Holder Calls On Black Fathers To Take Responsibility

AG Eric Holder

Attorney General Eric Holder called on absentee black fathers yesterday to take an active role in their children’s lives, Newsday reported today.

Holder, a Queens native and the first black Attorney General, urged the 400 worshippers at the Memorial Presbyterian Church on Baldwin Turnpike in Queens, N.Y., to orchestrate a “spiritual awakening,” according to the New York newspaper. The Attorney General said a father’s involvement in a family can help combat poverty and crime in black neighborhoods, according to Newsday.

“Too many men in the black community have created children and left them to be raised by caring mothers. These women do a wonderful job, but we ask too much of them and too little of our men,” Holder told the congregation, which included members of his family, according to Newsday. “It should simply be unacceptable for a man to have a child and then not play an integral part in the raising and nurturing of the child.”

Holder’s comments hearken back to comedian Bill Cosby’s speech before the NAACP in 2004, in which he sparked a national debate by urging African-American fathers to take responsibility for their children. And on Father’s Day 2008, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama gave a speech in whcih he said “too many fathers” are “missing from too many lives and too many homes.”

No matter what it takes the black male must be more active in the community which the family is the core. There is no rocket science for this. And now that government after the Health Care and Economics reach stablity, we better think local. I think BT that folks ain’t reading between the lines.

Everytime I hear someone implore black men to be better fathers, I really am at the point that I tune out. Afterall, I am that kind of father, as is my own.

    Is that wrong of me?

No. Everyone seems to want to focus on a small segment of the black population – not the mainstream. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, which in this case means never having gotten past the “black problem”.

Too many men in the black community have created children and left them to be raised by caring mothers.

BET Uncut – Ultimately the Black Community is not going to use the power of ostracization and blackballing against Black men who shun their parental duties in the same measure that you and others are inclined to do with Black Conservatives. Hell – our people can’t even get you all to keep “The Voice Of Street Pirates” – rappers – off the stage IF they are in agreement with your political goals.

Why do you look toward a POLITICAL figure like Holder to offer such messages when after so many years your ideology has gutted so many institutional control elements over our social order?

WTF is institutional control elements over our social order?

Try and write in English, Porch!

And it’s true – “your people” can’t accomplish anything because you are totally devoid of ideas, and inherently wed to sucking that white weenie.

As such, it is left to black moderates to not only belaboring the issues – but providing actual solutions.

      Solutions?

Black conservative ain’t got no stinkin’ solutions!
