Jobless Rates Keep Rising

19 Jul

Tis country is in deep deep doo doo…

And as of yet, I don’t see any of the SOBs who screwed the country doing time with the regular run of the mill burglars, thieves, and thugs.

One of my hopes for the Obama Presidency after 8 years of lawless corruption, special justice for special people, and thuggery, is that the Nation through the crucible of recovery from the disastrious policies and corruption of the last 8 years would emerge, at long last to creating a system of real justice serving the people – and not just special interests.

One needs to ask – How hard does the country have to hit the wall, before accountability becomes habit?

Seems to me you have to take out the trash before you can solve the rat problem…

With complexity, population, etc. the way it is, to what extent do you consider the government capable of exercising political and economic ‘control’?

How well prepared do you think the top rich rats are of seizing or appropriating political and economic ‘control’?

Can ‘control’ only be exercised at the margin, nowadays?

The beast of economic collapse is now rather clearly out of its cage. While I suspect there might be some ‘steering’ of what is yet to come, I’m not sanguine about the prospects for controlling.

Those who might exercise ‘control’ in the main, and not on the margin, have not yet seized power in America. What we’ve got now, is clearly NOT that leader/leadership – and no amount of Hope is going to change that fact.

What is needed is a complete and total bootstrap, starting with a rethink of how Wall Street actually works. The drain on our productivity and development has been caused in part by the short sighted investment cycle focused on immediate return, instead of longer term growth.

The second issue is corruption. The default and credit swaps are essentially a Ponzi scheme oriented towards changing the balance on the books through shifting debt from one corporate entity to another.

Where do we go from here?

I think it’s got to hit the wall…Hard… before anyone has the cajones to fix it.

And no – I don’t think the top rats have the ability to control anything anymore. They are in full protect their asses mode. When the country hits 15% unemployment, we are talking guns in the street time.

I just sold my joint close in to the city and moved out a few miles to mega mansion forclosure-ville where some of the big rats live. Driving down the street, fully 1/3 to 1/2 of the mega-mansions are for sale. My philosophy has always been to cop small, with as big a differential between the neighbors and I as I can find. My neighbor has 10 bedrooms in 8,000 sq ft. – I have 3 in about quarter of that on the same size land.

In bad times, small can be unloaded (and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to heat and cool) – in good times the little guy gets the worm selling a tear down.

Where these guys are getting whipsawed is the cap on mortgage lending, meaning the money above the cap has to be brought in cash. Far fewer folks have got that sort of cash right now, meaning the mega-mansion market is sucking serious vapor.

Lot of those rats aren’t so fat anymore…

In fact they are looking mighty peaked.

When the middle, and upper middle class feel the heat…

Isht is going to come down hard.

Yup… Popular fiction that revolutions are started by the “oppressed poor masses”. The reality is that most revolutionary leaders have solidly middle class backgrounds.

When the middle class gets hurt is when things go to hell in a handbasket, whether in the United States or some third world country.

The reason conservatives are trying to whip up the poor white trash isn’t Obama. It’s the fact that once the middle class realizes just how badly they’ve been screwed – there may well be some “head hunting” of the culprits. Especially if the Obama Administration continues the policy of not prosecuting the guilty.

And the middle class full well knows it wasn’t Obama and the Democrats who were in charge these past 8 years passing all those bills which led to the rape of their 401k’s, and losses of their homes.
