Bill Clinton to Become a Sigma!

09 Jul

The newest Sigmas are to be Bill Clinton, and the Rev. Al Sharpton…

Former President Bill Clinton

Former President Bill Clinton

President Bill Clinton set to join Phi Beta Sigma

The men of Phi Beta Sigma are hosting their National Conclave this week in New Orleans, Louisiana.

According to sources in New Orleans yesterday the men of this brotherhood voted on several members to be inducted into the fraternity at a later date.

One of those men is former President Bill Clinton and the other is Rev. Al Sharpton.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity has not confirmed this information as of yet but sources in New Orleans who wish to remain anonymous have confirmed that this order of business has been voted on and both men will be inducted later this year.

Similarly last year it was said that Michelle Obama would be initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, the country’s first and oldest black greek lettered sorority. No official word was ever made public as to wether or not First Lady Michelle Obama ever became a member of the organization.

If Bill Clinton is inducted into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. he will be the first former President of the United States to become a member of a historically black Greek lettered organization. Congratulations to former President Bill Clinton and the brotherhood of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

So now we got the fist “black” President as a member of one of the oldest and most prestigious black Fraternities!

The article does get one point wrong, hoswever – Michelle Obama did accept membership in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. BTX3’s Mom, a 60+ Year AKA Soror herself, was elated!

Since there are several Sigma’s in the family, including my older brother – they are going to be insufferable at this year’s family get together, just as the Alpha’s in the family gave the Delta women the “look down” last year. The Sigmas are definitely going to lord it over the Omegas.

BTX3 is laying 200 – 1 odds, the Omegas don’t invite George Bush…

Let me know how that picnic goes. I’m willing to bet that the Omegas at the picnic are going to talk about the Sigmas so bad they won’t be able to stand it. If you were talking about Obama…MAYBE. But a white president? Nope. I’m about to call my boy (a Sigma) and talk about him NOW! lol

There will be some woofin’ going down! I’m sure the family instigator will be in the middle of it.

Don’t know if it will be as bad as the ladies, though. My Mother and Aunts treated news that one of the nieces (the first to do so) was pledging Delta…

As I understand it, the Alphas opened membership to all races in 1940. Got an Alpha or two in the family as well.

All of the black fraternities have non-black members. This is nothing new. I am an Omega, and have met white Omegas. Have met Latino Alphas. Have seen white sigmas. The question though is whether integration–and here I mean having significant numbers of non-black members as opposed to a few dozen–should be a policy goal of black fraternities.

I can’t speak for the others. But I can suggest that among the general membership of Omega Psi Phi, this is not a policy goal. And most of us do not think it should be.

Most black organizations have never had rules which discriminated.

Its not a goal of ours either…but its not something that we are opposed to…yes Phi Beta Sigma is part of the divine nine and we are a historically Black Fraternity but our “high IDEALS of BROTHERHOOD, SCHLORSHIP, and SERVICE” tend to pull men in the RIGHT direction and that is SIGMA land…Congrats to the new bros (NEOS)…”OUR CAUSE SPEEDS ON IT WAY”

As I understand it, the members of Alpha Phi Alpha also extended membership to dead civil activists as well. Namely, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Well damn, if they are giving away memberships, I’ll take one of each.

In my collegiate days, on my campus, you had to do it the hard way.

You are incorrect, there is actual photo proof that Dr. King pledged as a Sphinxmen.
