Alvin Greene Part Deux!

Seems that Alvin Greene has got a taste for campaigning. After loosing to SC Senator Jim DeMint by more than 30 points, Greene isn’t going to let a little thing like a landslide keep him down…

Besides, there is the issue of all those left over Alvin Greene Action Figures!

Alvin Greene to run for S.C. state House

Alvin Greene, the unemployed military veteran who won the Democratic nomination to face Sen. Jim DeMint (R) this fall, has filed to run for South Carolina’s state House.

Greene, who lost to DeMint by over 30 percentage points, paid the $165 entry fee five minutes after the filing period opened on Christmas Eve to run in a special election to replace the late state Rep. Cathy Harvin (D), according toThe Associated Press.

His surprise primary victory over presumptive nominee Vic Rawls prompted calls from Democrats to investigate the election results, but he remained on the ticket through the general election.

In the midst of the campaign in August, Greene was indicted by a South Carolina jury for allegedly showing pornography to a college student. He declined to drop out of the race, and one of his first campaign speecheslasted a mere 23 seconds.

Greene got into trouble again when a companion of his got into a restaurantaltercation with officials from a local Democratic group, resulting in the ejection of Greene and his associates.

The candidate was also known for more lighthearted moments, such as his suggestion that manufacturing action figures of himself could create jobs.

Alvin Greene Unveils Comic Book Of Himself After Losing Senate Election

Democrat Alvin Greene lost badly on Tuesday to Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and will probably be remembered for running one of the strangest campaigns in recent memory, in addition to being one of the most unexpected candidates in modern history. Nevertheless, he will forever live on as a superhero — at least in his own comic book.

Greene was snubbed by the South Carolina Democratic Party and not invited to their celebration party on election night, but he insisted that he wasn’t at all unhappy because his party was going to be “bigger” — around 200 people.

But South Carolina journalist Deja Knight attended Greene’s party on Tuesday and said that there were only a handful of people there. In fact, members of the media outnumbered supporters. There were also a few people there doing documentaries on the former candidate.

Although the election for Greene is over, he lived up to his reputation for surprising journalists and creating a spectacle by focusing on his comic book called “Ultimate Warrior,” in which he is a superhero who saves people from foreclosures. Greene described the character as someone who can “can see into the future,” “leap higher than Michael Jordan” and “take on the Hulk.”

Hmmmmm… Wouldn’t be so sad if it wasn’t for the fact that the guy South Carolinians did select – Jim DeMint…

Only got a half French fry more in his Happy Meal.

Alvin Green, The Sarah Palin of Democrats – Gets Booted From Restaurant

Our boy down in South Carolina apparently is coming out swinging…

And winding up going out the door with a Police escort.

Alvin Greene expelled from S.C. restaurant by police

South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Alvin Greene was ejected from a South Carolina restaurant by police on Tuesday after his companion got into a fight with other patrons, the Associated Press reports.

According to police, Greene had originally been invited to address officials at a monthly meeting of the Oconee County Democratic Party, but the invitation was rescinded following Greene’s Aug. 13 felony indictment on charges of disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity, after he was accused of showing pornography to a college student.

Seneca Police Chief John Covington told the AP that Tuesday that Greene showed up at the event despite the withdrawing of his invitation, whereupon his female companion began to fight with other patrons. Organizers called police, who escorted Greene and his companion, who was not named in the report, from the restaurant.

Greene has not responded to requests seeking comment about the incident.

In November, he is set to face incumbent favorite Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Green Party candidate Tom Clements for the Senate seat.

Alvin Greene Indicted

Like… I’m supposed to be surprised at this one?

No Alvin – You don’t get to fondle the white women until AFTER you’re elected!

I still think there should be a RICO or Voting Fraud investigation of this whole shenanigan.

The sad part is I think Greene is as much a victim of this as the voters of South Carolina. I hope he at least made a few bucks off of this as South Carolina’s Sarah Palin… Because in all likelihood he is going to jail.

Alvin Greene charged over pornographic pictures

An unemployed military veteran who stunned the US political establishment by winning a Democratic primary to contest a South Carolina senate seat has been indicted on criminal charges of showing pornographic pictures to a teenage college student.

Alvin Greene, a little-known figure who has been described as America’s least likely prospective senator, is accused of approaching a young woman in a computer lab at his alma mater, the University of South Carolina. According to a grand jury indictment handed down today, he allegedly showed her obscene pictures and suggested going to her dormitory room.

