Unfortunately, as thoughtful as Ms. Bass probably is, and as much as i agree with her point of view and political agenda, she said little to put a dent in the Republican talking points. Example: She could’ve asked West specifically which parts of the health care bill should be repealed? The pre-existing conditions clause? The donuts hole provision? The free–market crap should’ve been shut down – businesses cant grow because they can’t get a load, not because of health care.
People like West and his followers have an agenda, reason or dialogue isn’t in the plan. He’s just being a “good” soldier here, nothing more. People like him need to be embarrassed – not for his sake (he probably wouldn’t see it or acknowledge it), but for the right of center folks who may be watching.

Karen Bass was recently speaker of the California Assembly. Her current House seat was vacated with the death of her precedessor, Juanita Millender-McDonald.
Definitely a sharp legislator.
