Prior to the Civil War they would be defendants in one of the longest running legal actions to make them slaves. They survived, built their own plantation, and indeed owned several slaves themselves. One of which became my GGGGrandmother. They became educated, owned businesses, and contributed to the community.
All while living secret lives.
One I met as a child way up in the mountains of West Virginia one of my Great Aunts who was a Hermit and a practitioner. She could do some amazing things. Making things from common mountain plants through he making of a Peach flavored drink out of season. So…They do exist. Although I have taken a lot of liberties in describing them in my book. It is after all part Fantasy.
