The “#MeToo” movement is valid. But those that take advantage and overplay their hand will make everyone suffer.
Example: I know of some small businesses that refuse to hire women for fear of being unfairly accused of something. They will follow the law and accept resumes, even interview a few people. But they will never hire any women. And this behavior was occurring before current events.

When I first got promoted to that “corner office” back in the day, my secretary had a standing rule to never allow a white woman in my office alone behind closed doors. She would come in to take notes, she would deliver “papers”, or any pretense to be in the office to keep an eye on things. That was back in the 80’s when there were very, very few black senior managers in my industry. Black women? There weren’t any.
Had an ex-girlfriend who applied for a job in another department. She came in dolled up and completely inappropriately dressed. After her interview she asked to see me. Met her in the lunchroom, where we talked about her family that I had known since childhood. Gave her kiss on the cheek goodbye when she left. 15 minutes later the hiring manager come in to announce he wasn’t hiring someone I was having an “affair” with – even though I had neither recommended her for the job or knew preciously that she was interviewing. Got some guff for that one.