If convicted, Greene could face up to five years in jail. The charges are a further blow to the credibility of a candidate who was initially overlooked as a no-hoper by Democratic party bosses before springing an out-of-the-blue shock by comfortably beating a former judge, Vic Rawl, to take the party’s nomination for this November’s mid-term senate race in South Carolina.

Greene declined to comment on the charges, which came a day after he addressed a meeting of South Carolina’s executive committee ofDemocrats with a speech appealing for support that reportedly lasted just 23 seconds.

The 32-year-old, who did no discernible campaigning in advance of his primary win, had no phone, no computer and no record of running for political office before his sudden rise to prominence.

He has been criticised for a lack of a coherent message and for a smattering of eccentric policy proposals.

In an interview with the Guardian last month, he suggested that the state’s economy could be boosted through a job creation scheme to make action models of himself in his army uniform: “They can make toys of me and my vehicle, especially for the holidays and Christmas for the kids. That’s something that would create jobs.”

Greene’s opponent in the senate battle will be Republican incumbent Jim DeMint, who is among the most conservative voices in the upper house. Greene, who has raised less than $1,000 in campaign funds, declined to comment to Associated Press reporters on his indictment, which is for twin charges of procuring obscenity and of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.

SC minor league team will give away US Senate candidate Alvin Greene action figures at game

Alvin Greene action figures are here _ thanks to a South Carolina minor league baseball team. The Charleston RiverDogs will give out statues of the Democratic U.SSenate candidate at Saturday’s game. Greene, who shocked the political establishment by winning the primary without campaigning, has suggested manufacturing action figures of himself could spur economic growth in a state with chronically high unemployment.

The statues are actually male Statue of Liberty figures the team planned to give away as a different promotion based on a Georgia group’s plan to build a mate for New York’s Lady Liberty on the South Carolina coast. But after hearing Greene’s idea, the RiverDogs decided to put a picture of his face on the statues instead.

“Who better epitomizes the American dream that anything is possible than Mr. Greene?” said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols.

Greene said Thursday the team didn’t talk to him before creating the promotion, but he doesn’t mind.

“As long as it looks good and is in good nature, I’m OK,” Greene said by phone from his home near Manning.

The team also plans to have a press ready to make T-shirts modeled on the “Greene Family Reunion” shirt from 1993 the candidate was photographed in the day after his shocking primary win.

The RiverDogs are a Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees known for wacky promotions, thanks in part to president Mike Veeck, whose father was famous major league baseball promoterBill Veeck.

The team set a record for having no fans in the stands on Nobody Night. They tried to have Vasectomy Night on Father’s Day 13 years ago, but canceled it when some fans complained it was too crass.

Alvin Greene Cleared?

It’s amazing what South Carolina can’t find…

When they don’t want to find it.

This one reminds me of the “investigations” of lynchings and murders of black folks back before the Federal Government stepped in with it’s full weight…

How silly for that black kid to wrap himself up in chains, trip and fall half a dozen times hitting his head, then drowning trying to swim the old engine block he stole across the river!

What this really means is there needs t be a full Federal Investigation by the DOJ and FBI – treating this like the organized crime it is.

Greene cleared in South Carolina investigation

Alvin Greene has been cleared in an investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.South Carolina’s top law enforcement agency announced Friday that it will not file charges against Democratic Senate nominee Alvin Greene.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) had been investigating how Greene, a political newcomer who could not afford a lawyer when facing criminal charges last year, came up with the $10,440 needed to get his name on the Democratic Senate primary ballot.

“After a thorough investigation, SLED has concluded that there is no evidence of wrongdoing, criminal intent or deception to the court when Greene applied for a public defender last year,” the agency said in a statement Friday.

“During the course of the investigation, SLED determined that monies spent for Greene’s filing fee were the candidate’s personal funds and therefore, no laws were violated in association with Greene’s payment to the South Carolina Democratic Party,” SLED said.

Greene has long maintained that he tapped into his personal savings to pay the filing fee.

Greene’s June 4 Democratic primary victory stunned politicians in the state because they had never heard of him and saw no proof he had mounted any type of campaign. His primary opponent, Vic Rawl, tried to have the election overturned, saying there were voting machine irregularities, but the state party denied the request.

CNN reported earlier Friday that Greene retained a private criminal defense attorney against charges he showed pornographic images to a college student last November.

