BTx3 Reunion

Between 200 and 250 BTx3′s gathered at a resort this weekend for a long delayed family get together, a great turnout considering the time of year and distance some of the attendees would need to travel.  All told, the family consists of something between 500 and 800 members (that we know about), covering 6 generations from the point we marked as “our origins”.

To quote Edgar Guest – “That’s a heap of livin’”.

Got several hundred requests to publish another book about the family as a companion to the one we did at the 25th Family Reunion, which was a 300 page leather bound volume of pictures, charts, stories, documents, and letters – as well as a historical account…

I started assimilating this information several times, with the help of some of the family historians. The last book took over a year of effort to assemble, edit, and produce – which was a serious commitment. Of course, we didn’t have the advantage of computerized and online publication tools that we do today (like Adobe Publisher) – nor did we have extensive access to the Internet.

I have done a brief survey of Genealogy software, and so far have found products which are infested with a serious level of “bloatware” making the products fatally cumbersome, or with serious limitations in the ability to convert the files into a printable or publishable format. I haven’t taken a look at the online “Family” sites yet to figure out if there is anything useful…

Anyone else out there have ideas or experience in this?

BTx3 Family Reunion

BTx3 will be gone for the weekend, to the BTx3 Family Reunion. At last count, 250+ BTx3′s are set to show up!

And NO, if I hear that O’Jays song again…

I’ll explode!

Back to posting, Monday!
