Over 1,000 Royal Canadian Mounted Police showed their respect for the 4 fallen officers killed two weeks ago near Seattle. An absolutely incredible outpouring of support for these officer’s families.

These shows of honor for fallen cops have gotten out of hand. Each time it happens, the warped belief is that the Dog & Pony Show has to outdo the last one.
Just heard NYPD cops who came to Seattle for the ceremonies had their rental car prowled, luggage stolen (while a few hundred thousand cop-man-hours were being squandered out of action at the ceremonies). http://www.seattlepi.com/local/413283_coptheft15.html
Would make a lot more sense if fallen cops were honored by working the job extra hard and blowing away a few additional low-life scumbag perps…

Mayhaps. The risk with this sort of display is that it generates an “us versus them” mentality.
I believe that it is important that the public show support and respect for the Police forces in these tragedies – as well as kudos for a job well done. The “long blue line” takes away from that somewhat.

At least this time, for the first time in local recorded history, there wasn’t a Sharpton/Jesse/NAACP/ACLU style outcry over the cop killing the Tacoma shooter-of-4-cops. I expected the usual “execution by cop” screams from the local hardcore liberals…