The existence of those criminal charges surfaced after the primary win. State Democratic leaders called for him to step aside, at the time afraid he would not mount a serious campaign against incumbent Republican Sen. Jim DeMint.

Neither he nor the attorney, Eleazer Carter, will disclose whether Carter is being paid. Carter told CNN he is an acquaintance of Greene’s father and took on the case three weeks ago.

Greene has not had to enter a plea, and no trial date has been set. He has remained tight-lipped regarding the charges.

“I’m innocent until proven guilty. And like I said, I’m concentrating on my campaign issues, jobs, education and justice,” he told CNN in an interview in his Manning, South Carolina home last month. He refused to answer any more questions regarding the allegations.

Though the law enforcement agency said it determined that Greene used his own money to pay the party’s filing fee, the South Carolina attorney general’s office told CNN that it never received a request from SLED to subpoena Greene’s bank records.

Meet Kesha Rogers, Democrat Candidate from Texas who wants to impeach President Obama

Is She the Texan Alvin Greene?

She wants to impeach President Obama, ran on a campaign platform that includes the colonization of Mars, and thinks the US educational system should focus on the works of Plato and Leibnitz. Meet Kesha Rogers, winner of the Democratic primary for Tom DeLay’s old US Senate seat in Texas’ 22nd district. While South Carolina Dems are still baffled about how to deal with Alvin Greene, their Texas counterparts are rushing to disavow Rogers,Time reports.

Rogers, a 33-year-old Lyndon LaRouche Youth Movement activist, campaigned on the slogan “Save NASA. Impeach Obama.” She won 53% of the primary vote in an aerospace-industry-heavy district that includes the NASA Johnson Space Center. The state party has denied any support for her. “I can’t explain the result,” a Houston Dem said. “Stuff just happens sometimes, especially in races where not much attention is being paid.” “I don’t think the Democratic Party leadership is getting it,” Rogers countered. “The people continue to see more and more economic devastation and they don’t see any real leadership.”

More Hanky-Panky In South Carolina Primaries

S.C. lawmaker calls for investigations of Democratic primary, 2 other races

House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) called for federal and state investigations into alleged campaign irregularities in South Carolina after an unemployed Army veteran who lives with his parents won a Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate there.

Alvin M. Greene, who has an outstanding felony obscenity charge pending, “was someone’s plant,” Clyburn said Thursday.

Clyburn added that Greene was one of three individuals, all African American, whose congressional campaigns were designed to upend the Democratic primary process in the Palmetto State. The lawmaker also raised questions about the campaigns of Gregory A. Brown, who ran a vigorous but unsuccessful challenge against Clyburn in the 6th Congressional District, and Benjamin Frasier Jr., a perennial candidate who surprised observers by beating retired Air Force Reserve Col. Robert Burton in the 1st District.

The Federal Elections Commission has no public record of any of the three filing quarterly reports revealing their funding sources or campaign outlays. Continue reading

Alvin Greene – Senatorial Candidate in South Carolina

Alvin Greene… Hisself. This gets stranger every minute.

Clyburn Calls for Criminal Investigation Into SC Phantom Candidate

Two things are fishy about Alving Greene’s candidacy. How did an unemployed guy who was so broke he had to live with his parents come up with the $10,000 registration fee? And, where did those 100,000 votes magically appear from?

I think the problem here is a lot deeper than just the money, and places in question the validity of South Carolina elections, perhaps going back decades.

Time to take a real hard look at what is going on in South Carolina.

Alvin Greene - Fish or Fowl?

Clyburn says S.C. Dem Senate candidate a ‘plant;’ calls for probe

The man nominated as Democrats’ candidate for Senate in South Carolina might have been a “plant,” a high-ranking Democrat suggested Thursday.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) called for in South Carolina to investigate the circumstances that led to Alvin Greene winning the Democratic Senate primary in his state earlier this week.

“There were some real shenanigans going on in the South Carolina primary,” Clyburn said during an appearance on the liberal Bill Press radio show. “I don’t know if he was a Republican plant; he was someone’s plant.”

The third-ranking House Democrat said he found it strange that Greene, a relative unknown prior to Tuesday, was able to produce the money to register and run for Senate despite being unemployed.

Greene allegedly tried to pay the registation fee in cash, and Clyburn said he wondered whether an outside party might have funded both the fee and Greene’s campaign, in violation of federal campaign finance laws.

