Conservative Cheer America’s Losing

Conservatives yesterday jumped up an down with joy that Chicago has lost the bid to host the 2016 Olympics…

Hosting the Olympics means a $40 – 60 billion direct infusion into the American economy, with additional secondary economic benefit (sale of goods and services) in the $250 billion range. That would result in jobs for possibly 100,000 people – including a lifeline resuscitation of the moribund construction industry which is on life support in this recession. While certainly not enough to pull the country out of the mess created by the Bushit conservatives…

Putting 100,000 people to work isn’t “chump change”.

Martin Luther King said:

Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man’s sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true.

So now we got Republicans and conservatives cheering that America LOST the Olympics, billions in revenue, and tens of thousands of new jobs.

We got Senator DeMint (R-SC) flying into a foreign country whose government has been declared an international pariah, not only by the US – but by nations in the same region of the world – to tell them to resist American efforts at returning a legitimate democratically elected government.

So not only will racism make you stupid…