Despite having no real campaign or prior political support in the state, Greene won the primary to face Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) this fall with nearly 59 percent of the vote — almost 100,000 votes.

The South Carolina Democratic Party called on Greene on Wednesday to drop out of the race after The Associated Press reported that the candidate is facing felony charges for having allegedly displayed pornographic images to a college student.

Adding to the pressure on Greene was Clyburn’s call for a probe to look at the possibility that an outside party might have funded Greene’s campaign beyond legally permissible limits, and without having disclosed the source of those payments. He also called on the U.S. attorney in the state to investigate Greene’s alleged felony.

“I would hope the U.S. attorney down there would look at this,” Clyburn said about Greene’s qualifications for the ballot, also pointing to Greene’s having allegedly tried to pay the fee to run for Senate in cash, despite being unemployed.

“I think there’s some federal laws being violated in this race, but I think some shenanigans are going on in South Carolina,” Clyburn explained. “Somebody gave him that $10,000 and he who took it should be investigated, and he who gave it should be investigated.”

World’s Shortest Political Career, or – This Guys Gotta Be a Republican!

Remember Alvin Greene?

One More Time! You are not supposed to get one of these until AFTER you are elected Mr. Greene!

The black, unemployed, Army vet who won the Democrat Nomination in a huge surprise last night in the South Carolina Primiaries…

Yeah – THAT Alvin Greene!

Surprise SC Senate Democratic candidate faces felony obscenity charge

South Carolina’s surprise Democratic nominee to challenge U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint is facing a pending felony charge.

Court records show 32-year-old Alvin Greene was arrested in November and charged with showing obscene Internet photos to a University of South Carolina student. The felony charge carries up to five years in prison.

Greene said he had no comment when asked about the charge Wednesday and hung up on a reporter.

The unemployed veteran posted bond after his arrest. He has yet to enter a plea or be indicted.

Records indicate Greene showed photos to a woman and talked about going to her room at a university dorm.

On Tuesday, Greene stunned state Democratic Party leaders by winning the nomination. He raised no money and put up no campaign website. He beat former four-term state lawmaker Vic Rawl, 64, who had raised about $186,000 and had to abruptly scrap a late-week fundraiser for the fall.

Greene said he spent a total of 13 years in the Air Force and Army before leaving the Army in August.

DeMint, a conservative Republican and tea party darling pursuing a second term, has marshaled a $3.5 million war chest already to face the bare-pockets Democratic underdog.

Damn! Is it something in the water down there? You got the previous Governor “Nekked Hiking” in dereliction of duty with an Argentine hottie cheating on his wife. You got the current Governor candidate accused of garnering votes on her back. A top lieutenant to S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster was busted last year doing the freak nasty in a …gasp!… cemetary with a 18 year old stripper/prostitute and a large jar of Viagra. The strange story of Kristin Maguire, an Upstate evangelical and one of South Carolina’s most respected social conservatives, one of the governor’s closest education policy advisors for years – turning out to be the prolific author of hardcore erotic fiction on the Internet. Just before impeaching the last errant Governor, Mark Sanford – the holy sanctimonious conservatives in charge found out the current Lt. Governor is a sanctimonious conservo-hypocrite gay basher… closet queen - leaving the legislature with the untenable choice of the adulterer or the closet queen.

In any event, I believe a felony disqualifies Mr. Greene from holding office.

Who Was That Guy, Anyway?

Hat Tip to Alvin Greene! He got both Democrats allowed to vote in South Carolina to vote for him!

Jobless Guy Who Didn’t Campaign Wins SC Primary

Alvin Greene’s surprise victory in South Carolina’s Democratic Senate primary has left much of the state asking: “Who?” The 32-year-old unemployed Army veteran had no campaign funds and no website but still managed to defeat former judge Vic Rawl, and will now be running against incumbent Republican Sen. Jim DeMint this fall, the AP reports.

Greene, who paid the $10,000 filing fee and all other campaign expenses out of his own funds, may have won because people unfamiliar with either candidate “voted alphabetically,” says the chair of South Carolina’s Democratic Party. But Greene will take it, he tells Mother Jones: “I’m not concentrating on how I was elected—it’s history. I’m the Democratic nominee—we need to get talking about America back to work.”

Now, wouldn’t it be absolutely beautiful if Greene could pull off another upset come November?
